Texans running back rushes for 101 yards, touchdown, seventh 100-yard game, most in the NFL by any player and first player since 1970 to run for 100 yards and a touchdown in six away games in a row, passing Derrick Henry (2020) and Tiki Barber (2004).
"Joe, man, you talk about a guy who plays with the relentless mindset, the tenacity that you need,” Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said. “Joe is an old-school running back. He is the guy that wants it 30 times and keeps getting better the more touches he gets. Really proud of him to know he’s hurting and still push through, still churn out yards when they’re loading the box and to still be able to find a way to get yards. It’s really impressive by our line. I thought our tight ends, can’t say enough about the way they blocked as well. I thought they did an outstanding job blocking and Joe ran it really well.”
Great story by Aaron Wilson.
No, I'm not good enough to do bangerz
If I am going about this the right way, then in Week 15,if the Texans beat the Dolphins, and the Colts lose to the Broncos, then Texans win the division, this securing them a playoff spot. Although, the Colts can catch up to them in conference record, they can't catch up to them in division record. Besides,Texans already have the tie-breaker by sweeping them.
Won't Texans also have home field advantage? Don't the top 4 playoff seeds belong to division winners?
Just watching the 49ers have a horrible season and thinking about the weekly struggles we see with our offense. Is it possible the mystique around the Shanahan approach has vanished? Has the league gotten wise to these guys? Just thinking out loud…
Full disclosure I’m a doomer, I have been completely unimpressed by our team this year which is nuts considering we are 8-5. I want to be optimistic but heading into this week I couldn’t shake the feeling we’d be in a nail biter with one of the worst teams in the league.
It’s been so frustrating to watch our coaching, players, discipline, and everything regress from last year. And while we’ve seen rough seasons and some interesting names throw the ball in this uniform (T.J Yates, Tom Savage, Brock O, Brian Hoyer, and the one who shall not be named). There has not been a more frustrating season in recent memory than this.
But even as a doomer, I do believe there is a very bright light at the end of the tunnel.
Considering all the bullshit we’ve endured and losses against some terrible teams. Being 8-5 the way we’ve been playing, winning against the Bills, and should have been wins against the Lions and Packers is unfucking believable.
And I can’t remember the last time being more excited our defense is on the field and knowing they will make a huge play in important moments since the JJ and Cushing days.
CJ is still an incredible quarterback turning Nico into a top 5 and growing alongside Tank. Will, Pitre, and Stingley are blossoming into some of the best players defense players in the NFL. And while he’s got a lot of things to learn I think Demeco is the right guy to be leading us.
I’ve chalked this season to be a learning year, one we can hopefully grow from. And while my blood pressure and vocal cords will still be shot each week watching this team. I’m extremely excited for what the future holds for us as one of the youngest and most talented teams in the NFL.
He's been a DOG for us this year. Many of our wins are attributed to his performance. He's been a menace on defense whose kept us in it while the offense has been trying to get their shit together. Yeah, he made a bad hit, but what about everything else he's done for this organization?
I wish a quick recovery for TL, and hopefully a learning moment for Azeez. At the end of the day, this is football, and unfortunate hits happen, but it is a physical sport.
Our fanbase, particularly a large portion of the Reddit community needs to learn the rules. The hit was illegal and it is black and white.
Lawrence started his slide 5 yards before 0 left his feet. Lawrence would have been ruled when he initiated his slide, WELL before the first down market.
There are no special rules for QB’s in this scenario. Any player has the same exact level of protection.
“when a runner declares himself down by: falling to the ground, or kneeling, and clearly making no immediate effort to advance. sliding. When a runner slides feet or head first, or simulates sliding the ball is dead the instant he touches the ground with anything other than his hands or his feet, or begins to simulate touching the ground; Notes: Defenders are required to treat a sliding runner as they would a runner who is down by contact. A defender must pull up when a runner begins a feet-first slide. This does not mean that all contact by a defender is illegal. If a defender has already committed himself, and the contact is unavoidable, it is not a foul unless the defender makes forcible contact into the head or neck area of the runner with the helmet, shoulder, or forearm, or commits some other act that is unnecessary roughness.”
Lawrence checked every box on his end. He starts his slide a good 3 yards before the first down marker and about 5 yards before 0 is going to tackle him.
Al-Shaair used his forearms and landed a hit in the head and neck area.
Al-Shaair could have and should have made a better effort at “pulling up” exactly as the rules state.
Maybe I should wait to watch it on replay when I get off work but WTH???
Just came here to say that. He is a terrible color guy. Likes to hear his own voice.

Teams are now going to start officially clinching playoff spots as well as Divisional titles. Let's check in on the path for the Texans to the playoffs and ultimately clinching the AFC South Title.
The Titans and Jaguars do not have a mathematical chance at clinching the AFC South title outright. The Jaguars with the loss today are fully eliminated. The Titans would have to win out and have the Texans lose out for them to get into a tiebreak situation.
That leaves us the Texans and the Colts fighting for the AFC South title.
Texans: 8-5
Colts: 6-7
The Texans are two full games up on the Colts for the AFC South title right now, but it essentially is a three game lead because the Texans hold the tiebreaker over the Colts.
The magic number for the Texans sits at two games. In simple terms, the Texans need to win two more games, the Colts need to lose two more, or the Texans need to win one/Colts lose one.
Looking ahead to next week: Both teams are on a bye next week so the only actual change in the Divisional race would be if the Titans lose to the Jaguars they are then mathematically eliminated.
Remaining schedule for both teams:
Texans

Dolphins
@ Chiefs
Ravens
@ Titans
Colts

@ Broncos

@ Giants
Jaguars
The internet said fox sports but I don't see it. Can anyone PM me?
