Any traveling band/musician knows that booking shows in new towns can be a real hassle. With everyone touring nowadays, music venues are flooded with hundreds of e-mails every day. This makes it particularly difficult for anyone trying to book a venue without knowing the promoter personally.
This subreddit provides a forum for touring musicians to connect with people from other cities who might be able to help them out, swap shows, share stories, or just discuss music and life in general.
Don't forget to check these lists of subreddits by city/State. We recommend crossposting and linking back to your submission here.
Be sure to check out the /r/bandmembers slash /r/TouringMusicians contact list for contacts in various areas. Please add your contact info if you might be able to help in your area!

Does anyone know an average price for wages for a... "semi known" middling indie band, to pay ancillary staff?
Lights and or projections
FOH house sound
Tour Manager
Stage Techs etc
WHat about non band musicians, (additional guitarist hired guns etc)
Im looking at UK MU rates, but its all about wedding bands and ferry performers, Im talking circuit tours or festivals with maybe 3-6k guarantees (before costs).
My band have lovely crew folk who largely do it for the kicks, but while settling the books Im looking to pay them "properly" from merch or profits.
All info graetfully received... expecially with sources
My band is touring Europe in the fall. All our gear is dual voltage. I’ve got some Euro travel power strips without surge protection. I’ve used them in the UK and they work great. They have plug adaptors for continental Europe as well.
I’ve been reading that some of these countries have a slightly different width to their plug sockets. Specifically I was seeing the Schuko plug vs. the Euro plug and how they are slightly different widths.
I want to make sure my power strips will work in these different EU countries. I’m also thinking about getting some Euro extension cords.
Any advice would be appreciated.
is it too late to get into touring in your 30s?
for context i’ve been on a few short tours in the last year (2 with friends, 1 as a legit worker), have a large network within the music community, and am flexible with what i can do as part of a crew (merch, tm, documenting).
i want to keep going but the imposter syndrome is real.
Band is fighting. We've been lucky to do a few shows but I'm thinking the stress is slowly catching up to us. Last week the shit hit the fan and the guys in the band started fighting. Things are very tense now, to the point where we can't even rehearse properly. I've been put in the situation of trying to mediate the best I can. I try not to take sides and remind everyone that ultimately we like playing together. I try to encourage open communication and being honest with one another. That being said, this is all new to me and I am trying to deal with it the best I can. To the more experienced touring musicians out there, how do you deal with this? What have you learned from your own experience with infighting in the band? Do you think there is such thing as a band that will never fight, or is the an inevitable part of being in a band? Can it be resolved or does it just have to run it course?
Check out this amazing line up of artists coming to the Paramount tomorrow on May 10! Super excited to be headlining my first show and hope to meet some of yall!

I am 19 years old and I joined my local music festivals street team when I was 17 (I am still apart of it) I’m now a college student studying music business with a concentration on live touring (specifically as a TM). I been looking at Live Nation Internships and Spotify Connection events recently. I also been going to shows and looking at smaller bands I would like to potentially work with in the future (so far I for sure know one band). I also go to concerts a lot and talk to the band members and I been trying to get my name out there (with a few band members even dming me so I’m trying to start forming connections now). My school gives opportunities to help manage a music festival on Austin (which I plan on participating next year). I know everybody’s path is different but I would like to know how to start.
Also a bonus question: what are some rules you’ve set while touring? I think getting along with the band is what leads to success on both ends.
Hey - routing a tour through the East Coast this summer. Any tips for saving? Memberships? Insider perks or deals anyone knows of when it comes to exclusively booking with one chain or memberships that actually pay off?
At my internship (artist management company in New York) they had us make fake Media Badges for all the bands so they’d check bags for free. Things like this but for hotels/ gas/ car rentals? Thanks!
I'm looking into becoming a tour manager and trying to learn about the career from first hand sources. I'm currently in Event Production classes and our final project is to find and interview people with careers we're interested in.
Here are some questions I have:
I would love to hear about your experiences and favorite memories from the job!!
When touring, what features or special touches makes a hotel stay really enjoyable?
Not including price of the rooms (obviously the more affordable the better) things like secure storage for kit, parking included, extra comfy beds etc..

