I’m considering on attending Pierce in the fall and I was wondering if anyone knew much about associates degree for nursing at Pierce? For example, how long would it take to complete the course and how rigorous it was or whether or not it was good program in general?

For those like me who like to have music on the background while studying

Here is a regularly updated playlist dedicated to new independent French producers. Several electronic genres covered, but mostly chill. A good backdrop for concentration and relaxation. Perfect for my late-night study sessions.

Moving Cross-Country for College

For context, I’m 18 and moving from North Carolina to the LA area this summer, sharing an apartment with a friend of mine. I’m considering a few community colleges, and Pierce is one of them. So, how is the experience? How’d you make friends? All advice is greatly appreciated!

r/LAPierceCollege is open again for posting! 🌸🎓

Hey Brahmas, happy spring! I'm here to share some updates on the subreddit.

You can post again! We've been in restricted mode ever since the old mods moved on with life (3 or 4 years ago). This meant only approved users could post, but there was nobody approving requests! 😭

There's a new subreddit mod. It's me. Hikikomori523 is technically above me, but he may not be so active here. Besides our on-site activity, we'll be notified by email any time you need us.

GIPHY media is now allowed in comments. It was off by default. Have fun.

Now theoretically supporting WVOC students. Across the street from LAPC is WVOC, an adult school part of LAUSD. I don't imagine much WVOC discussion happening, but if it needs a place, there's enough overlap that this subreddit is close enough.

Insights: While the subreddit was locked down, we received 15 requests from users seeking posting abilities, and maintained a small stream of curious visitors. Here's what a quiet 2023 looked like:

Feb '23 to Dec '23 insights for unique visitors to r/LAPierceCollege

User and post flairs, a better sidebar, wiki, AutoMod config, and other niche settings are a work in progress. I'm open to your feedback!

Have fun, and remember this subreddit is visible to the public. Be careful about sharing info and linking to group chats or video conferences.

This subreddit is unofficial and not affiliated with faculty nor ASO.

When do syllabi and books needed come out for Summer 2020?

I'm due to start classes on Monday June 15th and still haven't rec'd a syllabus or booklist for my classes. There's a link in my schedule taking me to the bookstore, but it gives me an error message saying "page not found"

Any clue what's going on? Has anyone been able to contact a professor to see what the plan is?

Stupid Question about waitlist

Hey guys, I enrolled in an accounting class, paid for it and everything. I'm just confused about when I click on the class, the status of it is waitlist. Is it my status in the class or is it just the status of the class in general? If I am waitlisted, how likely are you to get off the waitlist here? Thanks.

How are we feeling about online classes?

Hey guys, I hope everybody is doing well and staying safe during the COVID19 epidemic. I’m just wondering how you’re feeling about online learning?? I had a really hard time accepting it because I really value classroom time and interactions. The shift was tough but I think I’ve finally gotten the hang of it.

Impostor Phenomenon Among Latin American Students

Greetings!
I am a doctoral student in counseling psychology at the University of Miami. As part of my dissertation research, I am conducting a survey of impostor feelings and experiences among Hispanic or Latin American students. I would greatly appreciate if you could participate and/or forward this study to potential participants. Participation in the study is expected to take approximately 15 minutes.

Participants must self-identify as Hispanic, Latino/a/x, or having an ethnic background from Spanish or Portuguese speaking areas of Latin America. Participants must also be currently enrolled in a college or university program, read English proficiently, have spent their formative years in the US, and be over the age of 18.

To qualify for participation in the study, please click here: https://umiami.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_ewIGPAU0tzdAhtb

Participation is confidential and voluntary, meaning participants may withdraw from the study at any time. If you have any questions, you can contact me at n.rios1@umiami.edu.

The proposed study does not pose any anticipated risk and is approved by the University of Miami Institutional Review Board. The university’s Human Subjects Research Office can be contacted at hsro@miami.edu.

Thank you in advance for your time!

Would this be a good college for returning student? I am 35

I am looking to get a degree in electronics, has anyone taken their electronics course, how was it?
I am 35 years old now and I am not sure how I would fit in the culture of this college, are there any other older students that can tell me about their experience?

Dumb question

So I saw that the orientation module online was available for use, and being the dumb one I am, I redid it, ignoring the fact that I already completed it last year. Will this affect me at all, or am I just being paranoid?

Registering for classes at different community colleges

How can I add classes from LAMC if the only portal LACCD account I have to register classes for is for pierce. When I go to the LAMC website and click on register for classes it redirects me to the Pierce LACCD. I was told that I only need to register to one college in the LACCD district and from that I can register to other LACCD colleges listed.

When can i sell my textbooks back to Pierce?

I currently have a Fourteenth edition Interplay by Adler/Rosenfeld/Proctor II (Communications 121) and 4th California Edition Physical Geography by Darren Hess (Geology 001). If anyone wants to buy, or knows when the school buys them back, let me know please.
