I am currently a student at ucsd and putting in an application to transfer to ucla. I need to know if one of my classes will possibly transfer for a statistics credit at ucla. There is no way for me to know for sure what transfers from what, but statistics is a requirement for the major at ucla. I took Sociology 60, and here is the description for the class , SOCI 60 - Practice of Social Research. “This course introduces students to the fundamental principles of the design of social research. It examines the key varieties of evidence, sampling methods, logic of comparison, and causal reasoning researchers use in their study of social issues." If anyone can help that would be great. Also, if ucla requires statistics, can I take a statistics course for pass or no pass, or does it have to be for a letter grade for them to approve it for transfer?
I was wondering if someone could PM me regarding transferring to a high end university. I’m currently attending a top 25 school. A Sophomore in Fall semester at the moment.
Thanks in advance.
Hi please help!
I am a california community college student with the dream of transfer to uc berkeley. I had read that seniors cannot transfer to the engineering school and I am worried I will hit the credit max (from what I've seen, 89).
For background, I tested out of highschool 2 years early. I took a total of 30 units at a different community college while in high school, and am eligible for credit for 5 separate APs (Chem, Bio, World, Calc AB, Japanese).
If I follow everything that is listed as lower division major req on assist, i get to 59 units. Adding up to a total of 89.
BUT if you include the prereqs for the classes (not listed on assist), I get way past the 89 unit junior limit.
I could reduce the number of strongly recommended classes I'm taking, but because my major is so selective, I'm scared I won't be accepted.
Please help!
I went to CSUF for my freshman year, then transferred to CalArts for my sophomore year (this year) ended up withdrawing because I hated it, and now I'm applying for UCSB (fall 2025 junior year).
My question is should I dual enroll in community college and CSUF for spring? Will this increase my chances? I heard they favor CC students for transferring. I don't really want to fully enroll in the CC because if I don't get in that's kind of screwing me up to finish at CSUF.
Also, does anyone know of any good sites like Assist.com that help determine if a CSU class is likely to transfer to UC? I've been comparing class numbers, titles and descriptions and I think I have a few so far.
I am currently a 2nd year at UCSC looking to transfer from Biomolecular Engineering here at UCSC to Biomedical Engineering at UCSD due to the fact that UCSC has no mirror program or mechanical engineering program. I will also be applying to most other UCs and some CAL States as well.
I had a couple of mishaps and my GPA as of right now is around 3.18-3.2 with some good work experience and decent extracurriculars.
What are the chances of a junior-year transfer?
I'm currently taking physics mechanics at a CC that is far from where I live, and I want to start taking the rest of the physics series at a CC that is closer to where I live. Would this be possibly as I am trying to transfer to UCD or UCSD for EE.
Is this a bad idea? I just want to follow the 7 course pattern since it’s not really a requirement for STEM students. I’m following the EE lower div requirements to transfer to Cal EECS, UCLA EE, UCI, UCSD. Because In summer I really can’t take classes, I need to go to work and also helping my grandparents. And the time for taking these HS/S classes I rather be going to evolve in my CC clubs, research, Hackathons, volunteering focusing on 4.0 GPA. Are there anyone who didn’t follow IGETC and still get in to UC?
(Except Berkeley other UC’s accept IGETC so you don’t need to take any HS/S classes after you transfer.) Edit: I already have America government and American history class so you don’t need to take it at UC.
I'm in a pretty bad situation where it does not look like I'll be able to take chemistry at my school (Chem3A at UCSC), but it is listed as a required course for UC to UC transferring. Does anybody have any ideas on if there's anyway for me to clear the requirement without taking the course? If I don't have any way to clear the requirement, is my application just dead because I'm missing this one requirement which I could just take at the transfer school anyway? Thank you!
Hi! I’m looking to transfer in fall next year to cal state and UC for computer science. At the moment I have about a 3.6 and have almost A’s and B’s with about two C’s. My two major problems are that I started in 2018 and really screwed up and basically almost got kicked out of school cause I dropped out of every class. I can back in 2023 and raised my gpa up significantly. The second thing is I haven’t finished all of the major preparations for some cal states and UC but have taken multiple STEM and programming classes.
I would prefer to go to UC but don’t mind cal state, do I have any shot for either on? And which ones would be best?
Hi! Gonna keep this short. I’m applying this fall for physics and will have completed all major prep + recommended + IGETC/Calgetc courses by this fall.
I’m not taking any classes in the winter and spring tho so I wanted to know if there are Berkeley admits here who did the same and took gap semester AFTER the fall they applied. Just collecting some data.
Thx!
