Pixels skipping gyro dualsense edge

This is an obscure issue that lead to no answers as the edge is a brand new controller. I suspect I know what the problem is, but it's making my dualsense edge unusable. So, this thread is for the poor souls googling for what is no solution.

When using gyro to aim on any game, my dualsense edge skips pixels (gyro mouse emulation)

Doesn't matter the game. When I plug in a regular dualsense or ps4 controller, the pixels do NOT skip. Was thinking about reinstalling the edge drivers on PC. Until then, I have a $200 paperweight. Any solutions?

Pro Controller Gyro Auto-Calibration Tolerance Maxing Out

I'm trying to auto-calibrate my pro controller, but the noise tolerance threshold is maxed out, even with the slider all the way to the right it won't fill the calibration bar.

I can't see any way to manually adjust the different gyro readings, but there's a constant 1.5~ degrees per second on the roll detection.

Is there a way to do this through Steam, or even another app to do manual calibration?

Why did they ruin steam input?

Ever since I updated steam earlier this year and there was a major UI change, steam input has become a million times more frustrating than it ever used to be.

Issue #1 - I had to re-learm where some things are now located Thanks Valve.

Issue #2 - runs like crap and lags. Also the interface for mapping to the numpad seems to change when it feels like it.

Issue #3 - if I do not export any changes I make as a new layout, NONE of my changes are retained and it reverts to previous settings.

Issue # 4 - setting up additional mappings takes more monkeying around than it used to. I could previously set up every aspect of a chorded press in one fell swoop whereas now I have to click back into the settings for that button to specify every aspect such as the activator type, what button it chords with, etc. Why the f¥€k would they make it less elegant and easy to use?

Is it just me? This $h!t is beyond maddening.

I need help trying to jury-rig controller support for a Survivors-like Horde game

I'm using a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller and already have gyro set up as a mouse for precision movements and navigating menus. The game is a top-down 2D game, Sun Down, with mouse aiming based on the position of the cursor on the screen and WASD movement. The things that are troubling me are:

  1. Can I have the mouse cursor move in a very small circle around the character in the center, instead of going all the way to the edges of the screen? This is so I can see the cursor easily and know what angles my shots will probably be taking. I want an aiming reticle similar to how Nuclear Throne or 20 Minutes Till Dawn's aiming works, on gamepad settings.
  2. Can the mouse cursor be automatically reset to the exact center of the screen, every time I finished tilting the right stick? I want it to always be calibrated to go back to the center, like how an analog stick aiming works once you let it go.
  3. Should I just invest in something with a trackpad, instead of trying to aim with joystick?

Rumble on long press (DualSense)

As far as I could see, the haptic feedback setting doesn't do anything on any buttons on the DualSense. That's fine, I'd probably turn them all off if, they'd do anything. :)

However, I've got a very complex mapping where I'd love to add a short rumble on certain long presses. Is there any way to achieve that?

I'm using a DualSense (Edge), but this question basically applies to any controller.

Is there a guide for releasing a button when another is pressed?

Im playing devil may cry 5 and In the middle of battle, i find myself fumbling between hook and ability so i would prefer they be separate buttons. Ive got paddles on my controller to add 2 more actions and would like 1 to be this.

For example, on my 8BitDo controller i set my left paddle to be a simultanious press of lock on and jump to act as a sort of dodge button. I plan on doing the same with lock on and B for the right paddle to act as a quick hook button.

I dont think the controller software can do release configuragions and i was hoping steam input could but i cant find an exact guide for what im looking for.

I was wondering if there was a way to set B to also release RT (lock on) as a way to always have it be the arm ability. That way, if i have lock on held down, it can quickly remove lock on and use the ability

Trying to setup controller similar to Division 2/Destiny for Borderlands 3 but struggling

Never delved much into steam input, usually leaned on DS4 windows for most of my needs and modifier/shift keys but it doesnt suit my needs for this particular thing.

