We heard a huge bang around 10:00 last night and discovered that our front patio roof approximately 25 feet by 12, had completely collapsed from the weight of snow. It looked like it was in really good shape before, so I was a bit surprised. It looks like a complete loss, 4x4's, roofing panels, and entire frame. Hope that's something insurance will cover. It's kind of funny, because I've only lived here a couple of years and was complaining that we never got enough snow to really notice. Well, it showed me. Anyone else have any damage?
Hi everyone.
I am newer to Pueblo and want to get involved politically (outside of the two main parties) or even just doing mutual aid and other direct action.
I don’t get the sense there are tons of folks like me down here, but I figured I would come here and ask.
If you know of any groups or orgs, please let me know. If you personally feel similar and have a small group that you meet with or are friends with, I’d love to grab a coffee or beer and chat and meet some similar people (feel free to DM if you prefer).
Any help would be appreciated!
About late 2000s, maybe early 2010s I came across a delicious cake that was a fruit based-cake and it was sold out of a bakery(? Maybe a restaurant) right next to (on the property of) the Children’s Buell Museum. I think it was a play on a fruity type of tiramisu cake with lady fingers but with fruit and not espresso. Holidays are coming and I would like to know if I can still access this delicious confection….
Does anyone know what is being built next to Culver's on the southside? It looks like a pretty good sized parcel of land. Thanks!!
Will be up in Cañon Colorado between november 7-10, would it be a good idea to take my mountain bike and hit up some beginner trails?
What a weekend. Grassroots Gravel is a race for everyone. Family-owned and Pueblo-based. This is home.
Give me your favorite brunch date spots. Could be in a neighboring town like Florence or Colorado City, too.
Ballot Questions 2a-2d
It's been easily 15 years since I was in Pueblo. Ill be staying over between University and ridge for a few days and My son wanted to go out trick or treating. Where would be the best location for a good door to door Colorado trick-or-treating? I was told University area where we were staying was fine but more opinions doesn't hurt.
And hearing a hell of a lot of sirens over by the steel mill. Anyone know what's up?
Tryna turn up
It’s going to be great fun! Can’t wait to smoke one with you friends!
Who knows the story behind Cortner Rd out in the county? I remember going there as a teenager because everyone said it was haunted but never knew the actual story behind it.
Looking for a Spanish teacher in the Pueblo area any recommendations?
Anyone know where you can dispose of an old projection big screen TV in pueblo or pueblo county?
Anyone know of any techs in the area or is a tech taking new clients? Thank you!
Couldn’t get around to Pueblo until this next weekend…am I too late to get a couple bushels? Where should I head?
Thank you.
Pueblo has a huge opportunity right now to transform into a major player in the tech and energy sectors. With the decommissioning of the Pueblo Chemical Depot, there’s a highly skilled workforce available, many of whom could easily obtain Q clearance. This clearance is a huge asset for attracting industries like defense contracting, nuclear energy, and data centers that require secure operations and tight regulations.
There’s also prime land near Pueblo Memorial Airport, perfect for developing large-scale facilities like data centers, which are crucial for industries like AI, cloud computing, and big data. The location has easy access to highways, rail lines, and air transport, making it an ideal spot for companies that need smooth logistical infrastructure.
Investing in nuclear energy, especially Rolls-Royce Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), could be a game changer. While the upfront costs are high, the long-term return on investment could be massive. It would also reduce reliance on Black Hills Energy and lead to energy independence. Solar power is still crucial and should definitely stay part of the energy mix, but it can’t consistently meet the high energy demands of data centers alone. Nuclear would provide the reliable, round-the-clock power needed, while solar can supplement and help cut down carbon emissions.
On top of that, Pueblo is home to top-tier educational institutions like CSU Pueblo and Pueblo Community College, both of which are certified by the NSA and DHS as Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense. These schools are producing graduates with the skills needed in cybersecurity, IT, and business, which makes the region even more attractive to companies looking for talent in those fields.
The combination of skilled workers, nuclear energy potential, available land, and cybersecurity expertise positions Pueblo to become a leader in high-tech industries and energy. This kind of investment could boost the local economy, create tons of high-paying jobs, and position Pueblo for long-term success.
Hey everyone!
I’m currently working on a project to build a small trailer, and I’m in need of some steel. Does anyone know where I can find affordable steel in Pueblo, CO? I’d appreciate any recommendations for local suppliers or places where I can get good deals.
Thanks in advance!
While trunk or treating can be fun…it is beyond depressing that my daughter has never experienced good old fashioned trick or treating. Are there any recommendations for Pueblo or P-West neighborhoods to visit on the 31st?
As the title states. I'm just curious if this is on anyone else's radar? I know there is an abortion issue on the ballot to make it protected by the state constitution. But that's all I know.
I got an unauthorized transaction on my debit card from "Amazon France" and luckily the idiots put the expiration date in wrong and gave me time to turn it off before the next transaction. I NEVER shop on Amazon and only shop in person. There is a card skimmer(s) somewhere in the Belmont area so please be vigilant! Only use tap to pay and ensure that there is no fake swiper on top of any POS you use if you have to use your card. Just an PSA for everyone out there!! Beware the ATMS and gas stations!
Swept the camps and then going to close the shelter? If you make it unhospitable enough then people will go to Colorado Springs or Denver? Or maybe come up to Boulder?
For those to vulnerable to travel and families they can use some special limited resource but seems the rest are just out on a limb.
