Welcome to Monster Hunter Meta! This is a place to discuss in-depth strategy for the Monster Hunter franchise, including but not limited to weapon strategy, gear builds, farming and much more.
MHM's founding purpose is to make it easy for people to discuss and find information involving the meta of any Monster Hunter game in a spirit of mutual help.
Its purpose is however not to have discussions about whether "meta" is good or bad per se. If you dislike minmaxing or optimization as such, you're strongly encouraged to go look elsewhere.
Discussions about "off-meta" strategies are still welcome as long as they're still within the topic of optimization/minmaxing and they're explicitly stated as such. Please do not discourage or harass users who try to think or suggest "alternative" effective strategies: meta should be offered, never enforced.

So I haven't been blessed with kjarrs yet but I'm wondering if I run transcendence with Safi claws do they loose to fatty DB even on monster that have good weak element hit zones?
Also with transcendence I would be basically be replacing tce with agitator does this make up for it?
Hey guys, was looking towards building the paralysis lance build. The "Mycetic Stupor" as it‘s described in the album only gets blue sharpness, it says "30 hits of purple" though?
Is this a known error and the correct weapon would be from the Hornetaur tree, 1 spot above the Chaos tree? Or am I missing something with heaven sent giving purple sharpness lol
Couldn‘t find anything about this topic so I thought I‘d ask here.
After 200ish hours over the years, I finally made it here. Looking any tips going forward, Hammer Main
I love how deep the combat is in this series. I have noticed my abilities evolve game by game, and this wirebug technique has shaved minutes off of each hunt while keeping me much safer.
It has a massively generous iFrame window. You can use it to dodge nearly any attack if there isn't a lingering hit box. It feels more forgiving than Souls games.
You can also use it to quickly reposition yourself and it maintains your charge level for big bonks.
I wasn't using this at all, and since "discovering" it a couple days ago I've been having more fun in Sunbreak than I've ever had before. I would suggest a few easier hunts to practice, and you'll quickly realize just how busted this move is.
I already felt mobile as hell with hammer - it's the entire reason I love the weapon so much, and this wirebug move makes you feel nearly unstoppable! Unga bunga!!!
Mostly Asking it because of the Kinsect Level, but is there any major reason why this is the case? Especially with the extra element being made up for by the silkbind bonus.
Ok, I'm post-fatalis in MH world with lance and have looked at the mega thread regarding ideal builds.
I just have a question on priority for a couple things.
I think it's obvious you want WEX, crit eye, crit boost and at least AB 4 for the extra crit and as much agitator as you can fit, ideally 7.
My question is where does offensive guard and peak performance fall in this priority list?
Offensive guard seems very strong if you can have high uptime. Peak performance also seems pretty good for how many gem slots it takes if you can fit it.
But if I can't fit all of this just yet due to less than ideal gems, what's my priority look with all the previous skills?
Is offensive guard so good it should be my my first priority?
Should I use the element/status up for my elemental chargeblades ?
Coming back to Sunbreak after putting it down for a while.
All of the meta builds have the swap-health-for-damage gimmick but I'm happy just spending an extra few minutes to take down whatever.
Any of your best comfortable strength hammer builds would be appreciated.
e: courage too, why not
been running elemental phial charge blade for awhile only to recently find out artillery has no effect on ep cb saed/aed and only effects impact phials and i feel like everything i knew was a lie
I just defeated Gasmaigorm and wanted a build with a lot of damage for GS and Bow
can't decide between Kjarr or Alatreon
Hey, im trying to get a controller for Monster Hunter on PC. Any recommendations?
So I just started using the hunting horn pretty late into HR (I’m nearly at xenojiva) and I don’t know what Armor to make or what hunting horn to build because as soon as I hit MR all my gear is gonna be underpowered. Does anyone have any tips for what build I should make going into iceborne and then what build should I do when I hit MR? Thanks! (p.s this is my first play through of MHW)

Sharing some useful tips to help with swaxe energy management & timing offset attacks for future armor buffs (like doshaguma set bonus)
I personally really like Jump Reload and Forward Sword Morph Slash-> Spiral Slash as a reliable way to regain energy if theres no opening for triple axe combo to get that spiral slash
For offset Unbridled slash is a great tool as a short dps burst at the end of sword combos and use the morph-back-to-axe state as a offset timing tool to get consistent offsets. This will still require you to learn the monster's moveset in order to pull it off reliably though. Back morph into offset is another great tool if Unbridled takes too long to setup. These two moves has helped me link the axe offset attack into my regular sword combos nicely. I really like how Unbridled is designed after thinking of it as a way to link into axe offset atk.
The stuff in the video is not to teach you how to definitively play SwitchAxe in Wilds, but to show off some tools that you can add to your toolbelt for MHWilds switch axe. I hope you enjoy it
What I understand is that elemental damage is calculated as Raw Dmg ÷ Elm Stat × Sharpness × Hit zone (Or that's what I think), but I still have a doubt now that I was able to kill Safi'jiiva and unlock his weapons.
So, overall which are better? Raw Damage or Elemental Damage upgrades? What I mean is if I take a level V Elemental upgrade, it's going to be better than one of the same level but Raw Damage?
i need a good build for endgame chargeblade (sunbreak)
By good gears I mean. For example let's say in the earlier stages is it worth farming the Barroth Gears? And then midway move on to the Rathalos Gears and then focus on farming X monster in endgame?
Am I making sense or am I talking out of my ass?
