Hey guys! I just applied to a couple of Cal States as a transfer applicant. I filled out the EOP application after applying. Even though I know that the actual deadline for EOP and rec letters is supposed to be in January, mine shows the rec letters deadline as December 19th for some reason?? Is anybody having the same issue and have any idea how I can fix this?
Currently at the University of Utah studying Physics/Electrical Engineering and doing pretty well, thinking of transferring to T20/T10 schools.
I read somewhere that being a top student at a mid level school is more desirable than an average student at an elite school for both grad school prospects and job prospects.
Is this true from any of your experiences? What are some reasons I should or shouldn’t transfer?
Is it possible to be full time community college student after only completing sophomore year of HS? Will they ask for your GED?
Hey Reddit, can anyone give specific stats that they applied with as a GT transfer?? I'm a GA resident finishing my first semester at UNG-Dahlonega and am stressing out because I made all A+ except for a B+ in Precalculus and I know it's going to already start me out with a 3.78 GPA. I know based on class requirements I literally cannot put in a transfer app until next fall to try and apply to GT for Spring 2026, so I know I have time to do better in my next year's worth of classes that can help my GPA but I'm already so stressed that it won't be a perfect 4.0. So, i'm trying to gather all the info I can to think about how to beef up my resume to help my likelihood of admissions. I know having a job and getting an internship is helpful to have on your resume but I just feel like the transfer holistic process is so competitive I have to have like a thousand things on my resume.
I was not offered a pathway when I applied out of high school, so I have to go through the holistic review process. I'd be applying to GT with the intent to pursue a Computational Media Bachelor's.
Say I get rejected for Spring 2026, does anyone know if GT can offer pathways from THAT rejection (if that makes sense.?) Like, could they offer me a pathway for transfer or no?
I'm currently a freshman at SUNY UB and I am from Buffalo. During my first round of applications, I got into UCSD, Colgate, Northeastern (off waitlist), and UCI (off waitlist). My older brother goes to UCLA out of state and our family pays a lot for his tuition. When I was choosing a college to go to, I was originally going to attend UCSD but chose to stay home and commute because my mother got laid off around that same time and going out of state would be a financial burden. I decided I would wait a year and work to save up money and now both of my parents are employed and have a good income. Commuting is also a pain in the ass. Right now I only have the beginning of my essay written and its mostly centered around how my university is my second home and I plan on transitioning it into my financial reasons for choosing my school. Is this even valid to write about? A lot of the advice I've seen is extremely ambiguous and I want some tips because I am trying to transfer to a t25.

Questions
-> Due to some reasons out of my control I'm have to transfer out of my current school which I'm kind of sad abt but its whatever. I'm poli-sci and if I have to transfer I mine as well go to a good school. Would my stats merit a HYPSM admit or should I focus on T-20 or T-50. I want to stay on the east coast but not in DC as that would defeat my reason for transferring. Any tips on schools?
Hey so on the UC Quick Guide, it says that a couple of UC’s don’t consider/use the PIQ’s in their admission process. That’s self explanatory but I’m curious if the admission officers are allowed to view them or simply are blocked at those specific campuses. I know a few past UC staff members browse this sub so I’d like to hear how that works. Thanks
anyone have any experience with the programs or have any thoughts. I have heard UCLA is more theoretical and prepares you for grad school while UCSD program is geared toward preparing you for the work out of undergrad.
Anyone still waiting for their decision email to pop up 😭😭😭 Winter break is coming and I'm waiting every single day 😭😭😭
so i submitted my transfer applications to the UCs and submitted all of the classes i’ve taken, are in progress, and i’ve planned for the winter and spring.
my dilemma is that im taking a theater course rn, and was told about a direct study class that i could take next spring. im really interested but would i be able to enroll even if i didn’t put it as “planned” on my applications.
ermmm idk pls help
I am studying at a university outside California. I want to transfer to a community college (CC) in California. Which CC offers a better chance for me to transfer to a UC? Also, do CCs provide scholarships to international students? Does emailing professors help?
Hey everyone,
I’m currently a student at UCSD, and I’m trying to decide whether I should transfer to another school. I am a Psych major, and looking to go into the medical field and interested in jobs similar to Neuropsychology.
I’m considering transferring for two main reasons:
My Background:
Why I’m Hesitant to Transfer:
Additional Context:
What would you do in my position? Is transferring to a D3 school or a higher-ranked academic institution worth it, or should I stick it out at UCSD and take advantage of the opportunities here?
Would love to hear your thoughts and advice! Thanks in advance!
I am about to transfer from one college to another as a freshman. I am also about to fail my math final. The class i’m about to fail doesn’t even meet the math requirement for the new school im attending. What do i do? Will this affect my transfer?
I got this email this morning and when looking into it I couldn’t find anything anywhere about this being true. Did anyone else receive this email as well? Only asking because I’m considering applying to here as well if I have the money before January 15th!
Alrighty so here's the background: I am a current CC student getting two associate degrees in the spring (LA and Business). I currently have a 4.0 GPA and pretty decent ECs (artistic writing, NGO, Research manager, volunteer, Air Force, 2 CC clubs (1 academic and 1 self-defense; I started both). I started at a trad uni but dropped out in third year (WAY too much happened to explain here, but yes there is a logical reason behind). I only have 1 good LOR currently rip. Top 5% in hs, hs gpa 3.8ish?
