Two owls living in palm trees in CA

A few days ago, we noticed two owls seemed to be living in the palm trees in our backyard (more specifically in the highest branches that are nearly twenty feet from the ground). This does make sense since we have been finding a bunch of dead bird corpses around the yard. Mind you, we are nowhere near any forest.

Does anyone know what type of owls these are and if owls supposed to be living in palm trees? Do you think I should call Wildlife Conservation to move them to a forest?

Watching an owl feed with thermal

For context, yes it's a scope, no I wasn't going to shoot the owl, I was hunting coyotes/hogs.

Owl hunting patterns question

So well after sunset tonight I heard a chittering noise in my attic. I at first thought it might be bats but then in the middle of the night I awoke to an owl hooting. There is a tree on the side of the house and it is common for an owl to hang out this time of year. So my question is would an owl hoot outside of an attic with a bat nest? Or could it be owlettes I heard in the attic and the hoots are to mark territory?

Question

If I were to theoretically to breed several pairs of tamed owls in captivity and continued doing that for many generations of owls would I have successfully "domesticated" them? P.S. Due to conservation laws in my area I'm not allowed to keep owls since they are protected animals

Owl flew into side of car and rehab places are closed—Advice needed

Sorry for any mistakes, I am typing this very quickly on the side of the road. I was driving around 20 mph in my neighborhood when an owl flew and hit the passenger’s side window. I turned around and the owl was sitting in the road squinting its eyes and making a quiet “hoo” sound (more like a pigeon, if that makes sense). I attempted to approach it with a towel, but once I had it about 3-4 feet off the ground, it flew and landed on a nearby fence. All rehab centers around me are closed right now (live near Seattle, WA) and I am just wondering if there’s anything I should do or if the owl will be okay. There wasn’t any blood or anything, just a couple small down feathers on the road.

Thanks for any and all advice!

On a scale of 1-10, how crazy does it smell in there?

I watch this owl box every year and I always wonder how stinky it gets in there. It has a bunch of dead animals and the owlets are pooping in the box. Can owls even smell?

Thank you for your time.

Update to Lonely Barred Owl in Urban Park

Hi all,

I posted here about a week ago asking if there was a way to help this lonely barred owl find a mate. It was hooting all night for quite some time and was starting to make the single, despondent sounding hoots in the early morning hours from failure.

Per one redditor's advice, I actually decided to give the guy some time before reaching out anywhere.

Well last night it seems like a lady owl came to visit! They were having a little owl duet for over four hours, and our male protagonist surprised us with happy sounding hoots as 'late' as 9:30AM this morning. Maybe it was a long date night!

Thanks again for the kind suggestions and comments in my earlier post!

Will my owl come back?

Hello everyone, I have a screech owl box, recently I had a little eastern screech owl in there for one day and I have yet to see him again. What are the odds of him coming back? We saw him fly away approximately a week ago or more but haven’t seen him since then. Did he leave forever ? Anything I can do to help attract more ?