Need to have the slots 2-3 to swap between as weapon primaries, press and hold triangle on PS4 button to swap to slot 4, and swap to slot 1 for by double tapping a triangle.

Managed to get kinda close ithink but nut the switch state with steaminput and extra/sub feature for buttons is a bit out of my league and there was a noticable input delay, any help would be appreciated.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma - Left Analog Camera Control While Charging

I made an action set for Ninja Gaiden Sigma. It adds camera control to the left analog stick when holding the button to charge a strong attack. While charging, any incoming hit will break your charge, so visibility is vital. And by default your character is stationary so the left analog stick was unused. It's a small addition but with the camera in this game you need all the help you can get.

Steam input issues

I have spent dozens, if not hundreds of hours on steam input until taking a break from steam for a few months (I got a ps5 which distracted me).

Now that I boot steam back up I see that there's been a major update and suddenly I cannot get previous bindings I created to "stick." I press square on my controller to apply the template, as the interface dictates, and it doesn't do it. It immediately switches back to the recommended binding template.

Some added details: the control scheme I am trying to bind was originally created for dualsense but I want to use it with my Nacon PS4 controller which has back paddles n stuff. In the past, steam would warn you that it'll do its best to translate the scheme over but you could dismiss this notification and it would work 99% of the time. Now I have no such luck.

I just want to know if this is a new problem created by the update or if the way to make it work has simply changed and if so, what I can do to avoid tearing my hair out and manually copying everything over one button at a time.

Thanks in advance fellas

Action group overlay doesn’t appear

Hey SteamInput users !

I play Guild Wars 2 with my Xbox controller and I use my own template in Steam Input. Before the new UI update of Steam BPM I had an overlay of my action groups name on my screen when I pressed with the corresponding button in game. But since the update and even if I enabled the overlay for BPM through the « in-game » option in Steam preference, I still haven’t the overlay.

Note: I added Guild Wars 2 as a NON steam game, as usual and as before the Steam update

Thanks in advance for your help !

Is there a community profile layout for playing league of legends with Steam Input on the Steam Deck?

Is there any premade community controller templates for league of legends?

A second cursor?

Trying to incorporate a second reticle for aiming in a top down. Is anything like this possible with steam input? It doesn’t need to be a cursor, just something that moves with the X and Y input of the right stick.

Change default keys used to navigate big picture.

I am usually pretty good with using steam input but I am kinda stumped on this one.

How can I change or remap the keyboard keys used in big picture? By default the arrows keys and enter keys are used to navigate around gaming mode. How can I change the input so that I can use wasd and something other than enter to navigate big picture?

I would also like a keyboard shortcut to bring up the on screen keyboard.

Action Set Layer setting not saved for xinput controller

I've created an action set layer with the intention of allowing me to switch between the right trigger being activated by holding it down and it being activated by pressing to toggle it on and off. I was able to set this up successfully for the Steam Deck's integrated controller by having the default bindings in the default action set, and within the layer, I change the settings of the right trigger to enable toggle mode triggers > right trigger behavior > R2 full pull > cog icon > settings > toggle.

Switching between default and the layer, I can see that in the default toggle is disabled for R2 and in the layer it is enabled.

If I try to do the same thing with my xinput controller, I can follow all of the same steps but when I attempt to verify that toggle is off in default and on in the layer, I see that the change to the toggle setting wasn't saved. I actually went and did the setup for the steam deck controller afterwards to see if it also didn't work in that context, but found that it worked as expected.

Has anyone else had this issue and found a workaround? Can anyone else replicate this issue?

Help I messed up my Steam Input

So I went to play Monster Hunter Rise and all of a sudden today my controller config isn't working correctly. Tried to re-apply it but there's apparently a new form of Steam Input interface? And it doesn't like my old config? OK so I told it to disable Steam Input thinking it might revert back to the old config but instead it just dumped me out of it entirely and now I can't use my controller at all and trying to click on "controller configuration" just gives me an error window that flies away immediately. Any ideas how to unfuck this situation?