Essentially I want to hear what people think in the prestige vs price debate. Long term aim is government intelligence and law careers, so idrk how much UG school name matters. I am applying as an independent on the fafsa, but know a lot of these schools mostly take those who can pay. I have guaranteed admission to my state school but want to know if T25 is worth pursing (I feel an affinity with UChicago, Cornell,Duke, LACs), especially since I want to major in international business and anthropology/philosophy/ancient civ (humanities). I also thrive better in smaller settings and want peers who will genuinely root for me and that I can root for. none of that snooty stuff. It is going to take a while to write all these essays and make sure my ECs are getting that flair; I also need to retake the SAT by Jan. LATEST (I did not even try in hs, took once). I can write a lot more fun stuff instead of PIQs which can build on my passions, but on the other hand, I want to give my kids a cushy legacy option and I kinda want to go into politics. The last thing I want is to graduate with crazy debt, so I am prioritizing need-blind schools. I will only attend a uni if I get a substantial fin aid package. Being a transfer student from CC, applying as an independent, and having bad grades at first uni, is it worth it to even apply? And if so, where would you recommend? The worst part is that my state school is actually good, but does not have pre-law advising or large social science/humanities networks. Please help me, I am losing my mind. Do I even have a chance of getting in? What is the change in my trajectory? Any and all advice is appreciated; thank you all in advance :)
Anyone else replying to comms and what’s ur gpa?
Second yr Santa Ana College student. I just wanna ask if anybody ever transferred into a good school(such as an ivy league school)from CCC? My teachers recommend that I try,but I don't even know which schools to put in commonapp, cause I know all those courses,IGETCs are different. I'm currently at 3.85 and I am really struggling with whether I‘m gonna do common app. If anybody did go to an out of state school feel free to share ur experience🥃🍷
So I’m currently a freshman at a small girls school 45 minutes away from my home. I’m not happy here and I know I definitely would like to transfer. I applied to UCF (my dream school & my only denial for fall 2024) and I got in for the spring. But it took me a while to really decide if I wanted to transfer from my current school because of all the aid they offered. So now I would have to rush to get everything together, money, bringing my car, registering for classes, etc. so transferring to UCF in the spring probably isn’t the best idea. I also applied to ESU which is 20 minutes away from my home. I got in for the spring but they aren’t offering me a direct path to nursing. I would have to go undecided, get my pre reqs, and then apply to nursing school by internally transferring. I also applied to UCF for fall which would give me more time to get everything together. I haven’t been accepted for the fall yet.
Even though I have both of these options I still don’t know which one would truly be best for me because I don’t want to keep transferring. UCF is huge & the thought of trying to make new friend and get involved makes me a little animus. But it has been my dream school since I was young. On the other hand, I have a friend who goes to ESU so I know I would have a friend. She also runs a club she wants me to join so I know one way I can get involved. But, so many people from my high school go there so I’m not sure if I would truly be able to live my best life lol. I also don’t know if I really want to live home or if it’s just an easy out because I hate my current school.
Another factor is I have a part time job and a babysitting gig right now so I would have to quit both to go to UCF. So my income would stop until I can find another job in Florida.
I’m so confused. All advice welcomed!!!
Hi, current freshman at Brandeis University looking to transfer to schools in the city. Which schools should I consider for a lateral transfer, or/go up by a couple ranks (granted I maintain a 3.8-4.0). Any suggestions will be appreciated!
basically the title. UCB requires "intro to cognitive science" which isn't available in any nearby CCs and not even as an online class at any CC in California. I called admissions twice and the first time they said it would still be held against me, and the second time they said that it won't be. I'm just confused. It's the only one I'm missing.
Hey everybody, I’m currently in my first year of cc and going to fill my transfer application next year.
I was looking at my major requirements for my major and I was just wondering if I can take one of my major requirements during my spring semester next year, so it’ll be a planned class but not done when I submit my transfer application.
I was wondering if this will affect my admission chances at all? Will it hurt me because it’s a major requirement and I haven’t finished it yet? Should I just do all my major requirements first?
Thank you everybody
I just realized on my CSU and UC apps that I totally forgot to include all of the classes I withdrew from, is this gonna be a problem? Haven't seen any other cases like this anywhere online and don't really know what to do as this looks super bad on my end in the eyes of the admissions team.
How many people will have completed a DATA 8 equivalent. I feel like completing this may help admission chances because it’s only offered at a select few CCs. Thoughts?
Will completing IGETC as a STEM major boost my admission chances. It is not required for CDSS at UC Berkeley but I would imagine it helps right?
So on my application there was a few questions in particular asking if I’d been a former foster youth or ward of the court. I selected them but I was worried that it could go either way. I figure students applying as a transfers are such a small pool and I’d have a spotlight on me.
I tried to make sure to frame it as something I’ve grown from and am grateful for in different parts of my application. (I’m really not. It was horrible and I wish I had parents. I have CPTSD from frequently being abused and seeing other kids being abused physically/ mentally/ sexually). I also tried to make it related to my major and career goals as a psychologist.
I feel like they could look at my GPA 3.5 and see that I’m a former foster youth and lost cause despite having to overcome multiple obstacles created by that (I was homeless, provided for myself, etc).
Very complicated issue for me, I had a W that recently got approved to an EW literally the day after applications were due.
Do UC's care if you take an important major requirement class during the winter/summer semester at your CC? I feel like winter and summer courses have a reputation of not covering the full class content so I'm wondering if taking a few of my reqs during the winter or summer would hurt my app.
Do the ucs look at winter session grades prior to decisions? Just applied for fall 2025 but I'll be taking 2 winter courses this month which end in january and I could really use a gpa boost lol