Hello everybody.. looking for some guidance here. I am a professional wardrobe technician and I’ve worked at several theatres, both summer-stock and regional over the last 5 years and i very badly want to get into working on tours as a wardrobe tech or a stitcher or… something. I’ve looked on all of the major job boards and talked to a couple people who are in that orbit, but I am losing hope. I honestly just want to be working wardrobe in any capacity on any tour. Any advice? Am i delusional? TIA :)
How do you do it? Most of my friends who have done it have just said that someone found their band online, really liked their music, and basically just set everything up for them. Was just wondering how many of you have maybe shared the same experience, or have any other advice on setting one up yourself. Thanks!
TITLE EDIT: “How do you deal with after TOUR FOMO etc.”
Whoops, typo
Not a touring MUSICIAN, but I am a FOH engineer as well as TM’ing for the band I currently work for.
Just got off a long-ish run and the FOMO and shitty after tour feelings are creeping in heavy. Been home for 3-4 days at this point. It’s weird cause I know this happens to me every time, I know what to expect and it always passes but this time it is intense. We have plenty of stuff coming up for the year too. I’m not in need of extra work. While I’d take it, if it lined up right, I don’t NEED it for the rest of the year.
Deleted social apps for a little bit so I’m not stuck looking at what everyone else is doing. I take care of myself physically, probably exercise way more than I should tbh lol. I’ve been staying social hanging out with or seeing family every day since I’ve been back.
But yeah, not really sure where I’m going with this. Just feeling pretty disconnected and crappy, figured I’d post here to see if anyone else relates.
The rumours you’ve heard are true: we’re playing NXNE in June!!! 🥳🥳🥳
Anyone with leads on shows in Ottawa, Montreal, Kingston etc the week of June 11-17?
Curious as a UK band here - for any bands (using either rented or their own transport) touring the EU mainland:
If you are not using a newer Euro 6 rated van or vehicle tours there - those of you running a Euro IV (or even earlier) van, what is it costing you in big cities with Clear Air Zones etc? And any cities that you've not been able to get in to?
Same question to those with Euro V vans too!
Heyo,
My band is traveling from Austin, TX to Germany this July and trying to plan a tour around it. We obviously have zero connections to venues or places to play, but hoping to get some suggestions from y'all so we can build a solid network to come back to! We play "dirty rock n' roll" that's kinda blues/heavy rock, with a southern edge. We're on all the streaming platforms, but I'll put our Spotify link here too, if you wanna check us out. https://open.spotify.com/artist/6ok3fA8GySPsN8p4VmKvyU?si=rpFdpgIJQFOTo0FWy0l3Xg
Any and all suggestions are appreciated! Also, places with a backline(drum kit, amp for guitars etc ) is a plus since we won't be traveling with all of our equipment.
Thanks and Cheers!
Hey ya’ll im gonna be on tour with my band ( shoegaze? Punk? Noise?) And we already have all the holds in our run, we’re looking for band recommendations in the following cities:
Louiseville, KY Tallahassee, FL Baltimore, MD Chatanooga, TN
Hello everyone,
I’m from the UK and looking to bring my band to America for an east coast tour. Do you all have any recommendations for tour bus companies? Looking to begin our tour in New York and perform 14 shows before we head back. Looking for something reliable and a good deal preferably anything less than $50k (yes I know this price is asking for a miracle in today’s market).
Thanks In advance guys!
Any of you guys have any experience flying with musical instruments on Lufthansa? Heading to Germany on Lufthansa for a tour next week and trying to get a lay of the land. Their dimensions for instrument travel seem wildly small (21.7"x16"x9.07"), about the size of med-large travel backpack. Have any of you guitar, bass, tenor sax, or trombone players had any luck bringing your axe as a carry-on? I know policy technically says "no", but I'm curious if this is actually enforced and if any of you have had luck getting your axe on
Thanks in advance!
Im curious! I have a friend who has heard some things about the guy running it but I just wanted to see if anyone here know about them or what they're about.
I’m touring with an artist who plays at hall sized venues (where orchestras would perform) usually 1500-5000 capacity shows around the world. Flights, hotels, transportation during the tours are covered and there’s per diem. Other than the artist, there’s 6 other hired musicians that make up the band. How much roughly should I be making per show with these things considered? It’s hard for me to find a ballpark of this online because musicians pay varies so much.. just wondering if anyone has more knowledge of this. Thanks in advance!
We’re Charioteer, an indie rock band from Colorado. We’re recording a record near Greenfield, MA during the last week of May and would like to fit in a show while we’re there; ideally 5/29, 5/30, or 5/31. Looking for leads on venues/houses and bands to play with in the surrounding area. Links below. Thanks, y’all!
My wife is an interior designer for an architecture firm currently working on a new outdoor amphitheater in Kentucky. She doesn't know much about what touring musicians need / want, and would love to hear from people who have toured about what they loved or didn't love about various backstages they've used. This place will have a capacity of 10k, so similar to Red Rocks.
I'm a musician but haven't toured so can only tell her about the local dives I've played. Not helpful, it turns out.
At any rate, she gave me a list of questions - if anyone has the time or inclination to answer some of these, or to give any thoughts about backstages at venues of this size, I'd really appreciate it!
She's been tasked to lay out out and design a handful of backstage rooms and isn't sure what each of them are for or how they're used... here's her questions!

My legs are on fire after going back to work (standing for 8 hours) after tour. Although I felt the pain start before going back to work, its much more intense now. Any tips greatly appreciated.
