What is a question about the meta-subreddits of Reddit you've always wanted to ask but was afraid to?

About:

Have you ever seen a whole bunch of reddit posts or anything else about some topic referring to the "metasphere" of Reddit and you had no idea what everyone was going on about? Did you feel out of the loop? This subreddit is dedicated to helping you get up to speed with the recent trends and news of the meta-subs on Reddit.

Note:This sub is made by meta-redditors for meta-redditors, but if you're not familiar with that sub-section of Reddit, you're still very much welcome.

Rules

  • Post your request in the form of a question. You want to know what /r/SubredditDrama is? Don't just make the title of the post "SRD", write an actual question and put it in the title.

  • All answers go in the comments of the post. Comments that don't add anything to the discussion will be removed at the moderators' discretion.

  • Search before you post. All reposts will be removed.

  • No questions about anything outside the meta-subs of Reddit.

  • Don't downvote opinions. Downvoting posts in this subreddit is unnecessary unless it violates any of the rules listed above, please don't downvote something just because you disagree with it.

  • No comments just as links. Don't just post a link to a story or something relevant. Make a comment that explains the whole thing and then you may use links to help explain or give reference to your comment. Comments that are just links without explanations will be removed.

  • Be polite. Correct inaccuracies and contribute to the conversation. Comments attacking an answer rather than correcting will be removed.

  • Don't ask questions with a biased tone. We don't want a single thread being a one-sided circlejerk. Make polite discussion. For voting, please upvote the most complete response which shows as little bias is possible.

  • No meta posts. All posts regarding the state of this subreddit, or suggestions for this subreddit will be removed. The reason for this is because they just clutter up the front page. If you have any suggestions, comments, complaints, or anything else, feel free to send the moderators of this subreddit a message.

  • Feel free to discuss. If you feel someone's explanation is incomplete or biased, we encourage you to respond to that person with additional information or your point of view. Please do not downvote because you disagree, and typically the downvotes you do give should require no explanation (trolls, speculation, rule-breaking).

  • Multiple failures to comply with these rules will result in a ban.

On InsanePeopleQuora it seems that lately everybody has been commenting the word "gif" in isolation. Anyone know what's going on?

How do I add red [nsfw] warning to posts?

I’m somewhat new to posting on reddit and I’m curious how to approach nsfw topics in subreddits without getting in trouble from mods

What's the deal with this whole "Project Veritas" thing?

I've been hearing all yesterday and today from various anti censorship subs about something happening with Google or pinterest where apparently someone who's high up there said something about messing with the election or something? And now all these websites are like, purging info? Is that all it is or is there something more going on? Apparently there's a video of some kind? What exactly is project Veritas?

What is r/AdviceAnimals?

It's obviously not animals giving advice, cause half the memes have people or characters, and the posts also aren't advice.

The subreddits summary of "reddit's goldmine" is wholely unhelpful.

Some kind soul please explain.

Why is there an opium crisis?

I was watching Seinfeld S7E15 and they talked about how opium was bad and a drug that you can get addicted to. This was aired back in 1996. If they knew about this then, why is it such a big deal now?

Who is and why is Jon Tron so popular?

His subreddit r/JonTron has over 130,000 followers and I don’t get the reason why he is so popular on this platform. I’ve seen his memes but that’s it. Could someone please explain this to me.

What's the deal with /r/news not allowing the top news stories of the day to be posted?

There are currently no threads on /r/news regarding the release of the Mueller report today, which is odd considering that it is the top news story of the day. Their rules say that political posts aren't allowed, but this isn't primarily a political document, it is a law enforcement document with political implications. And right now their top post is about Facebook removing political pages and groups, so saying that it is too political to go on the subreddit seems like a rather inconsistent application of their rules...At the very least, the Facebook story is a World Wide Web story with political implications, just as the Mueller report is a law enforcement story with political implications.

What happened to /r/HighQualityGifs?

So, this question was removed from /r/outoftheloop and I was directed to ask this question here instead.

Hqg has been locked down into a private community suddenly and with no explanation. As a sub that very often reached the front page this seems a bit odd. Anyone care to fill us all in on what happened?

How is Reddit filtered?

I know that you can sort of "filter yourself" by subscribing to specific subreddits, but how are user posts filtered for inappropriate content? Is it just by mods or

Also, when does the government get involved? I've been learning about this in class, and I'm genuinely curious!
