Does anyone know an Eddie Mariano? Or worked with MPE Studios before?
Does anyone know what happened with the Borscht Corporation? They supported a lot of Miami filmmakers, with some really unique short films coming from them. I saw their film Omniboat: A Fast Boat Fantasia at the 2020 Sundance, but that never got distribution (which seems wild considering the great filmmakers they had involved in it).
It seems like all their social media and websites have gone silent. Would have loved to visit Miami again attend one of their festivals, but I’m getting the impression they have vanished?
I’m a total novice to filmmaking with limited experience would like to connect with talented individuals who are willing to share knowledge and collaborate on interesting film projects . Let’s team up and see what we can create.
My friend and I just decided to form a film club here in miami. Our goal is to screen eclectic movies and also local short films. We had our first screening of the movie Hausu in October and our second event is coming up this month at gramps wynwood. We’re going to be screening Eyes Wide Shut dec 17th. I wanted to reach out here to see if any filmmakers would be interested in connecting and possibly collaborating on future events. DM me if interested! Our insta is @celluloid.9
Hey there,
We're a group of students working on a video streaming platform for indie filmmakers as part of our university course. We want to hear what you want from this kind of platform.
Would you mind taking a few moments to fill out our short survey?
do you guys have difficulty understanding what film theory is, film theory from the movies you watch and the movies you make.
what is the hardest part as a film maker to understand the film theory of the movies you make, and can you guys pick up the film philosophy and film pyschology of the movies you watch, can you explain what goes on on a scene to your cast and crew by explaining it in film theory, to execute your scene perfectly

Hey, I'm a local 305 Film Maker (Born and Raised). I've wanted to do more fun creative projects whether their narrative short films or documentaries. I've been doing a lot of corporate and commercial work and I'm feeling a little burnt out at moment, so I want to do some more creative work even if their low to no budget. Just really want to work on something fun and cooperative. Let me know if you have any ideas and I'd be happy to help. You can see some of my work here.
The ideal would love to be a DP on something creative and out of the box.
Thanks again and looking to meeting some local filmmakers.
Hi and hello -
I just wanted to briefly mention that a feature film that I was a part of producing is playing this upcoming weekend (Saturday, April 15th) at Coral Gables Art Cinema. 5 PM. The creative team of the film are all South Floridians and they'll be present following the film - director Justin Zuckerman, star Isadora Leiva, and production designer Natalie Montoya.
What's the film? It's called YELLING FIRE IN AN EMPTY THEATER. It was a selection at the 2022 Slamdance Film Festival and was recently picked up by Fandor/Cinedigm. We've been doing a kind of roadshow with the movie, and are excited about hitting our home state of Florida this month. The film has sold out showings in Jacksonville, as well as in Brooklyn, New York, Chicago, and elsewhere around the country.
There are really not too many good ways to get the word out about a small movie like this anymore - thought I'd pop on here just to let you know the movie exists, in the off-chance it happens it might be to someone's taste who can go.
The movie is something of an homage (and kind of a satire?) on the 'mumblecore' movies of the 2000s - it was shot for $2.5k on a miniDV camcorder, in a Brooklyn apartment whose rent was more than the entire shooting budget. It's an often-absurd comedy about a young woman who moves from FL to NYC and gets entangled in the crumbling relationship of the couple she moves in with.
We've had some good press and reviews for the movie, and if you're an aspiring filmmaker or just someone who enjoys small movies, I think you might like it.
Thanks for taking a peek, friends!
