This sub is for commiseration and camaraderie!

This is kind of a catch-all. A lot of folks show up & try to say, "But there isn't a RULE about that..." Now there is.

Came across this brand on tiktok, I've ordered a few bits in the pre order.
Pants - 16 tall AE cargo style Jacket - billabong (XL cause the length in L was too short 😭)
Everyone always stares but I'm learning to not care one day at a time. It's a process , truly.
I just impulse ordered a pair of “cropped” jeans from Poshmark that have an inseam of 24”, I’m 5’9 with fairly long legs. Am I screwed?
I just ruined my favourite light blue wide leg jeans with hard water and impulsively bought a pair that looked nice and was my size off Poshmark before reading the description. I tried to cancel the order less than 10 minutes after the order but the seller can’t cancel apparently? (Poshmark seems to have weird rules about this..)
Was it a total waste of money or is there a way cropped jeans can look good?
For reference the inseam of the pants I ruined was 32” and they were by no means too long, just hit the ankle line
I'm 5' 10" and have always liked my height but my niece is 11F and is struggling with the liklihood that she is going to be tall (she's currently 5'3"). I want her to see that there is nothing wrong with being tall. I'm planning on wearing heels more when I see her and embracing my height, but I'm wondering what you feel would have helped you when you were younger.
Post your selfies if you'd like!
Please report unwanted PMs you receive to modmail, if possible with a screenshot. See the Wiki for a list of users to preemptively block that are known problems to users for r/TallGirls.
I get a lot of stares because I am 6' and a bean pole and I'm an ethnicity that is usually known for being tiny. Usually it's just a quick glance out of curiousity. But some places, I get looked up and down and side eyed or glared at which is just rude. Usually the despising looks are from short old white guys. Do all tall girls get stared at like this or is it my ethnicity+being tall? Do you have some kind of come back or just ignore them? Curious how others handle this?
Use this thread to rant about your week.
Guy at Starbucks annoying you? Just lost the tread on your favorite pair of running shoes? Go ahead and tell us about it.
At 6'1 (26yo), I feel chronically awkward in my body. I am apprehensive to dancing or working out due to feeling hyperaware of my body/height.
Just thinking about the future if my own daughter feels the same, what activities could we do early on to help her feel more comfortable in her body.
I just want to quickly rant and also have a laugh about how I have been told I look like a “football line backer” by not only random men at the club but my brothers as well; thanks family!! SMH. Last weekend someone referred to me as “husky” due to my broad shoulders🙃🤪. People are getting BOLD lol. Stand tall, ladies 😘
Hey girls, I was wondering if anyone has been able to come across low rise baggy jeans with a 35-36 inseam that are ACTUALLY low rise, like not 9”+. The closest i’ve found is abercrombie’s low rise baggy jeans which are 8.5” and have an extra long 36 inseam, but i’m still looking for something that is more like 7-8”. If anyone has any good suggestions pls share!
Hey Ladies! My Daughter is tall like me, around 5'10 already. She discovered a site with Kawaii style clothing, some of it leaning cottage, some goth, or cutesy, but of course nowhere near either of our size. Can anyone here recommend some places to look for this style clothing? We are in the US & would be around size 16, 1x-2x generally, thinck thighs/broad shoulders/a bum, all those things that make it nearly impossible sometimes to fit a clothing item.smh...whyyyy is this STILL a problem? 😵💫😆. Thanks for any help 🙏.
I’m 179cm (5’11) and a big shoe size 43 in EU size (10 in US size). Does anyone know any stores, preferably online, where they have high heels for someone with my shoe size? I’ve looked around second hand stores but they don’t have any nice ones (and very hard to find the right size).
I (F6') must confess that I’m feeling down because of a bad experience this weekend... I’ve objectively experienced more street harassment and assaults than the average person, and it’s starting to take a toll on me psychologically.
When I go out, I often get approached by creepy men. Every **** time. I can usually handle men who are shorter than me (probably because of my height), but I struggle more with rejecting taller ones (most of my harassers were about 4 inches taller than me). And it's always the most persistent ones! I’ve done a lot of self-reflection and even asked my friends what might be wrong with me. They all agree on one thing: I’m a party-goer, attractive, but my height makes the problem worse.
We are more visible, we attract attention, we can't hide.
I know that these kinds of problems are related to my condition as a woman and not my height, but I wanted to know if other tall women in this sub were experiencing the same thing as me. A few months ago, I asked if tall women experienced more harassment than average, and the responses were mixed. That’s why I’m asking the question again, but this time to women living in big cities (over 500,000 inhabitants).
I was so hyped to get their cheetah print leggings/bra combo. But the length is awful. It’s at least 3-4 inches shorter and just looks awkward. I buy Lulu 28” and they fit great. But sometimes a girl just wants edgy athleisure.
Does anyone have good recs?
I feel bad for yall the most.
I just went to the public library and witnessed a customer comment on the library aide’s height and ask her a bunch of questions about playing basketball and modeling and having a tall husband. She sounded uncomfortable but she was trying to be nice.
the same thing happens when i work public facing jobs that don’t let me sit down.
The only people who are allowed to comment like that are kids and nice elderly people. for anyone else, if it’s not a compliment i don’t wanna hear it lol
I’m sure lots of you can relate. I can’t say it makes me angry because I’m not an angry person, but it’s exhausting.
Hello, tall friends!!!
First of all, I want to say how grateful I am to have found this section. All the posts I've read are positive and you're very polite. I feel at home just reading your stories and dilemmas.
