I have a 2024 Ascent running FM1WHM073-980. I am having phone audio/carplay issues as described in the patch notes for the 073-980 version I already have.
How do I find the latest version number?
Is there a trick to opening the trunk while the car is on? I push this button and it beeps but doesn’t open. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong lol I have a 2020 touring
Why is my car’s fuel consumption reading increasing dramatically while idling, even though I started at 14 litres per 100 km? It has gone up to 22 litres per 100km . Is this normal or should I be concerned about a potential issue for ascent ?
Hi, i got 2021 Subaru Ascent Premier (canadian top model) earlier this year (love the car so far!!) and it on original Falken tires with 50k kms on them. I live in Toronto so we get fair bit of snow but I mostly drive local, only 5 to 10 kms a day. I am debating if I should go for winter tires or all weather tires. With winter tires I will need new rims and they are very expensive around 300 per rim, plus availability is low for 20 inch in my area. If I go for all weather, i can keep the same tires all season. Please suggest what's the right approach and also if there are other tire sizes I can go for which might be more budget friendly.
Have 4 OEM wheels that I took off my wife’s ascent. In awesome condition 9.5+/10
I’m in Eastern Idaho but traveling to Salt Lake area later this month. Not looking for much maybe $200 for the set but just wanted to see if anyone interested? DM me!
I’ll admit that I’m still learning to love the looks of this ride but with the windows tinted and light rain on an overcast day…. It’s not bad
I’ve put 1000 miles on it in the last 2 weeks so it’s starting to reveal its merits as a transportation device as well
Was quoted a Selling Price (before batt, tire, tags, tax, title, svc, and security plus) of $40,493 for a 2024 7 pass. Onyx Ascent (non-Limited Onyx) in Orlando. Wondering if that's a fair price or if we could do better?
I'm considering an Ascent as our next car, but a little sceptical about cargo space/volume. Coming from a 4th gen 4Runner. If you have a spare minute, could you measure the floor to ceiling height in the cargo area, forward of the sill/hump? I was at the dealer the other day but neither of us had a tape measure handy.
Yesterday I said goodbye toy beloved 15 Forester and picked up our new 24 Ascent Premium. Originally we were going to wait until the end of November to start looking, but I was offered a deal too good to pass up, $4,900 off sticker.
So far I have put about 80 miles on it since picking it up and I am loving it. It is a grown up version of my Forester. I love the increased interior room and the fact that when we move stuff, I can rent a trailer for 1/4 of the price of renting a truck. My daughter has decided she wants to always ride in the 3rd row because it is easier for her to buckle herself vs the captains chairs. I am in love with eth starlink remote start. It is soo much better than the fob remote start I had ony Forester which had a range of like 80-150 feet on a clear sunny day. Like 30-50 feet on an overcast day. I am so looking forward to continuing our adventures with the Ascent.
I can't wait until I get passed the break in period so I can really open her up and experience the true power of the turbo.
I’m going on a week long trip soon and am looking to buy a cargo basket since between me, my wife, and our 4 kids we really don’t have much room to pack stuff lol. I already followed others suggestions on here on getting OEM crossbars, but still need the cargo basket.
I’m hoping for a good quality one in an affordable range (hopefully under $300 but preferably not more than $400), that produces little to no added noise. The larger, the better most likely as I’d like to pack as much as I can up there rather than in the vehicle but still want to be able to open the trunk.
Anyone who bought one that loves theirs, could you please share with me the model or link to buy it? I’d greatly appreciate it.
Reading lots of mixed reviews on many I’m seeing, some love them, while others claim they rust super fast or are made poorly. Definitely want a worthwhile investment that will last many years. Picture shown on this post is one I’m considering but also has plenty of mixed reviews and I’d have to measure to make sure the back hatch can open without issues.
I am shopping for my first Subaru Ascent. Looking at new, but considering CPO's. I'm trying to manage the costs, but I do appreciate the niceties, so I'm really wanting the moonroof and I do want the Harman Kardon stereo. However, options with the Harman are more limited and drive up the cost.
Those people that have really experienced both, more than just the test drive, should I really be pushing for the Harman Kardan? Or is the standard stereo good enough that it won't mess me up if I choose a vehicle without the Harman?
I appreciate the input, thank you.
Why do you they use 38 to represent the max volume level?
My 2021 Subaru Ascent with 32,000 miles just started having an issue when shifting from Park to Drive it makes a weird noise. It stops after it warms up. I took it to the dealer and they have been able to replicated it once or twice but are having issues pinpointing the issue. They told me it’s safe to drive.
