Ok so I know you're supposed to go back to Creeds before getting the Sky Orb, which I have done but the ring is nowhere to be found. I'm playing SF Classics on Android and cannot for the life of me find it. Ive searched everywhere in the room with both A and C and nothing. I also never got a protect ring so I've got that going for me too.

What level should i be

I'm playing through sf3 and I am in chapter 4, but I don't really understand how exp works.

Dantares is a higher level than most of the party as he can move to attack more than other members. I got him up to level 12 but I saw that he was getting 1 exp from everything he fought, so I promoted him. This seemed to let him gain exp again, but once he leveled up to level 2, he started to gain 1 exp again.

Is it because he is fighting too low level enemies? Do enemies even have levels? Since he is promoted, does his level count as being level 2 or level 14 (12+2).

Will I get any other chance to hatch him? I'm pretty disappointed.

Really enjoying turn based strategy games where you have a unit to control

I know about War Groove and Advance Wars as well but looking for new recommendations

Ive seen soem mobile consoles coming up, like the steamdeck, logitech, acers so and so, And now this Anbernic thingie, is saying they can let u play sega saturn.

Ive tried it on my phone multiple times, everytime i upgrade my phone, i would try yabause or other emulators, and it will always habg up on the 2nd or third battle

Ive bought a good one on this Anbernic, RG556 i think was the name, if i can play there successfully, then will update here.

Hey! I recently released two new mods for Shining Force 1 and wanted to give them a little publicity.

The first is Ardens Armatura - Phase 1, the first section of a branching adventure featuring meaningful permadeath and decisions with consequences. Multiple playthroughs are advised to experience more of what the game has to offer. It's a super ambitious project, and being released in parts to get feedback from players on its future development.

I felt that line in my soul. Probably the most relatable thing I have ever read in this series lmao.

So I recently discovered that shining force has a GBA remake . But it's colours look washed out and horrible which is preventing me from playing it. Does anyone know of any recolour patches exist that can make the GBA game look decent on a backlit screen ?

I've read some mixed opinions here about whether archers serve a purpose, or if they're just a lesser version of other classes.

I personally think their usefulness is a bit of a rollercoaster throughout the game, and maybe some people don't like to ride that ride vs characters with more consistent improvement.

They're definitely useful at the beginning, but feel a bit underpowered once your knights get power spears. I still like using them on outdoor battles with rough terrain that slows your knights, but in fields or urban environments I'd rather just have more knights.

Once you get Elven Arrows and promote them, they feel useful again with the longer range, but the damage is a bit lackluster since their total attack is still less than a similar level knight with a power spear.

Towards the end when they're more leveled and get Assault Shells, they start to make sense again, but still not the best damage.

It's when I finally equip them with a Buster Shot that I feel like my patience has been rewarded, and I keep one in my squad the rest of the game.

I've done a 20/20 leveling on all 3 a couple times, and Diane always ended up with the best overall stats for me. Ever since then I just pick her and ignore Hans & Lyle.

Anyhow, those are my thoughts and experiences. I'm curious to hear others' takes on where the archers shine, where they struggle, whether it's worth having one in your squad at all, etc.

(And don't worry, I won't resort to name calling or block you if I happen to disagree with your opinion.)

I've been working on building a SF style TRPG system in Godot, and I wanted to get some opinions from fans on what they like about the series, what they require in a successor, what they would like changed. This survey is just meant to cover some of the fundamental mechanics. I'll be posting more surveys down the road for things like art, themes, etc. Stuff that becomes more relevant after the core systems are built, but if you have any other comments, suggestions, etc that are not covered in this one feel free to leave them here. I'm taking notes and planning pretty much everything already, so it's all worthwhile.

Max - stuck with this guy

Tao - first mage, Blaze damage per mp is efficient

Balbaroy - can equip strongest swords, flying mobility and agile, use power ring because his attack is weak

Gong - can use from first battle, easier to level up than other healers because he can attack and heal. He can be on the frontlines. Attack is good but fades towards end game. Use attack potions on him.

Mae - the most well-balanced knight. Good mobility and spears offer ranged attack. Some weapons can use magic.

Luke or Gort - Good attack and def. Atlas can do blaze. Luke ends with a bit higher attack.

Bleu - in my opinion only character worth grinding. Battle 19: Kane is perfect for grinding. The strongest character in the game and flying mobility.

Zylo - beast attack, hp and mobility

Domingo - Freeze 4, flying, boost

Anri - freeze 4 and bolt

Pelle - starts off strong but can fall behind Mae towards the end. Still worth using.

Khris - Best overall healer due to timing, Heal4 and Aura2.

Other characters I've used:

Jogurt - useless

Hans, Diane, Lyle - I don't know how anybody puts up archers. Just feels like the weakest class because their only positive is ranged attack. But they aren't super strong and have weak defense.

Arthur - Ends up the strongest knight, but the amount of grinding is just not worth it.

Ken - decent character I usually drop him because Mae and Pelle are better.

Alef - i love magic but too behind the other spellcasters. Bolt4 is powerful but very expensive spell.

Hanzou: Too weak. You get him too late in the game.

Musashi: Also too late in the game. Attack is lower than Luke but HP is a lot more. You also need to increase his mobility

It seems that every battle has some sort of area where I can't see anything and just have to poke around and guess where the enemies and my other units are... does this persist through all three scenarios? Right now I'm at the Vandal fight at the haunted mansion and am having a great time besides constantly battling the camera.

As it is, I am basically playing on fast-forward mode to tolerate the clunky Saturn 3D graphics, but this camera view is literally killing me.

Does this get any better in the 2nd/3rd scenarios?

Edit: OMFG - thank you guys so much! When I first set up the controls it showed the triggers as inactive because apparently they do not have any corresponding keyboard controls? idk playing with my DS5 now and all is well. Was only able to zoom in and out before so I figured it was just a bizarre design choice.

Considering a Minister is a religious figure it's weird that he's so dismissive of Astral's possible death, especially since the reason he's unconscious is from saving the King. I'm curious if the Minister is also that callous in the Japanese original.

Maybe it's the Minister's attempt to lighten the mood with a bad joke, but he says this when Sarah and Chester are showing concern for Astral. Kinda just feels like this was thrown into the American version either for a joke, or to be "edgy."

I'm beyond frustrated trying to save this character.

For those unfamiliar with Shining Force 3, let me describe this battle. You start at the bottom of a bunch of cargo boxes and it shows a monk in trouble at the top of those boxes that you must reach before she dies.

Yes, she is a monk.

Yes, she has the heal spell.

No, she will not use it under any circumstances.

If she dies you can no longer add her to the party. The path to her takes your centaur 3 turns to reach and you must also destroy a barrel blocking your path, and hope that an enemy is not blocking you, too.

I have tried five times now. Last time I saved her, and thought I was being smart by Egressing out and saving at the church. I thought I was successful, but then when I started the battle she was back under NPC control and died before I could get to her. At this point, she is just staying dead. A monk that is too stupid to heal herself is not someone I trust to defend King Bertram, anyways. One healer is good enough. Maybe Grace can get a Vigor Ball and get that Sarah glow-up.
