Should i Lie or not? Please help

I'm currently working on my AIF and i need to explain why i took english outside of dayschool.

The reason why I took it is because i have a speech disorder (stutter blocks) since I was a kid which heavily goes towards my grade and its a problem because 60% of our grades are discussion based. I always overthink and always blank out when i want to say something but I just cannot get it out. I decided to get regiester as Elearning but the spots were also full, SO i just took it on OVS

udk if I should say this and they will think i am takin gthe easier way through or i should just make up a story that can give me a better chance of not getting penalized (applying to mathmetics)

I currenlty am seeing a speech therapist which is helping me overcome this or improve it.

any advice is appreciated

Financial issues

I’m a 2nd year psychology student and I’m having a lot of financial issues due to family issues. What are some options through the university I can do?

I’m not looking for a large bursary or scholarship or anything, just something they have as an option that could get me by for a while

question about a course

Is KIN 217 and HLTH 217 the same? Is there a way to choose do one or the other if it's from a different program because the program I want to get into has HLTH 217 but for graduate school prerequisite, it states KIN 217 and not HLTH 217.

THank you.

Winter 2025 Parking Passes

Does anyone know when these usually go on sale? I can’t find any information about it and I don’t want to miss out on them and they sell out.

Re-open Bombshelter

Studying here makes me sad realizing that so many events and memories have been made. It’s been dead for many years since it’s been closed (with many of its features such as the bar still remaining) and would be nice to at least bring in another person to run it and make it alive again.

Drop Laurier Business in favour of Shopify Internship?

Hi uwaterloo

I was fortunate enough to receive a winter internship @ shopify and summer internship @ linkedin.

The issue is, I am doing a double degree CS + Business (both at Laurier).

The business program requires me to take 5 courses in either Winter or Spring (they are not offered in Fall which is the issue). If I take both internships, I "lose" the fall term since I won't be able to meet the progression requirements, so I cannot take any other required business classes. If I do both internships, then continue with the double degree, I won't be eligible for a return offer from linkedin, because they require me to graduate sometime between December 2025 and September 2026. So, losing the fall term causes me to graduate (I think) around Jan 2027 (business still requires 3 terms) which is a no-go.

I am having a bit of trouble deciding whether I want to cancel/renege on Shopify, or dropping out of the business program completely. Also interestingly, since I completed a lot of business courses to date, I qualify for the Computer Science + Management Option thing. So if I drop business not all of it would be a sunk cost, and the management option will still be there.

If I drop business completely, and decide to go with the management option, after the internships, I would only have to study one more term, which also saves me time.

I think dropping business and doing both internships is the more sensible route to go, but I want other people's inputs on this as well.

Missed interviews for WW

I missed an interview in Cycle 1 by accidentally sleeping through, and then, just today I missed another because I got the times confused and it was obviously in Cycle 2 for the interview I missed today. After the interview I missed today, I made sure to contact call WaterlooWorks so that the employer can be contacted for a possible rescheduled time. Will I face any penalties from WaterlooWorks?

FARM VS MATHEMATICAL ECONOMICS

Hi,
So I am a 2A hons econ student with a Computing minor. I've already completed CS115 and CS116, and I’m currently taking ECON 221 (Statistics for Economics) and ECON 211 (Mathematical Economics). Unfortunately, I’ve been finding these econ courses to be poorly formulated and less engaging than I’d hoped.

Halfway through my first year, I started realizing that Waterloo isn’t particularly known for being a strong “econ university.” I’ve been seriously thinking about transferring to the Math faculty, specifically into either the Mathematical Economics or FARM (Financial Analysis and Risk Management) program.

I’ve already taken MATH 137, CS115, and CS116, and I have a 96% math faculty average so far. I’m pretty confident that my transfer would be approved, given my grades and background. My ECON grades are also all high 90's. I have also found the math courses to be easier than I thought (although I am pretty sure the upper year courses are very difficult)

I want to do something in the finance field particularly Private Equity or Hedge fund management (would say quant but that's extremely competitive and would require a pmath major) . I am really passionate about econ however, the lack of finance courses in economics at waterloo is what's making me doubt myself. Moreover, even with my grades, I am finding it extremely hard to land a good co-op job.

So I want some advice on whether I should switch my major and if yes should I switch it to FARM (I think this is a good program but with less emphasis on econ) or mathematical economics.

Thanks.

Lost iPhone 14 Pro (purple back with clear phone case) - Last seen around ICON South Tower

I lost my iPhone 14 Pro this morning around 8:25am. The phone is purple coloured and has a clear case on the back.

Someone must have turned off Find My tracking and/or shut the phone off since the location of the phone says it is in the exact same place as where it was last seen and has not updated in 11.5 hours at the time of me writing this. I thouroughly checked the surrounding area and I was not able to find it. I also tried pinging the device and it was not even able to connect to phone play the ping noise.

If anybody has any leads/advice, then please reach out and let me know. Thank you.

How do you like the university and your program so far ? Do you regret it at all ?

For new students, esp ones that didn't know anyone here before coming to this school, and ones that didn't live in Waterloo/nearby areas.

How's it been so far?

Moving away from parents, HS circle and your home town and the difficulty of adjusting to uni life?
And anyone in the competitive programs, how's coop search and midterms? How's your back to back courses?

Do you like the culture of this uni? Clubs? Dorms?other people? Profs?

How To "Co-found" a Book?

Hi everyone,

Just as the title says, I am trying to co-found a book/legal document (which is the only copy left) at the Dana Porter Library at Waterloo because one of the people mentioned in it was my grandmother.

To clarify, I want to purchase and own this book because I want to keep it in the family in memory of my grandmother who recently passed away. I am actually getting emotional while writing this.

If there are other options for ownership, like getting a digital copy, then please let me know.

All that I am asking is for what my next steps should be in terms of buying and owning this book/document? At this point, I am willing to pay every nickel and dime just to have permanent access to it.

Thank you.

Seeking feedback for a new group tutoring platform

Hi everyone! I'm gathering feedback on a new group tutoring platform where the cohort is kept small, 4-5 people, and the cost of tutoring is divided and capped to $10 per person or less.
Do you think it'll be helpful and reasonable considering private tutors charge up to $50 per session?
