Hey folks! Thought I’d slide this pic of the headunit I got installed in my 2016 Outback. Great upgrade getting Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and the built in amplifier in the new head unit makes the standard speakers sound really good. Might upgrade them later to better take advantage of the features of the head unit, but very happy retained app features from original headunit too!!

2025 Subaru Outback Premium with Package 13
My wife just bought an outback wilderness, 2 people have told her that they aren't so great in snow, wtf. One was her friend who said she would drive the Prius over the outback in the snow, the other a friend who said he had seen Subarus having difficulties in the canyons in snow. I know this is BS but why do people take it upon themselves to inform her of their dumbass opinions?
I much prefer the wheel well cladding of the 2022 Outback to that on later years. Does anyone know if the cladding of later years can be replaced with the 22's?
My last dash cam, a rexing w/rear camera just crapped out on me where it won't hold a charge because of the internal battery. I'm in the market for a replacement, ideally the same/similar setup with a front/rear.
I'm open to hardwiring it this time if anyone has experience with that can chime in I'd appreciate it.
Thoughts on cloud upload as well? Worth it?
Own a 2017 Outback 2.5i Premium with 115,000 miles and it's generally been problem free other than a couple of minor electrical gremlins since I bought it new.
Brought the car into the Subaru dealer because it started to overheat yesterday and was just given the laundry list of problems. On the cooling side it needs coolant cross over pipe O rings, CVT thermostat, complete set of new hoses and coolant flush, engine thermostat and other small misc items all totaling about $2200 at the dealer.
Then the big expense is an engine reseal because the timing cover, oil pan and cam carriers are leaking and that's $4600.
Throw in a few extra small jobs like brakes and sway bar boots for another $1000.
This is driven in Arizona, mostly commuting and driving to trailheads on the weekends. If I drop close to $8000 how many more miles do you think I could get out of this vehicle? Or better to take $8000 and spend it on a down payment? Was hoping to keep this car for another 2-3 years and then trade it in.
Today my infotainment system came up with a new software update, which I proceeded with. After restarting the car I was shocked to find out that none of my car features work. The heat, Bluetooth, entertainment, radio, nothing works. The screen is just black. I took it to the dealership and they spent two hours trying to reset it, with no luck.
So now they’re telling me it’s going to be $4000 to replace everything. My car is 3.5 years old.
Has anyone experienced this??? I’m just in disbelief as I did what the system update instructed me to do and now my car isn’t functional?
I’m having trouble deciding between these two colors! What do we think? Both have gray interior.
Just over a year of owning my car, i stupidly bought the first one I test drove- here’s the issues i have.
-(this one is on me) but it’s almost at 200k miles on a 2018 outback
I have to save up around $15k before I can even think about purchasing a new car, I really want to get another outback/ and or a forester but my boyfriend isn’t impressed by this one and wants me to consider a different brand.
any catback or axel back recs and can i get uel headers?
Hello, I have a new outback with stock street tires and want to switch them for the 17 inch wilderness wheels with the Yokohama GeoLander tires.
My question is twofold. Does anybody know how much louder these tires are? Also, I know the wilderness has worse fuel economy. Should I expect my fuel economy to decrease significantly with the tire swap? Or is the decreased fuel efficiency due to other wilderness trim specific factors like increased lift, etc. Thanks in advance.
Slept in the back of the car but packed too much stuff for one night, planning to adjust/organize better for next time Would you recommend a roof top tent or a tent that hangs off the back?
I have a 2025 onyx with 18" rims.
I'm curious if I can get away with moving my snow tires over from my old car.
They're 235/65R18, which is ~30" diameter well beyond the 29" recommend max or the widely report 29.5" the wildpeak Falken people all recommend.
Still I see reports of 245/60R18 fitting, which I expect would rub more laterally when the wheel is turned all the way, being wider.
There's even a comment of someone claiming to use this exact tire size on 2018

