Boss IR-2 for Brutal Death Metal/Slam?

Hey everyone, I’m relatively new to amp and cab sims and could use some guidance. I’ve always played through real amps, but with shows in different cities, I’m considering switching to amp sims like the Quad Cortex, Helix, or similar units. Before diving into the deep end, though, I want to test the waters with something like the IR-2.

I’ve never used an amp sim before and honestly don’t know how they work. Is it just a straight-to-DI situation? How’s the tone compared to a real amp? And for those who play death metal, would you recommend it if I’m running my own distortion pedal into it?

Any tips, experiences, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

After months of experimentation my violin sounds metal (cover video)

I’ve played acoustic violin for almost 30 years and been a metalhead for almost as long. Purchased an electric a few months ago. I feel like the gates have opened for me and I can now take a stab at writing my own metal music. Looking forward to sharing a demo on here soon. Cheers!

How does everyone else here promote their music?

I generally try advertising through TikTok or Instagram reels and I'll boost the posts, but I generally don't see much of the likes I get translated to listeners on Spotify. Just curious what everyone else does, I want to be more efficient if possible. I understand no matter what I do it's gonna be a grind tho.

Vocal one takes

Heyo guys!

I'm going to record some vocal one takes for my bands entire E.P. and was wondering if anyone's done it in the past and could share the things they learned along the way and stuff you wish you knew before hand.

I'm gonna use my phone to record myself and screen record my wave form in Studio one and use that as the video and cut the audio from studio one into the video afterwards. I have an ideal vocal chain. It's screaming and singing.

Let me know guys! And my bands Lytepath!

Any artists on here want their music mixed?

Hi all!

I've been wanting to get more into mixing for others after a long time doing it for my own music, my bands demos, and at work.

Just need to start a portfolio..

If anyone wants a first track done for free, let me know.

Feel free to shoot me a dm or something.

Made a stranger things cover and looking for some feed back.

Use a seven string and another 6 sting in drop c for it all. The only thing that isn't played on a guitar was the synth bass https://on.soundcloud.com/akXpSdgUjHd4tXz87

How do you guys like to mic your snare?

I always put the top mic right above the rim facing at the center of the head the way Glenn Fricker does, but I’ve been experimenting with putting it a little further back and pointing it more towards the edge of the head. What do y’all do?

I never use snare bottom mics because they always sound like papery dogshit for me