Now, here's my story: Brazilian, curvy body type, 1,79cm (5'11" I think... sorry guys, I'm confused with the American measurement) and currently living in Portugal.
So now I'm looking for stores here in Europe (online or not - but within the European Union to avoid extra taxes). Mainly pants and winter coats (it's my first winter in the northern hemisphere and all my clothes from Brazil are just garbage here - they're not warm enough).
I've been looking at Asos (my boyfriend's recommendation and I've also read a lot of mentions here), I went to a North Face store yesterday and tried on some men's jackets and they were amazing; my boyfriend also said that Patagonia is an option.
Anyway, any good options in that region would be very well received. I found a few mentions, but they're all in separate posts. Maybe focusing on just one place will help other people too.
Thanks in advance 😍
So I'm a theatre student, and I was 6 foot when I was 14 which is even more tall cause I'm from Asia and everyone here is really short. Anywho when in roles and on stage my height always made me feel a little self conscious cause I felt like it was just strange and awkward, so I had this teacher who was like 6'7 and he said something that stuck with me: "your height isn't going anywhere, you're always going to be taller than everyone else, slouching and trying to minimize yourself doesn't make you fit in more, it just makes you look scared. Use your height, take up as much space as you want. You're always going to look tall, so be tall and confident." Idk it just always helped and realizing my height isn't going to change helped cause it just made me realize if I'm stuck with this forever, I need to make it something worth being stuck with
All the leggings I’m dining in tall sizes are high wasted and cover up to the belly button
Hey ya'll! I'm very new to this subreddit butttt I wanna share one of my favourite brands for jeans! It's called thewildflowerclub and their inseam sizes go to 38! Anyway, just wanted to share for all my tall girlies out there!
ps. It is a European brand so i'm not 100% sure if they ship outside of Europe :)
Has anyone ever tried leggings or pants from edikted? Is it true to size? Models that I bought the clothing from were 5,8 and 5,9 but I’m still a bit skeptical because they’re a size small and I’m a medium. I’m 5,8 for reference.
I really hate that subreddit… either they make jokes putting us down (like that horrible meme that got super popular a few weeks ago) or they deny we ever have problems.
Today I saw a post from a tall girl in r/tall saying she never had a problem with dating being tall and that if you do you’re probably just ugly or whatever. All the guys in the comments were eating it up and saying how tall girls who complain about that stuff were just victimizing themselves. I’m glad that she never had a problem but that def wasn’t the case for me in high school who was taller than every guy and got picked on 💀.
I feel like guys on r/tall don’t get what it’s like, because being a tall guy is like 100% positive socially. It’s not even about dating (I don’t think I have problems with that anymore) but just the general experience of feeling bigger than everyone else too.
I’m glad that this community exists, it’s nice to find people who can relate.
I love scuba diving and I'm trying to find a 3mm full length wetsuit. The problem? I'm 5'10 and have a 26in waist. All the wetsuits I try on have a huge bubble around my waist and back and I still feel like it's pulling down on my shoulders. Any suggestions?
r/scuba suggested custom. I don't have $2k to drop on a wetsuit though. Would like to keep it under $1k.
I am fine squatting for exercise but trying to squat over a toilet is so hard for me. I usually just carry around wipes or line the toilet with tissue.I remember someone saying the taller you get the harder it is to squat.
I’m 5’10 with broad shoulders and very long arms. I’ve been trying to look for a winter coat here in HK, but a lot of places are Asian fit. 😳
I did check out the outlet mall for North Face and Patagonia, but I think even the women’s coat sizes don’t fit well. I feel like they taper the waist in womenswear, but I am not a curvy petite woman. I am a tall ruler basically. Anyway, these coats seem to fit weird—either too short on the arms or tight and boxy around the chest and torso.
I even checked out the Marks & Spencer’s here, and surprisingly every single coat in the store was way too short on the arms, although loose on the body.
Should I be shopping in the men’s section for winter coats? Has anyone found any success in finding a winter coat (not peacock or trench) that is long enough on the arms but also not unflattering or unfitting in the body? (I don’t need fitted; I just want something that fits without looking weird on me.)
I’ve been here for less than 24hrs & the amount of 6ft+ women I have seen just walking down the street is crazy! In the UK I’m the tallest woman in the room 95% of the time at 5’10 - here I feel positively average 😳 I’m going to do some shopping - hopeful of maybe finding some 34” inseam jeans in a store for once!
just curious if you have any song recommendations that mention tall women positively? any genre. the two i can think of off the top of my head are
girls in the hood by megan thee stallion
suddenly i see by kt tunstall
Just wanted to recommend Eddie Bauer for anyone looking for warm winter legwear. I bought a pair of their fleece-lined jeans a few years ago and yesterday was the first day this year that was finally cold enough to wear them again. They are long enough (36" inseam), well made and definitely cozy for a cold, windy day in New England. That's all!
I'm shopping for a very specific gift and running into the challenge of finding overalls with a long enough inseam.
I've used the search function here quite a bit but haven't been successful. Most recommendations are for Carhartt, but their tall insulated overalls are listed with a 33" inseam, and Duluth doesnt have anything longer that I can find. Are y'all buying Men's sizes to get them long enough?
Please let me know your go-to warm, durable, insulated overalls that would work for a size 8/10 US; 5'11" girl with a 36" inseam. I don't need the gift before Christmas, but really appreciate any experience you can share.