Hi I’m a current freshman here at UCSC but have already begun to think about transferring, I’ve been thinking about this before I even accepted the decision. I know that’ll probably get this post comment dogging on me but I’m not here for that, I'm here for advice and guidance. The main reason for me wanting to transfer right now is because for my proposed major I put film, I still want to do film but instead as a passion not as a career, and currently I've been interested in the civil engineering and architecture fields. However, because of my past mistakes and failure to do my research, ucsc doesn't have any of those or even similar ones, So I come here seeking advice and guidance. I plan on transferring out for my third year, keeping up my good grades, building connections, and being involved(Clubs, Volunteering etc), so far I think I’ve been doing a good job with those things and want to keep on building up a good resume. So basically I want to ask a couple of questions:
Thanks for anyone who reads this and leaves a comment or reaches out
I just got an email today titled "fall 2025 uc tag notification posted," just wondering if anyone else has gotten something like this?
Hi does anyone know what the admit rates are for the statistics major at Berkeley. I believe it has changed because statistics has been moved from l&s to cdss.
Hey guys I had a question about how transferring from a WA state CC would look for me in terms of strength of application.
Without my dual enrollment credits (running start) my gpa is a 3.83 and with those credits it’s 3.72. I feel like my running start credits are holding me back and I wanted to know if I still have a strong case for transfer.
The pre requisite courses are a 4.0/4.0, but I’m worried about my overall gpa here with my running start credits. I know that my essays are gonna be really good and I have pretty good extracurriculars as well. The essays for major are going to be strong because I have strong major preparation through my extracurriculars and I explain those in my essays.
What are my chances?
Thank you!
For my freshman year I went to a top school in the world and just felt very overwhelmed. I did an engineering program and from 6 am to 1 am every day I would be studying. It was very draining. It took me away from doing my hobbies on the weekend and felt like I wasn’t getting a “traditional college experience” whatever that means. Near the end of my first year I decided it would be best to go back and transfer to a school closer to home. I thought I would be able to go out more and do my hobbies more often at this school because it was just a regular state school that wouldn’t be so challenging. Now I have been at the new school for nearly a full semester and I hate it. Everyday I’m just berated with the thought of transferring back. I miss my old friends, the clubs I was in, and the culture of the much bigger school. I also feel as though I am missing out on the opportunity of being with other students who are driven. I’ve struggled to make friends at my new school too. I had a bunch of friends from high school that I’m living with but outside of that circle it just doesn’t feel like there’s a place for me at my new school as there was at the old one. The only real advantage is that I have so much more free time with how much easier this curriculum is but I think a big part of that too is I’ve learned how to time manage and do the whole college thing better. Anyway my question is do I go back to my old school and add a semester to my degree or should I stick it out here? Some more info is that I don’t have to decide til April and financially it would be very similar. I also wouldn’t have to reapply because I’m technically still enrolled in my old school. I also don’t want to look like a coward to those around me who just runs away every time something gets hard. If you have any advice on transferring back or this feeling of regret too anything will help. I’m also wondering if you have transferred back does it now feel like you were just romanticizing it all?
Has anyone been able to transfer to UCSD with a low GPA? Like 2.7-3.0..... I am at a 2.7 currently, but with my fall grades after this semester will be a 3.0-3.1. I didn’t take school as seriously before as I do now. So applying is going to be a long shot for me but I'm hoping for some type of hope. I'm applying for Public Health at UCSD
Am I required to have AS-T degree to transfer to the other CSU from community state colleges? Let's say I've got a list of 5 colleges I can go to as an international student, but I think only 1 of them offers AS-T degree for my major...
So, I'll just repeat myself, am I really required to have AS-T degree and not AS in order to transfer? If not, what are the other ways to transfer into CSU with AS? Like, are there some requirements I'll have to meet, certain credits will be lost maybe?
Hi, probably has been asked before. Has anyone here successfully transferred as a Biochem major without taking the Ochem 2 course outlined in the major prep course on the website? I plan on taking Ochem 1 this spring however I wanted to know if applying this fall is even worth it. I have completed the other major prep courses at this point. Thank you to anyone who answers.