Also, is there like, a certain gameplay loop with this game?
Like I remember in the PSP era, I had a fixed routine before and after every mission such as restocking on certain items, tending to the farm, buffing with food. And then right before I fight a monster I juice myself with like several different drugs etc etc. Are there any good guides fr that?
Are there any good shield HBG builds that function similar to how the playstyle was in iceborne? I kinda just want something i can use for anomaly grinding that’ll allow me to turn my brain off
3-1-0 Dereliction 1 Resentment 3
This one might work with blood rite+awakening
3-1-1 Defiance 3 Dereliction 1
I want to have at least 1 defensive skill
2-2-0 Burst 2 Dereliction 1
I plan on rerolling Burst for qurio skills
I also want to swap weapons (LS/Glaive) so if you have a good weapon idea let me know
Thanks.
so as the title syas im fighting fatalis. im ar MR 49 and have yet to do the limit break quest as i didnt see it to be necessary. but now im wondering, should i grind guiding lands for augments, or is the fight fine without it?
Hi everyone! I'm a PS5 player looking for some friendly hunters to team up with in Monster Hunter World. My PlayStation ID is Dovhakiin90 (written exactly like that, with a capital "D," and my profile picture is Kratos' stylized face on a red background).
I've always played solo and relied on SOS flares, but I'd really like to experience the full multiplayer side of the game. I also have a headset and mic, so we can coordinate and chat during hunts.
One of my biggest goals is to take on a Safi’jiiva Siege. To be honest, tackling it solo feels impossible for me, and I’d love to share the challenge (and rewards!) with others. Additionally, I’m working to improve my gear to face Alatreon and, someday, take on Fatalis, which I’ve never defeated. Right now, I’m stuck at the Raging Brachydios, so any help getting past this hurdle would mean the world to me.
If anyone is interested, please feel free to message me on PlayStation or reply to this post here on Reddit.
Thank you so much, fellow hunters! I wish you all successful hunts and amazing rewards. 😊
Genuinely stumped here, I’m new to end game builds and don’t have a ton of great decos yet so all my builds are scrapped together.
What I don’t understand is why The aquashot with 60 less raw is doing 2 more damage than the furious Rajang HBG??
The only difference is lbg set has agitator 7 & rajang has agitator 6
I understand velkhana is a better option, but what awakenings/augments would be ideal in this fight for the Safi Frost Lance?
I took a break for a few months and just came back to MHRise to complete what was left before MHWilds. I really feel like I've hit a brick wall. Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax is quick, hits like a rocket fuelled 100T meteor.
My builds are all maxed out with what I can get without killing him (meta elemental SAED builds). Should I go raw against him? Did anyone make a build just for killing that awesome crimson menace?
Any help would be appreciated, first time in rise that I struggle like that and I sure would like to finish this game properly before moving to Wilds...
Guys, i'm trying to search the M bone on MHW, i made a lot of mission but nothing, someone could tell me where i can find the medium bones?
What is a good Raw IG build after story but before TU.I know raw isn't best but I farmed all elemental SA and just want another weapon to play alongside SA or I will get bored. Also which switch skills should I use for raw build.
I'm MR 40.
I have not gotten shattersplitter for the past weeekend of safi grinds and I want to give up and just run venomsplitter instead.
For a non-speed runner, how much DPS would I lose committing to venomsplitter instead of shattersplitter? I am planning on using it in a frostcraft build with GammaVelk/Fatty.
Sharing my poison LS build for critique. This is primarily used with Sakura Slash/Sacred Sheathe but occasionally used with Special Sheathe/Helm Breaker. Heaven-sent 3, Maximum Might 3, Foray 3, WEX 3 let me reach 100% affinity on weak points, and there's no sharpness loss while HS is active unlike with Master's Touch. I'm not sure if should drop MoH for more Buildup Boost or a point in Powder Mantle (I really like putting Powder Mantle on my builds as it's a constant source of damage), and maybe using more Poison augments on the sword instead of attack augments.
Wyvern Blade Luna, +60 Attack, +4 Poison, +20 Sharpness
Armor and Augments: Risen Kushala, + Frostcraft 1;
Tempest Robe, + MoH 1
Tempest Sleeves, +MoH 1, +Maximum Might 1
Virtue Coil, + MoH 1
Tempest Hakama, + Buildup Boost
Talisman: Frostcraft 2, Chameleos Blessing 3
Skills: Attack Boost 5, Critical Boost 3, WEX3, Max Might 3, Poison Attack 3, QS3, Chameleos Blessing 3, Wirebug Whisperer 3, Mail of Hellfire 3, Foray 3, Frostcraft 3, Heaven Sent 3, Evade Extender 2, Bloodlust 1, Coalescence 1, Burst 1, Buildup Boost 1, Intrepid Heart 1, Wind Mantle 1, Frenzied Bloodlust 1, Latent Power 1
Basically title of post.
I try to search the sub but I can’t find an answer specific to bow.
Once I have Fatalis bow (upgraded), which bow will be better to farm Fatalis?
Assuming both have same augments. I’m assuming Fatalis but I wanted to double check before prioritizing that weapon. I have full Fatalis set so I’m just farming for weapons now.
Got one recently, and I realized with my play style I could make it busted with slugger and frostcraft/full safi, tho I don’t know how to fully execute that. Also I duo with a glass cannon duelblades player, which is why I’m the stun/support player, so I would also ask for hunting horn stuff if that’s ok.