I have done research and found some forms and videos where others are saying it’s a normal sound. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m worried it’s a CVT issue and it won’t truly show itself until the warranty expires.
2020 Ascent, got the iPhone 16…no more CarPlay! The firmware is up to date in the car and on the phone. Tried different cords, both usb ports—the phone will charge but that’s it. Anyone else experiencing this?
I make sure the alarm is on the night before. When I wake up to check the trunk is open. It happened before causing the original battery to die. I tried to recharge it but it won’t keep the charge so I got an Interstate battery. I found it open again this morning. How can I prevent this?
Have a 2020 limited. When I'm not connected to my phone, I like listen to the local radio. In particular, the HD stations. I'm located about 20 minutes away from downtown and it seems like signal is easily lost.
Has anyone experienced this? I'm considering a signal booster, but if there's something easier, I'm game.
I'm looking for instructions on how to connect Dongar USB extension cable to rear view mirror on my Subaru 2024 Ascent. Any link or pointers please share ?
What % of MSRP should I be able to get for a 2024 New model. I assume I can get a good deal as the 2025s are coming in. FWIW: I am paying cash or using external financing.
Planning to get our first suv. I would like to know if there are any major pitfalls on subaru ascent cvt, have seen lot of outbacks and foresters crossing 200K without major issues. This will be our first AWD as well. Subaru dealer quoted base price at 18 K for 2019 Limited one owner
Sorry not the best picture but is there a way to change this Apple CarPlay layout? Currently it’s showing
Top: Map (navigation)
Bottom left: Map (voice command)
Bottom right, now playing.
Tried googling it but it only shows me how to change the order of the icon in home screen but not this layout.
Hi, I am curious to check with other owners of the Ascent that has only ceiling rear vents what are the settings that you have on your My Subaru app to remote start it?
Right now I have:
What are your settings and do you have any suggestion?
I have an 85k mile old 2019 and it just sort of feels like it runs not very well. Not quite sure how to describe it. Sluggish, hesitation, smoke on start up. I am assuming there's fairly significant gunk build up on intake valves. I am only planning to keep the car 1.5 more years while it is still under extended warranty. Is it worth having intake valves professionally cleaned? Cost about $450 I believe. This is from a 3rd party subaru specialist. They remove the intake manifold to do the job.
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm not finding anything anywhere.
I have a 2019 Ascent. Several times now, and usually it seems to be right at about 30 minutes into my drive to work, the RAB, eyesight, and lane departure turn off, the radio resets itself, and the check engine light comes on. Today when it happened the car sort of jolted right as it happened too (while I was doing about 73-75 on the thruway).
Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm guessing it's a computer issue, but when I asked my mechanic about it he said it would probably be something I have to take to Subaru for a reset.
Hi
Has anyone found a good cup holder “upgrade” for the front seat? My Nalgene bottle and a few others just don’t fit at all.
2019 Ascent
TIA
Hello Ascentians,
I am looking to finally say goodbye to my 15 Forester Premium after 125k wonderful miles. I have decided on an Ascent as we are looking for something larger, can occasionally tow whatever and to me it reminds me of a Forester all grown up. I am someone who over analyzes everything thanks to ASD.
Here comes my dilemma. I ma stuck between the Premium and the Onyx. Both Premium and Onyx I got quote for have the same equipment and the only things I would want added are the trailer hitch and rear seatback protectors which neither have. Both already have the all weather mats, Cargo tray, Led upgrade, and exterior dimming mirrors. The prices I got quote are: Premium MSRP $40,568, Quote $35,662, Onyx MSRP $44,075, Quote $39,668.
The only thing the Onyx has that I would like is the moonroof, but is having a moonroof really worth $4k more over the Premium trim as I could honestly care less for the heated steering wheel, etc. Plus I have never been a fan of the black wheels fad. I was thinking the $4k in savings could pay for the trailer hitch and other stuff I want added plus a nice Gold Plus Warranty as I plan to keep it for 8-10 years. Plus my wife has a 23 Forester Limited, so I could always drive that to get my moonroof fix.
Sorry for the long winded post. Any advice Suggestions?
Thanks.
Update: I looked at them, yesterday, went with the Premium and take delivery tomorrow. When looking at the Onyx, nothing made me want it over the Premium. The most surprising part was the moonroof cover is just a sheet of fabric, not a hard over like our Forester have. That was a turn off for me. I originally wanted the red or possibly blue and felt I was "settling" for the white. In person, the red and blue were not as exciting looking to me as they looked online, but the white has this glow to it that doesn't appear in pics online. I am so looking forward to picking it up and will definitely post pics up.
