Hi guys, so I recently decided to go natural in an effort to try and grow my 4C hair. I wanted to try twist outs, however the few that I did were so loose. Any tips on how to make them better would be appreciated.🙂
This happened to my child not naturally — from an incident. I need advice… what should I do?
She had/has the most beautiful hair - I’m really upset
How do i get my hair in a curly afro that goes over my forehead like the second picture, i know i need to grow it out but what products do i use so it can get more curly and make it drop, also do i need to get an undercut like a high taper bc i already have one and i want to just grow out all of my hair
So I’ve been in the market for a super cleansing shampoo. I’ve been using dawn only bc I couldn’t find any…until I found THIS one-the Suave daily clarifying shampoo. I was skeptical but after the second wash, I knew it was the TRUTH. I have 4b/4c hair and I use grease every wash day (usually once a week but occasionally every two weeks) so I need to thoroughly cleanse my hair every now and then so get rid of the grease. This suave REALLY does just that. My hair felt squeaky…super squeaky. But I wasn’t mad at it since I plopped some conditioner in my hair and went on with my day. I’m here to tell y’all: buy it. You wont regret it. Just make sure you have a good moisturizing shampoo
Hi,
I’m kind of in a confusing hair stage and I’d love if I could just personally DM some of you for your opinions, please?
After years of wearing my curly hair out(4a), and having to style it every 2-3 days cause the do just would not last! I decided to give twists a try. So far, I can make em last 10 days.
I’m hoping to finally grow my hair past my collarbone/shoulders (now the constant pulling, and manipulating has been dealt with lol)cause it’s been that length for years. Is it wishful thinking on my part? Should I just assume my hair isnt mean to grow past that length?
I need to here from the ladies whose hair wouldnt get past x length, starter braiding/twisting etc and reached desired length. I need some hope, something to look forward to lol
God I’m just tired, I just spent hours in my bathroom trying to handle my hair and I’m kinda disappointed.
I’m 21 and for pretty much my entire life I consistently braided my hair enough for me not to know what my hair looked like besides when I would wash them between hairstyle. A few weeks ago I decided I would learn how to appreciate them undone and define my curls. So I started to search what my hair type was, what products would be good for them etc.
Fast forward to today, because I have Seborrheic dermatitis I thoroughly washed them with clarifying shampoo and ciclopirox. I deep conditioned them and I moved to the wash and go section by section with the finger coiling technique . I put the miel hydrat from Camille Rose, the African Pride gel and the ouidad one
My hair was wet wet at each section. I have to mention that even if they are wet they don’t clump but just frizz and you can literally see them get puffy nearly instantly. While drenched in the shower and constantly pouring water they do clump a bit but there are still frizzy 😭
Is my hair just like that or there's a way for the curls to clump ? I’m begging for some advice, and products recommendations. I‘m French so I may nit be able to test everything
Hello! I need a bit of help. I want to change my hairstyle (had boho braids for a almost two months and they need to come out lol). I have started working out consistently and want to be able to keep that up without worrying about my hair. I also want to look nice/do something different because Valentines Day is coming up. However, my edges and hairline have been kind of ruined by constant braids and wigs. But I don't feel comfortably wearing my natural hair out. Any advice on what to do next would be much appreciated
First of all sorry for my oversight regarding the last post! Obviously I don't want anything photos of my baby being susceptible to creepers, I honestly didn't think anything of just her back and I think i put tok much faith/trust in this sub being safe and people solely being hair for hair talk. I deleted it so it should be gone. Thanks for everyone who had any concern 🩷
I didn't copy the original text I just deleted it the second i saw the first comment but the original question basically was, how often are you actually shampooing your toddlers hair (2 going on 3) ?
Originally I thought she would shampoo and conditioner the same schedule as me, which is about once a week, but honestly I rarely shampoo her hair. The last time I can remember is around the holidays, November? I'm wondering now, as she's getting older, will lack of shampoo lead to scalp issues? I read it could cause oil buildup up that leads to dandruff but I'm not sure if that's relevant for our hair texture, curly/natural hair. Most times her hair is in braids or styled up for a week or so at a time, only using light leave in and water to refresh.
The issue is, she hates shampoo. Regular, kids, baby. All of it. The water isn't an issue, it's the products, and I'm stuck between letting it be and continuing on with minimum washes or what. After I shampoo I deep condition as well, which also is a problem for her, though it's moreso residual upset from the shampoo process.
Also has anyone had any experience with that sink counter thing for kids that holds the phone? I saw it on Amazon but $100 is a lot and I don't know.
What tips or tricks are you using to get your toddlers to wash their hair or are you just not shampooing until older?
I'm looking for prepoo for my baby cousin who has really bad eczema on his scalp. I was thinking coconut oil, but I've never used anything but carols daughter prepoo so I'm not sure how coconut oil would be. Have u used coconut oil and has it worked as prepoo? He has 4C low porosity hair. Thanks!
Hi!
I had bad seborrheic dermatitis for the past 5 years.
I’ve been using Nizoral for a year now, but it stopped working a few months ago. I kept trying to make it work, but now I’ve realized that I’ve developed resistance to the formula.
I want to add new shampoos to my routine, so I need to make a list of what to buy so I can start rotating them.
I’ve read about Sensun, H&S, Dercos, etc., but I’m not sure which ones from these brands to buy.
Could you help me make a routine? 🙏🏻
so i stopped using oils a while ago because i felt like it was keeping my scalp dry by repelling moisture. and ever since, my hair has thrived and feels so much better! my dandruff has also cleared up. but i see a lot of posts explaining how we can use lightweight oils after a leave in conditioner on wash day to seal the moisture for the week. i'm curious how this would work with a wash and go that includes gel?? i'm assuming it would go right after the gel (duh) but i've never seen anyone mention it before. has anyone tried this? would the results be good?
Trying to resist cutting down the sides. I know I have to cut the long parts to match more but I love seeing the longest undamaged coils... It's like I'm missing rows of hair. I'm so tired of traction alopecia from sleeping.
So I’ve been natural for 7+ years and I just now have started to actually try to grow my hair. Over the past year I’ve been wearing wigs and it has helped grow my hair tremendously from my neck to a little Above bra strap length. I’m currently taking a break from wearing wigs for a month to let my hair be free. I’m super happy about it, but I have thee worst habit of constantly touching my hair because I just love it so much (which is also another reason why I started wearing wigs to keep from playing with my hair so much and actually let it grow ) but I hear it’s bad to constantly touch it so how do I stop myself from constantly touching my hair? I don’t even mean to do it. I just randomly touch it and then I get mad at myself. Lmao
My hair will be throughly detangled yet knots will appear at the ends in just hours. Knots also fall off when I run water over my hair when washing. I know having tight curls leads to higher chances of knots and such, but does anyone have any advice on how to combat these?
Hey community,
Canadian curly girl here.
With the unfortunate tariff situation kicking into gear, I'm preparing to divest from American products. In the past, I have used Camille Rose (Moroccan Pear, Almond Jai) and Kinky Curly (Come Clean shampoo) products. I — thankfully — DIY the rest.
What are some comparable Canadian — or non-American — brands and products that have worked for you?
Perhaps we could make a list of conditioners, deep conditioners, styling creams / gels, shampoos, etc. that have worked for us.
This would be so helpful. Thank you.
