Any traveling band/musician knows that booking shows in new towns can be a real hassle. With everyone touring nowadays, music venues are flooded with hundreds of e-mails every day. This makes it particularly difficult for anyone trying to book a venue without knowing the promoter personally.
This subreddit provides a forum for touring musicians to connect with people from other cities who might be able to help them out, swap shows, share stories, or just discuss music and life in general.
Don't forget to check these lists of subreddits by city/State. We recommend crossposting and linking back to your submission here.
Be sure to check out the /r/bandmembers slash /r/TouringMusicians contact list for contacts in various areas. Please add your contact info if you might be able to help in your area!

Hello Fellas,
Has anybody else found the back and forth messaging with venue mangers regarding logistics to be quite time consuming? I get that most of them have a lot on their plate that is prioritized above booking gigs but its just a bummer that this factor wastes a lot of my time.
Has anybody else had issues with this?
First time going on tour with friends. Im only one who plays guitar. How many songs should be enough for a 3 day tour?
Hey everyone - I'm about to embark on my first international tour and am flying with my primary guitar in checked luggage. Unfortunately I was not able to buy another seat for it or have it treated as special luggage (due to availability and restrictions) so checked luggage is my only option. I have bought an ESP hard case for it (it's an Eclipse) and my guitar tech has advised cushioning it further with t shirts or something - I'm planning on wrapping t shirts around it and then bubble wrapping it further (if possible) inside the case, then wrapping the case at the airport with luggage wrap...any advice? This is my first time flying with a guitar in checked luggage so I'm a bit nervous. The case is molded but I'm not sure if wrapping it further in a molded case would cause more harm than good?
Im thinking of getting this bass case and instead of having two bass guitars using it for a bass guitar and an electric guitar. Would there be any issues with this?
I have a couple developing clients that aren’t quite ready for a booking agent and will need to self-book. Does anyone have any experience using booking-agent.io? I’m only looking for current email addresses for talent buyers in smaller venues.
Ive been having trouble getting booked in my local area (SLO, CA)... :(
Could anybody give me tips and pointers?
Anything helps! :)
I've got a solo electro trip hop with live guitar act based in the US. Been a "pro" musician for over 15 years (make my living playing guitar gigs and teaching). My primary goal has always been to build an original music career/path. Starting to finally gain some momentum with streaming after releasing for a few years and with some solid collaborations--wondering if that will end up being the primary source to facilitate touring? I've tried the regional weekend touring/play small bars/clubs bit pretty extensively--went fine, but to make the jump to playing support slots/opening slots for larger touring acts, getting into festivals etc is what I'm after. What a mountain to climb....feel like I'm really close and then sometimes it feels like when will it ever happen. I have a couple of good friends in my genre who are out going on major runs. It feels impossible without an agent, but maybe it can be all DIY? Been applying to essentially every festival I can find to play--especially Europe, where they seem to have a more robust festival and touring scene for my genre that we do in the states. Hell I'd move my wife and I over there if it's more of a viable option. Appreciate wisdom from anyone out there!
Anyone here record every show they perform? I've built an app that helps artists and event organizers capture, package, and release complete recordings of every event. It’s called Meddly and I’m looking for testers.
The app is really easy to use:
Each event requires an event manager. Once the event manager starts recording, all additional cameras will begin recording. When the manager ends recording, all additional cameras stop recording. Meaning, a single person can control an army of recording devices at a click of a button.
After the event ends, almost everything is automated. All event videos are packaged, where teams can select what media to include during playback.
The final output is a video file with a consistent source of audio, and video that changes between available camera angles every couple of seconds.
If you're interested, check out the website and let me know what you think!
Hi folks
Heading out to the states next spring on a short run starting in New York with 10 dates between and finishing in LA.
Last time we hired a bus and although it was a great experience, I can’t afford it this time around. Looking at cheaper alternatives and have been recommended Bandwagon RV Rentals.
Doing a quick scan online, it seems like some people love them and some seem to think they’re the worst. Has anyone here any experience with them? I’m mainly concerned about what it’s like trying to sleep whilst it’s moving. That seems to be where they get their negative reviews.
Cheers
Hey Reddit. I'm obsessed with music. Mostly EDM and don't mind listening to other stuff. I work in music so I might dedicated my whole life to this S$%@. I'm kinda worried because I don't know what will happen. I'm 24 and still exploring. I enjoy DJing. I've have had a few rough moments and not so good times because of party attitudes and drunk people. But I guess that's part of it? I like doing events and want to be able to pursue/build something I am truly passionate about.
Any advice from current musicians and retired ones as well.
I just saw a fest line up and saw some of my local peers on it. Was wondering how people go about getting on festival line ups?
My band has way more followers, released music and plays more shows throughout the year than the other locals on the bill. Just wondering why I didn’t get hit up, or if I’m doing something wrong? I spoke to one of them and they said they just got an email out of the blue.
So I wonder if I’m being assertive/aggressive enough or I just keep grinding and elevating until they have no choice but to see my bands work.
Kinda bummed, but I know my band’s time is coming.
Just wanted to warn the community of a scam artist booking agent/tour manager who has been taking advantage of artists for at least 10 years under a variety of names and company names.
They go by "Eli Morris" but their full name is Tanner Jame Elias Morris. Their current company is called Gravity Talent, previously it was called the Motion Agency. They were previously based out of Little Rock, AR.
Most recently they stole approximately $20k from a touring package with a pretty popular headliner called WhoKilledXIX. They took deposits from all of the artists on the tour months before the tour to secure an RV, which was never rented.
Then the we were to leave for tour, they stole $6500 from their own grandmother to secure a lesser tour vehicle (a Ford Sprinter Van, very nice, but artists were promised bunks).
We didn't know about any of this until a few days into the tour, and they was the tour manager. Fucker refused to wear deodorant or shower (in a Sprinter van with 9 other dudes in the summer), drove at 90+ MPH while swerving and texting, and condescended to literally everyone from venue staff to local acts to the touring artists and crew.
The story is wild and long and gets real weird. If you care, here are some of our stories:
https://www.threads.net/@metalcorenightadam/post/DCCgEc7JUH1