Hi. I’m applying to UC Berkeley from a community college to transfer next fall. I have completed all the pre-requisites for economics but I’m concerned about my chances to get in so I was thinking of applying for Political economy because it has a higher acceptance rate. I have completed the ECON1 and ECON2 requirements for Political economy and I’m on my way to complete the proficiency test in Spanish but won’t complete the Statistics class requirement until spring and I’m afraid that might affect my chances. What do you guys think? Any advice would be appreciated.
possible tw: mention of anxiety/throwing up/mental health
I feel really bad because my parents spent so much time and money for me to go to UCSC but the school is just not for me. I’ve told them about how bad my anxiety has gotten to the point I’ve thrown up and skipped meals, but my dad (who has been in the military forever) just… doesn’t believe in mental health? He tells me things like how it’s just my thoughts and I’ll get used to it, but it really is so bad. I want to transfer out after this quarter because I don’t think I can finish my first year here. My parents, mostly just my dad, want me to try it out for the full school year and are pretty much giving me no chance to even explain myself. I understand it’s my fault that I chose this school when I could’ve gone to UCSD (where I’m from) and they told me many times, but I wanted to try SC out. I feel so stupid and I know I’m disappointing my parents in wanting to transfer to a community college, but I do plan to transfer to another UC afterwards. It’s weird because my dad wants me to transfer but he wants me to do the full year here. I’ve confided with my mom and she wants to let me transfer but my dad tends to blame her for my decisions, and I don’t want them to argue over something that’s entirely my fault.
tldr: my parents want me to do a full year at ucsc but i want to transfer to a community college close to home after this quarter due to reasons and i cant seem to convince them
Hello all, I'm a computer science student and I seem to be at a crucial crossroads. Presently, I attend a university, but seriously considering transferring to Northern Virginia Community College for a cybersecurity degree-very excited about it. The thing is, my current university does not offer great placements or internships, but staying feels safer since it's a university. NOVA seems to have a strong cybersecurity program with greater career opportunities, but it's a community college, I'd have to move and it could actually cost me more than where I am now.".
Would you switch? Any advice on whether it's worth paying more to a community college if that offers better job prospects?
I get that having more resources for difficult classes now is a thing, but all your general education classes are online and require no effort to get an A. When I did CC 8 years ago, I actually had to read books to get an A in humanities courses. No shade, but I'm just thinking all GPA's are inflated to shit now.
so i’m starting my apps and basically i’m transferring in one year so i will have 60 by the end of spring but is it possible to transfer as a sophmore? i mean i would prefer that if it is i wanna apply to ucla ucsb uci ucsd ucb and other schools so wanted to see if anyone knows
Hi, I'm currently at a fairly prestigious school (public ivy, t-25 i think, etc.), but it really isn't what I'm looking for. For context, I was admitted to NYU and Carnegie Mellon (and am hoping to transfer in), but I'm really worried and stressed about the transfer process and could use any advice you have to offer. Some stats of mine: 3.85 gpa unweighted 4.2 weighted (dropped after applications), many very good EC's, and I'm on track for a 4.0 at my current college.
I am a Spring 2024 intake in SBU and I applied for Spring 2025 in Baruch finance. Since I could only provide my first semester’s gpa, they looked into my HS results too (I did HS outside of HS). I provided 2 recommendation letters from two professors, essay, Toefl score (since I come from non USA background), 1st semester transcript. My gpa is 3.7. Baruch was kind of my sole resort for making things right in my undergrad. I feel helpless. I was to appeal and I want it to be flawless. My request to those who appealed and got accepted after is, can you please share how should I approach with the appeal, and what may have worked for you? Thank you so much in advance.
Hi I am so stressed I'm a psych major and I am on track to getting a B on my Stat class and it is worrying me so much. I have gotten all A's and only have two prereqs left. I am in one club and I am going to join another one soon. Am I doomed lol. I really want to get in a UC and I am also in TAP
Hi, I’m currently a Bio major at a CC but looking to transfer into Neurobiology/Neuroscience. My counselor recommended I take Calc with Analytic Geometry 1 and 2, but I’m not very confident with math and apparently I can just take Applied Calc 1 and 2 for UC transfers. So should I just take applied calc, or do I stick with Analytic Geometry?
I'm currently a community college student in the US and have had an interest in continuing my last two years in a campus in Europe. However, I'm having a hard time finding European universities that take US transfer students and US universities that have campuses out in Europe (like how NYU has a campus in Shanghai, etc.).
Can anyone recommend to me colleges that have campuses outside of the US that I can apply to like how NYU does?
Hello I'm currently a college student attending q community college and I have basically finished all the class I need to transfer to a 4 year college. This semester I was just taking some classes out of interest and I currently find myself not able to continue with the courses. I have already applied to the school I would like to attend and they have received my transcripts. Is it possible for me to just drop out of these classes without it affecting my stance with the school I applied to or am o screwed I don't want to use my withdrawal because I don't have enough left and I didn't account for my illness to Bec worse please what can I do.