I would absolutely not buy new tires this large, but can I get away with using these a few seasons?
If it's not obvious, left rear tire shows 10 psi yet it's not marked as low. The 3 tires that are almost full show as low.
??
I bought my car used and it’s missing a tire iron, need one asap, hoping to get one today but want to make sure I get the right one.
Hi I was curious to know if you can use your key fob to remote start the 2024 Outback??
I’m getting the ADF 2” lift, but wondering what tire size to go with afterwards? 245/65/17 seems to be the way, but I think you can get a little bigger if you drop to a 16” wheel? Any recommendations/suggestions? 2016 2.5 premium
I'm just looking for a lower cost way to get a slight improvement in sound quality and maybe some more bass. Would a new amplifier accomplish this?
Hey Subaru family. So I am in the market to purchase a recovery tow cable and looking for recommendations that work will with the connectors on the Outback Wilderness 2025.
I've been going on some ski trips the last few weekends and let's just say my friends have been getting into some messy situations with their non-subarus in the snow. Last weekend I had to push my buddies Cadillac up a hill to get to the airbnb. Wild stuff. My OBW of course had no issues in the snow, drives like a dream even on unplowed roads.
That being said I want to get some cables to have on hand incase one of my buddies need to be recovered from a snow bank.
Any suggestions on what cables to buy that attach easily to the connection points in the back of the OBW?
Battery finally died after I posted 16 days ago. Auto Zone is the only place right now with my battery available. Is this a good one?

Just a rav4 owner showing some love to the subie community, saw this really cool lifted subie at the gas station and was impressed at how aggressive it looks.
I know it’s been discussed. But here’s the scenario. 2013 started making kazoo sound when RPM lowered. Took it dealer. They said it’s a bad CVT. 7000 dollars please. Since then I have put 10k on the car. Question can I add transmission fluid without draining. And secondly if all these CVTs are F’d why has the price to rebuild not gone down ?
Hi there! I've been having issues with my truck not opening consistently and was told I need to replace the motor. Was quoted over $700 for replacement. I saw that the part is about $300 so I was wondering how I could replace it myself.
Is there anyone who has done this and could share their experience.
It's a 2016
Picked up my 2019 Outback this weekend. Happy to join the club.
This will be my second car, I drove it and it drive nice and all the carfax were available, it's a rebuilt with the side replaced. No frame damage and no air bags deployed. Was wondering if I would be paying too much for a 12 year old vehicle lol. Thanks all.
Totaled my car the other day and kind of in a pinch to buy a used car asap. Looking at a 2011 outback later today. 133K miles for the price of 7.5K. That’s pretty much my budget right now, don’t want to have a car payment. Looks clean and well maintained, I would be the 3rd owner, timing belt was claimed to be replaced last year, new tires last year as well. Heated seats, Bluetooth and navigation system. Any advice?
I had an accident in my 2014 Forester (that has been totaled) and walked away with little to no injuries. The tow truck driver that recovered my Forester was floored that I was walking around two days later. So I'm definitely looking at another Subaru.
I'm looking at used Outbacks. The two that I'm looking at right now are both Limited 3.6r's. One is a 2019 with 57,000 miles, and a 2017 with 63,000 miles. They're both priced around within a $500 of each other.
I know that they're of the same generation, but I'm trying to figure out if the older one is a better deal because of fewer miles per year.
I'm kind of leaning towards the newer one because it's newer, and has low mileage.
What are your thoughts?
TIA
I don’t know if it’s being self conscious or something else but I always feel like people have a hate on for Subaru or the outback in particular because it’s different. It’s mainly the Mazdas cx5, Honda crvs and Toyota rav4s. When they get close in traffic they pace you or try to “show you up” by changing lane right in front of you as if to assert dominance.
Tonight this CRV is behind me in the passing lane on a 3 lane highway while I’m pacing the car in front hoping they’d move over and let me pass but they don’t and I see a CRv behind me pacing me for a good minute or two at a safe and reasonable distance so I just move moved to let them pass only for them to cut in front of me within a car length and no signal either. I took it personally but shrugged it off and keep going. Mind you it’s raining so they going that close in front me is giving me considerable spray. Exit is coming up and I signal to get off the highway and in my approach I pass them without drama. Moments after passing them with the turn off in about 1 mile away they change lane to follow suit. I’m aware of who it is and just kind of lift off the throttle as it’s a tight turn off with construction and again, raining. The driver starts to speed up close as if to motivate me to move faster only I do the opposite and just lift and coast. They make an anemic attempt at high beaming me once which was barely noticed and continue to coast and they get the message and back off.
Seriously, why do people of other names in similar class always have to flex or each other up? It’s an ego thing for sure.
