Hi Malaysian Redditors !!
I’m currently in a transitional phase in my career and could really use some advice. Here’s a bit about my background and situation:
I (26F) am a chemistry graduate with experience as a chemist in a lab, performing testing and analysis. I also worked in a corporate role creating documents related to my chemistry background. Before graduating, I briefly worked as a part-time preschool teacher, and I really enjoyed the experience.
So now, I left my corporate job because my husband and I were planning to relocate to his hometown. Unfortunately, the relocation has been delayed, so I’m only able to take freelance jobs for now since we’ll still be moving in the coming months. Once we move, we’re planning to settle down permanently, and I’ll look for a new job.
I’m not fond of corporate roles and want to transition into teaching. I feel that teaching would give me a sense of fulfillment since I enjoy work where I can see tangible results. Additionally, I believe a teaching career would offer a better work-life balance, which is important as we’re planning to start a family after relocating.
What are the steps I should take to transition from a corporate role to teaching?
Is it necessary to invest in certification programs to become a teacher? If so, what are the most affordable and effective options?
Are there alternative pathways to becoming a teacher without formal certification (e.g., private schools or tutoring)?
I’d love to hear from anyone who has made a similar career switch or has advice for someone looking to transition into teaching. Thanks in advance for your help!
How can I withdraw cash for exchange in Malaysia with only a Visa card ? Is there any money exchange services who accept card. Please help
Is having installing solar is the good idea to offset the cost of charging for EV and further savings.
Hi I just got terminated from my position today and I found out that the tax clearance takes 30 days and in order to continue with the EP cancelation I'll have to wait until I have the tax clearance letter and then wait for them to get my passport. The problem is I'll have to go back to my country and it's impossible for me to stay for a whole month without a salary (They are withholding my final salary) what am I supposed to do now? It would make sense if we are talking about someone who is resigning from their position so they have the time to apply for tax clearance but in my case it was termination so is anyone familiar with this situation?

I'm actually planning to install solar panel, but i have a question in mind to discuss
Having install solar panel, can it have increase in property value. As i did google, by general answer its says it can increase the property value. But how does the market value of this is been determined, does they have like random calculation on it. Because not all solar panel is having price. Maybe i can install cheap brand just for a sake increase in property value.
I did some research on it through google and asking around but i can't really get answer that really satisfy me.
Hey! I’m an international student doing MBA here in Malaysia, and I’ve been thinking a lot about what’s next after graduation. I’m sure some of you have been through this journey—from being a student to landing a job here—and I’d love to hear your experiences and get some insights (bonus points if you’re desi, haha). How did you find job opportunities? Are there any industries or companies that are international-student-friendly? And if you have tips for networking or navigating the job hunt here, I’m all ears! If anyone’s in Cyberjaya or nearby, maybe we can even meet up over chai and chat about this. I’d love to connect and hear your stories as I’m really keen on getting a job here.
Thanks so much in advance ^_^
Gonna be mixing English and Malay here, hope that's fine. But semalam while taking the monorail to Titiwangsa MRT station, I got followed by a foreigner. Dari stesen Chow Kit lagi, I noticed that this guy is staring at me and dia tak ada buat apa apa untuk sorok yang dia tengah stare. Bapak creepy.
Then when the monorail arrived at Titiwangsa, I walked quickly hoping to lose him in a crowd of people. But at the escalator to go to the concourse level, he was still behind me.
MRT Titiwangsa kan ada a few levels, and there's two escalators to get to the MRT level. I walked in a zigzag route and this guy was STILL following me, walking the zigzag route the same way I did. Last resort, I saw someone nak naik elevator, I walked quickly towards the elevator. While I was walking towards the elevator and the guy was going down the escalator, he turned to stare at me.
Told the police bantuan and he advised me to naik coach wanita and escorted me to MRT. He also said that this is a fairly common occurrence. Then in coach wanita, I saw several male foreigners staying inside the coach and then being shooed away by the officer.
Idk man, it was just so scary. I had my umbrella for self defense, but the feeling of being targeted... I just can't shake it off that easily. I'm really, really glad that MRT has coach wanita and officers that can help. And to think this happened in broad daylight! Taktahula macam mana kalau malam.
Edit: I'm not looking for advice, I know how to protect myself hence the umbrella, and finding a police officer to escort me to safety. I'm also not interested in providing further description the guy that followed me, I am sharing a precautionary story.
wanting to get my nails done there.. but im too lazy to ask my friends to go along with me 😬

