I think it’s 4A but I’m not sure
I've been a straight natural for two years now and I've hardly seen any progress. A handful of my coils are slightly looser towards the end, but the vast majority are unchanged and my hair still reverts easily. I have 4b hair with fine strands and low density. I press it once a week, first on 200°C (392°F) then on 230°C (446°F), and I get professional trims.
Am I doing something wrong? Other black women's coils loosen in no time. I've even seen women get heat damage after one silk press. So, why aren't my coils loosening?
White mother of biracial daughter with type 3B hair. She is only 2 and seems to be tender headed. For the last 6 months she will not let me detangle all of her hair. She'll let me do the top, but when I try the back she screams and cries and pulls away from me. I don't the heart to continue after that.
What can I do to make it easier on her?
How can I protect my almost hip length locs during sex? I’m looking for something cute. I have scarves and long bonnets but I want a cute option. I’ve considered wrapping my hair like I do when I go out sometimes but I think it would slide off. Help!
This is my first time ever getting braids after usually getting two strand twists.? Got it down today, It feels tight right now to me and when I make expression I can feel my scalp being pulled but people said give it 2-3 to loosen to see if it really is too tight and then take it down. Do they look tight to y’all? And i also wanted to know if y’all think it looks good or not. Thanks!
So I know there’s lots of discourse about how long we should be wearing braids and how long in between protective styling we should wear our own hair.
However wearing my hair continuously in this protective styling has helped my hair so much.
I’ll start with the part that I can braid my own hair which helps in the process of it all but this is what I do.
I clean my hair and deep condition it prior to having it braided. I go to a salon because I’m lazy. I sit for about 3 hours get a head full of braid and head out on my way.
I can keep and maintain this style for 3 to 4 months depending on how I’m feeling. I spray leave in Black Vanilla conditioning spray ( if you know the brand flavor you know who the brand is ) I use a mix of oils I concoct on my scalp and massage it in 3 times a week.
( avocado oil, Jamaican black castor, jojoba, 4 drops of tea tree oil and olive or coconut oil)
Then wear it as I go.. I toothbrush wash it twice a month and co wash it once every 7-8 days or so so 4 times a month .. and then the part I think that saves my hair the most.
Sporadically I will take out sections detanlge and comb out shed hair, trim ends and then rebraid it back up. Keeping my parts looking crisp and my braids looking fresh and neat.
It also alleviates any tension on my new growth and I do that every couple days until I’ve rebraided my whole head ..
Then after about 3 months or so ..I take them all out and wash rinse and head out to the salon to get new braids again.
It saves me a ton of money but also .. my hair ( which is unprocessed and natural) is soft has been growing so well.
Idk if it’s a just a me thing or has anyone else experienced this too with keeping your hair in protective styling for a long period of time.
What do you do? Any tips or tricks?
Am i cooked?
When i do get semi free forms how do I maintain it.
Okay so I’m kinda panicking right now 😭 I was on a booking app and found someone who could do this, she said it was crochet and I just needed Jamaican Bounce curls.
The thing is I literally cannot find any long pieces of Jamaican Bounce. I can only find super short or mid neck crochet curls, and I want something between 10 inches and maybe 14? Like the picture above.
I asked if this could be achieved with a sew in and flexi/permrods first but was told it can just be achieved with normal crochet. I need advice or guidance what I should do 😵💫😵💫😵💫
Will a cotton durag help my braids/cornrows or is does it absorbs too much moisture?
Does anybody recommed great products for 4c hair like shammpoo, leave in conditioner and just regular condition?
please someone help this has been ongoing for over a year 🥲 i combed out each section every braid i took out and it was fine and then i washed it and it matted up
I'm tired of trying to find a hair stylist in the area for normal box braids (or even crochet) at an affordable price. I'm looking to cut my hair and get like a fantasia barrino(Taylor) hairstyle. Any recommendations on how to explain that style to someone ( I do have a picture too). I genuinely can't tell if it's just a cut or a lace front but still.
