I’m going to grind out all the endings for SHR2. I just did my first play through and got the ‘in water’ ending in normal combat and puzzle setting. My question now is, if I start a new game and put the combat to light would that affect the endings I get? Or is it all based on meeting the requirements?
You have to go out of your way to get the Maria ending by going back and interacting with her at basically every instance, so unless you're specifically aiming for her ending, I imagine her ending is less common than the others. But if you go out of your way to avoid Maria, the game's narrative gets...weird.
A lone defenseless hot woman shows up, acts super friendly and flirty to James, and he proceeds to
I know a lot of the underlying devastation is more about James seeing someone who reminds him of Mary dying again, but I feel like the game's narrative implies that James spends more time with Maria than what you normally would in the Leave or In Water endings. Without it, he feels like kind of a massive douche, even if he does know deep down she's not real.
I finally beat the remake and was certain I’d get the “leave” ending. I made sure I was always healed and only looked at Mary’s items a handful of times at the very beginning and not once did I look at the knife.
I love the original and was expecting to get the same ending on this one too and to be honest it kinda soured me on this one at the very last moment. I don’t plan replaying it anytime soon. Bummer.
What are your thoughts on why this would happen?
Just finished Silent Hill 2 Remake, first time through. In the end of game stats page it says I checked my map 1,198 times 😳
How are you meant to turn the radio off before the first enemy triggers it? The second the cutscene after picking it up ends, my radio instantly goes off
Does this not matter? Am I missing something, or is it bugging for me 🥲
Tried googling, but everything just says 'immediately turn it off before the first enemy', but for me the static is already coming from the controller before I'm even able to open the menu
Setting aside any concerns about pacing later in the game (which I don’t really feel myself since this kind of gameplay is what I play these types of games for, but know some others do) the level, puzzle and set-piece design is pretty damn great. These are the most “dungeon-like” interiors I’ve encountered yet in the genre, and I really love that about this game.
They manage to make each location feel really distinct, at least before it’s “Otherworld”ed, and constantly keep things fresh by introducing new enigmatic and mysterious set-piece puzzles (influenced by the OG but remixed), diverse enemy encounters—there isn’t a huge number of enemy types but the scenarios you find them in varies widely, keeping you on your toes—and awesome climactic boss battles (and mini-bosses!).
I also found the interconnectedness and cleverness of the dungeon layouts and level-design really satisfying to slowly crack open and unravel piece by piece, and I found the many well-placed shortcuts to be immensely gratifying to eventually open up and finally be able to use that convenient door you’d been locked out of for so long. I had so many “Oh, I’m back here again!” moments while exploring the many labyrinthine corridors.
Overall, I’m just really impressed with how seamlessly and, IMO, expertly they’ve translated that OG Survival Horror gameplay goodness I love so much to the modern era—polishing it up just enough so it feels fluid and approachable but also showing a really commendable level of restraint in introducing too many “modern sensibilities” and tarnishing it. Had such a blast crawling through those spooky, darker-than-dark corridors…
The radio turns on when you first see Pyramid Head in the apartments even if you have it turned off for the achievement…that scared the shit outta me.
Golly gee oh me. I found this photo in Blue Creek apartments, but when you try to unlock the door at room 208… I shit my pants. 😩 something on the other side is trying to get out.
I couldnt figure out how to get into the room… What does it mean?
I'm just wondering if anyone has ran into the Eddie bug yet besides me. Basically, in the freezer, his final form is when the meat bags start moving around, Eddie's body completely disappears. You still see his gun moving around but there's no way to kill him so the only choice you have is to let invisible Eddie kill you. Thankfully, reloaded it and Eddie was there in the final part but it's annoying since he's one of the harder bosses in the game and I still haven't beaten him. Hopefully I don't run into it again.

As rare as it is, it seems to be the case that normal people can turn into monsters in Silent Hill. We see it with Leonard, who must have been a human at one point to procreate Claudia ^(^unless^her^mother^had^really^weird^taste^) , we see it in one of Homecoming's endings when Alex turns into Pyramid Head, we see it in the Orphan mobile game were the final boss was a childhood friend and we see it in Downpour when Murphy becomes the Boogeyman when fighting Anne.
The last one is the most obvious one that people actually can become monsters, but it's also puzzling, because none of them acknowledge that it happened.
The same is true in Silent Hill 3, where Heather never stops to ask herself:" Wait a minute. Shouldn't this guy have been a regular dude? Why was Claudia's father a monster?".
The only time this is ever acknowledged happening is in the mobile game, given that the protagonist and final boss were childhood friends. And even then, if I remember correctly, it was only said in a vague tone and not in a concrete way, not to mention that the game most likely isn't canon anyway.
So all in all, the question lingers in a, most likely intended, limbo, where it's neither confirmed nor outright denied, but given what we see in the games, I would say that it is possible.
I also left out Lisa, because she's not a regular monster like all the other creatures, but a ghost.

Was playing "someday you will return" and found our boy there.
The game itself is amazing so far and better than I was expecting for a remake. As I was playing I realized that most of the clothes needed to pull off an okay James were already part of my regular wardrobe. The only two items I needed were the flashlight and gray dress shirt. My first and probably last cosplay.