They also have a history of hiring stagehands and not paying, working as a talent buyer and not paying bands (then using the money to do a bunch of coke), and a ton of other shady shit.
Avoid at all costs.
Anyone on the Eras tour management side, watching this tour come to life this entire year and the number of documents they must have to put this entire thing together. There was someone on YouTube that recreated their entire lighting rig and at this point I just want to know what Project Management software they are using to manage all this on the go, how are they doing impromptu tour accounting, and how are they dealing with taxes and moving of merchandise units in large shipments for big city shows.
I just released my debut EP a couple weeks ago, and we did a release show for it which did great! But now i'm trying to send emails to venues in my area to see if I could get in on the bill as a local opener. With no experience in this field, how should i format the email, and what are some good things to mention in the email?

Hey all,
I’m sure we all know that life on the road can be… well, unpredictable, to say the least! I’m looking for those unforgettable tour stories—the ones you end up telling over and over because they’re just that bizarre, funny, or downright unbelievable. From strange encounters to unexpected mishaps, supernatural experiences, and the downright surreal, or just a situation that left you thinking, “Did that really just happen?”—I’d love to hear about it.
Whether you’re a solo artist or in a band, drop your stories below if you’ve got any. What happened, and how did you handle it? Did it change how you think about life on the road?
Looking forward to reading what you’ve got. Thanks in advance for sharing!

The group has been great to work with, and I've made a lot of money while being hauled around Europe, the US, and the UK. Nothing would make me happier than sourcing a colleague here to run around the world with! Only requirement is being badass!

Howdy, everybody. My band is going to EU/UK for the first time! Any airplane tips? Haven't been on a plane in 15 years....Thinking about getting the ENKI bass case to tag along with me, and a pelican for my pedal board with airtags inside.
Looking for any sort of advice, and anything is appreciated!
Hey yall!
Im going to try and sum this story up with only specifics.
I built a bill of 4 bands. They all said they are good to play in April of 2025. I emailed a known small venue in the area with our bill and they said we were second hold but are open for us to challenge first hold, because our bill was complete.
I challenged and won.
I let the bands know that we are booked at said venue and two out of the four bands let me know they don't like that venue for different reasons. I stand with the bands and understand where they are coming from. I have no problem booking at a different venue.
My question is.... how do I now release this hold that I friggin challenged to get without sounding like a dick? I cant email them and say "hey so you know how I challenged that hold - can you release it now because the bands say your venue has icky vibes" ...
How do I make this nicer / more professional?
Another option is I can book different bands for a show there 10 days later essentially changing the bill and show dates
Thank you for your advice!
Hello all,
My band is starting to work on booking a week long show run around the Midwest. For those with experience, do you recommend DIY or finding a booking agency to help secure shows/small guarantee?

Hey all! I’m a young guy who’s always had a habit of getting sick and just feeling like shit a lot of the time. Usually I just live with it, but my band is going on a long ass tour soon and I wanna be able to stay healthy/in shape leading up to it. Any advice for an underweight guy prepping for this lifestyle?
ALSO: if there’s any tips for preserving voice would be appreciated
On a sprinter tour. No dvd player. Anyone got any good bus games? We’ve already played “bag out the drummer” - need some fresh ideas!
