Neighbors says building managers don’t care about it Is there anything I can do?
Hey there - I've lived in Jersey City for the past 10 years and now considering moving to Nyack or one of the neighboring towns. Curious to hear about people's experiences. We're a couple in our mid-thirties - no kids yet. We're looking for a bit more space, we love being outside in nature but at the same time appreciate being able to walk places and we want to be within commuting distance of NYC.
We'd love to find a place where we can build a community. We spend weekends gardening, getting outside with our dog, exploring the local arts scene.
Any suggestions for or against specific towns/regions greatly appreciated!
I have a lot of clothing I’d like to donate, but I’m looking for places that will pass it on directly to those in need rather than reselling it. If anyone knows of churches, shelters, or organizations that accept clothing donations for free distribution, I’d appreciate your recommendations. Most of the items are jeans, dresses, and everyday wear ranging from woman’s small to medium. Thank you!
Did the Nickelodeon Store at the Palisades Center ever sell Xmas decor?? Like ornaments, etc. And were there any Rocko Xmas decor??
Hi Rockland community,
My husband and I are looking to move our family to Rockland County: it seems to be a great place to live, with nice towns and reasonable commuting distance to NYC. We especially like Pearl River and will be touring some houses there this week.
Our only concern is what we’ve read about an increasing Hasidic population in this area of NY. We would hate for what happened in Ramapo to happen in our new town: the defunding of the public schools, disregard of zoning laws, and complete takeover of the town.
To be clear, we’re Jewish and this has nothing to do with anti-semitism. We’re just normal people who want to send our kids to well funded public schools and live next to neighbors of any race who will accept us as part of the community.
So, as Rockland residents, is this something that should dissuade us from buying in the county? We would be especially interested in hearing from Pearl River residents who have a sense of whether this should be a concern.
Thank you so much!
The neighbor’s next to and behind us keep hiring people that blow leaves directly into our yard despite there being a forest right next to both of us. Instead of blowing it down the hill they blow it into the stream that the local animals drink out of and all over our yard. How does one handle a repetitive situation like this?
Can anyone recommend a Japanese restaurant that still has a tatami room (small private room). I haven’t seen them in a while. Can be Rockland or a little further. Thanks!
A pedestrian found a body in Children’s Park in Chestnut Ridge this morning. Anyone have any info on this?
I'm looking for a guitar strap. I don't want to buy online. Anywhere in the county i can go to browse?

Good morning. I got into an ocodent with the police regarding a criminal case and I will like to ask for a good criminal lawyer in the area. Of course I will like something in the cheaper side. But I understand that a good layer's costs. So any recommendations are good.
Like a restaurant or bakery that makes it fresh. I don't want grocery store pita.
There’s a sign for something called sutter castle near lake rd and saddle river road. But we can’t find it to save our lives. Does anyone know where it is?
I drive by everyday for work, what are they building there off 87, in suffern or Airmont I guess. It’s massive whatever it is.
I am looking into moving to Nyack (Main St.). What is the best way to commute from Nyack to Manhattan?
This is a genuine question of mine.
On June 25th, 2024, Thomas F. Sullivan won the Conservative party nomination for the 97th Assembly District with little to no campaign effort no website, no mailers, no signs. He appeared out of nowhere, and it quickly became clear that his candidacy was engineered to siphon votes away from Republican John McGowan and help Democrat Aron Wieder win the seat.
The story gets even more dirty when you look at the involvement of Yisroel Eisenbach, a former deputy mayor and current member of the Rockland County Sewer Board (appointed by Wieder). Eisenbach helped get Sullivan on the ballot, raising serious questions about whether this was all part of a strategy to divide the vote and ensure Wieder's victory.
Despite these troubling revelations, no local media outlets, including RocklandNews, have followed up on the story or sought further investigation. Why has this been ignored? How can such a blatant manipulation of the election process go unchallenged?
I dont mean to call out RocklandNews, but since they told the OP they will get to it , or perhaps they are also aware and just pretending otherwise....but I wont throw such an accusation, im just bothered by how everyone has just remained quiet about this... I have yet read anything from even the lohud about this insane revelation.

I know Rockland has a little bit of everything in terms of where people are in their political beliefs. Our county is very diverse and made up of all different types of races, ethnicities and religions etc. Due to recent election results I am highly concerned for immigrants in the area. I personally know a lot of people that are undocumented and have been working with a broken system for years to try and get their lawful residency in order. They have been paying taxes. They respect the law. Some have children here. I don’t know much about politics and im trying to learn how things work by paying attention to election, watching the news etc but due to recent events its pretty obvious immigrants in this country are going to be targeted by the Trump administration. My question is, what is Rockland doing to help protect its community of immigrants ? How can we speak up to help? And another group I am concerned about are our LGBTQ residents. This post is scattered but I guess I’m just asking is there any group or organization in the area that is pro immigration/LGBTQ/non hateful etc?
The Blarney Stone or whatever it was called last is now Sam's!
They just opened, located in the ShopRite shopping center. I'm looking forward to trying it.
Irish guys bought the old Kelly’s and remodeled it and it’s actually nicer, cleaner and friendlier. owner is really nice. I hope people give it a try and support local businesses. They are still working in a couple of things but it’s coming along. Kelly’s public house. Previous owner was a right wing crazy lady with newsmax on every single tv and unfriendly unwelcoming people
I got a pair of boots that needs it's sole replaced. Anyone know a cobbler that does good work for a good price?
Preferably in the New City/Nyack/Nanuet area, but I'm willing to travel more if it's worth it.
