I'm a member of the Black Hearts Union and due to various reasons beyond our control, our numbers have dwindled to the point we only have one or two of us making the matches this season. This is a real shame as I believe that there's lots of people in the Portland area who would love to support grassroots soccer if they only knew about it. I've been trying to promote the matches on the BHU FB page and discord and I'm glad I found this subreddit now!
Our next game is this Saturday (May 4th) away at Forest Grove FC (also known as Santos FC for some reason) at 3 pm. The game will be played at Pacific University. This is the only weekend day game on the men's schedule this spring schedule. So, I'm hoping we get a good turnout for this match and in lieu of tailgating like we used to, I'm hoping we can meet at the Cornerstone Pub and Grill a few blocks away from the ground. This bar as an extensive tap list and a good menu: https://www.cornerstonepubandgrill.com/index.html.
We already have the infrastructure with flags, rail banners, drums scarves, chants and smoke. We just need people to show up and support. Hope to see you there - Matthew.