Soft pull only

Is there a way to make it so that when I pull a trigger, no matter how much I push it it only activates the soft pull command?

This would be for vice city, where a soft pull allows for free aim but a full pull of the trigger locks on to targets. I want to disable the target ability.

Desktop mode does not activate after closing Halo: The MCC

I have to click my mouse once on the desktop and then it resumes like normal, otherwise it is unresponsive. It is only with this game and I can confirm it is not still open in my task manager.

Sometimes my steam input templates don't load

They even not showing in my list of saved templates, after some time it fixes automatically, looks like this problem appeared after steam input redesign couple of months ago. How to fix it manually? Is anybody having this problem?

Switching action set via AutoHotkey

Is there a way to switch action set via AutoHotkey? AHK can't inject gamepad input the way it injects keyboard input, so that won't work. I also don't see any way to assign keyboard input to action set switching in Steam. Maybe some DLL call I could use?

For context:

I'm playing Guild Wars 2 with controller. Most of the time, I'm using action cam, so it basically plays like an action adventure – the usual thing when it comes to controller mapping. However, GW2 is very mouse centric for all "administrative" tasks, e.g. inventory management. For that, I made a mouse action set (using the gyro for mouse movement) and configured Steam to switch between the two sets depending on whether the mouse pointer is visible. This works generally great.

There are some issues, however. Even in mouse mode, the game sometimes hides the pointer during drag operations, causing Steam to switch to action mode. There's also a bug in GW2 that causes the mouse pointer to spontaneously flicker sometimes. It's not visible, but it messes up my input. Also, the gyro mouse movement tends to "bleed" through to action cam, so whenever I switch to action, the camera moves slightly. These issues aren't breaking, but annoying.

I've already added some support via AutoHotkey, e.g. to center the mouse when entering mouse mode. The AHK script can determine whether the mouse is visible with a simple DLL call to GetCursorInfo, i.e. the script "knows" which mode we're in as well. If I could transfer control of which action set is active to the AHK script, I'd be able to fix all these issues, e.g. block mouse input for a few millis after switching to action mode or not switching to action while a mouse button is pressed.

My DualSense 5 keeps shutting down

This is on No Man's Sky, and it started happening ever since they added support for the adaptive triggers. The controller shuts down on it's own from time to time (even with a full battery) and it's the only game where it happens, I can go non stop for hours on any other game (Elden Ring, Warframe, Asterigos, Valkyrie Elysium and Hot Wheels Unleashed, to name a few).

Is it windows sucking ass at handling Bluetooth or is it something else?, I'm using an ASUS USB BT-400 to connect it.

[Official Pro Controller] Player Slot LED is Not Working

I'm running the latest public beta of Steam and have a (official) Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. Everything Works fine except for the "Player Slot LED" option in "Settings>Controller>General Controller Settings>Nintendo Switch Pro Controller".

My Player Slot LED is just stuck on slot 2 with no other controllers and I've already tried removing it from device manager and re-pairing.

Does the above setting work on your Pro controller('s)? Are they official ones? Is there any way to troubleshoot mine?

Dual Sense 5 adaptive triggers.

While playing No Man's Sky I noticed they somehow managed to use the adaptive triggers of this thing to have them slowly start pushing back as my multitool heats up, or a stronger push with my gun's recoil.

I've been looking around to see how they did this, and I've not found any configuration for this in Steam's configuration; anyone knows if this can be done on other games, or just those with direct Steam Input allow it?.

Virtual Menus not working in non-steam games?

Using the Citra emulator and trying to configure a virtual menu. Specifically, a radial menu. I have it the menu set to the right stick on an action layer when I hold down another button (D-pad right). When I'm holding the button, the camera stops moving on the right stick as expected, but I don't see any radial menu. The desired effect of the input has happened anyway during testing very few times and is not replicable for me at all, which is strange; in any case, I cannot figure out the virtual menu because I cannot see it.