Will vacuum packing down winter jackets and pants cause them to lose their fluff? Is there other ways to pack them without taking too much space in the suitcase?
For those that holding the professional certs that aren’t doing audit, what jobs are you doing? The title speaks for itself. How to buy items on international websites? Say the item is a shirt, do I need to pay import tax? And what about the declaration stuff? And do I need to fill out any documents? Any help is much appreciated 🙏🙏
DON'T TOUCH MY FUCKING CLOTHES.
I waited in the car for my clothes to be done in the dryer. Set a 33 min timer on my phone and everything. (Edit: THE DRYER TAKES 33 MIN GUYS. I SET THE EXACT TIME) As soon as my timer went off, i walk back into the dobi. It's not even 10m away from where i parked.
Some fucker went and put my clothes into the dobi's basket. And i saw the timer on the dryer is now 32 min and filled with someone else's clothes. This guy legit removed my clothes IMMEDIATELY after it was done. Couldn't have waited at least 3-5 minutes for the actual owner of the clothes to come and get them? Are u fucking serious? You livestreaming a panty-drying speedrun or something??? Why the FUCK was this guy so eager to get his hands all over other people's clothes.
I have to just hope the dumbass didn't leave any of my shit in the dryer and takes home one of my shirts or something 💀💀💀
Seriously, it's like I'm back in fucking uni having to hang up signs for 17 year olds who r using a dryer for the first time ugh 😡
Please tell me I'm not crazy. Surely it's not ok for me to just take out someone elses clothes without waiting even 2 min for them to come take it out themselves. Back me up here, chat.
I recently got my Australian citizenship and I have not renounce my Malaysian citizenship, I’m aware that Malaysia doesn’t allow dual citizenship but I kinda want to hold onto my Malaysian passport as majority of my family members are still there.
I’m flying back to Malaysia next year in January/February but was wondering which passport I should use to enter Malaysia from Australia? I’ve bought my tickets overlaying in KL so I can’t swap in between. I also want to renew my passport while I’m in Malaysia, my passport only expires in July 2025. I’m afraid that my passport will get flagged if I were to use my Australian passport to enter Malaysia, but also worried that they will ask for proof of visa while I use my Malaysian passport to enter Australia.
Please help!
Hi! As someone who owns an old-gen Smart TV, I’m considering to purchase a TV box (legal ones) to make my existing TV “smarter”. Here’s a few I found on what’s in the market.
But the thing is, I would also want to watch TVB. So a native integration to TVB is important, or at least surfing the web to TVB. Could anyone please suggest a good TV box? I’m a long-time Astro subscriber intending to cancel. Thanks!
Are there any recommendations for adult swimming classes in PJ?
For those of you considering solar energy, have you ever thought about doing a DIY solar panel installation? With the drop in solar costs, it might seem like a great way to save money upfront, but is it really safe or worth the potential risks?
Some questions on my mind:
If you’ve tried going the DIY route or explored the idea, what was your experience like? Would you recommend it, or do you think the risks outweigh the savings?

Hi, I’m not from Malaysia, but I’m hoping someone can help me. I met a guy on CMB who I believe is a Malaysian-Chinese catfish. I only have his personal and business WhatsApp numbers, as that’s how he contacted me. I also have photos of him, but I discovered that he’s using old pictures of a Chinese influencer based in China, so I’m certain they aren’t his real photos.
Although I’ve moved on from this incident and no longer communicate with him, I’m still curious about his true identity. Is there any way to trace who this person really is?

EDIT: To add some context, this situation lasted for 3 weeks, and yes, money is involved because I invested in his online shop for 'our future'—I won't disclose the amount or the well-known app involved. He then threatened me with pictures I sent, without my face. I've moved on and have no plans to take any action against him (choosing to remain kind until the end). I'm just curious about his identity. Filing a case would be a long process, especially since I'm not physically there, so it's probably better to let it go. But at least I want to know his information.
EDIT EDIT: u/momomelty suggested to add the link.
Here the versions to access the shop.
