A place for all discussions and sharing of things about the Australian Psychedelic band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
The Values of this sub should line up with the values of the lads, so we won't accept any form of Racism, Homophobia, Transphobia or Sexism. Zero tolerance for any of this, including trying to bait people into arguments, we see this all the time. If you come into this space with this sort of bigotry, it will result in a ban.
Everyone has opinions, and friendly debates are great, but don't be a dickhead. Be kind to your fellow weirdo.
This one is a no brainer, but for clarification, Gizzard related things are fine such as posts about the Murlocs, Leah Senior or Tropical FS. Posts about music recommendations are fine as well at the moment.
Many times when the band makes a post, we get 20 posts made screen-shotting the instagram/twitter post. Please search to see if an update has been posted before you post yours!
Do not post links to leaked/pirated material or posts related to where to find nug streams and/or downloads. This includes “Dm me for the link” comments.
Sharing early access codes for getting tickets is how bots/scalpers get tickets and sell out shows. We know we all want to get those tickets, but please do not post them here.
Phrases like "there is no Planet B" weren't initially coined by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - most printed references aren't related to the band. (user-made content that references a KGATLW lyric is generally acceptable - but something like a cross-posted picture of literal Vegemite is probably not)
**Something like a consolidated tier-posting thread is okay - but if there are dozens of copycat threads it tends to stifle everything else.
(this includes template-based memes, if there's a viral trend resulting in large quantities of similar images)**
**After some discussion, we are banning posts that are AI generated, including art, music and or text.
Some Clarification though, posts about or featuring Gizzard's use of AI are allowed, as Jason has used it before in his art. Posts that happen to have AI art in them, but aren't the main focus of the post are fine.
(So no “I put in this gizzard lyric into an AI art generator, but-).
Discussions about AI art in regards to the band are fine as well.**

Framed my other 4 posters as well and will post them once I hang them up
Highly recommend these three! Curious to hear other people’s favorites.
For me, it was Catching Smoke that popped up randomly on Youtube Music about a year ago. I immediately enjoyed the B3K album, and tried exploring a dozen other random songs on their own which didn't really click. It wasn't until I picked up Flying Microtonal Banana on a whim and listened to it all the way through about 2 weeks ago that it all started to come together, there's just so many ear worms and riffs I can't get out of my head. I can't stop now, and all the stuff I told myself I wouldn't like is now inevitably making its way into my collection.
Send help.
Just sharing in case some of you aren’t aware of the option of a portfolio to keep your King Gizz posters pristine.
If you are backed up on framing your posters (like me) this is an excellent option to store and display them.
I highly recommend storing posters flat and out of the tube if it’s going to be long term. With a portfolio, the posters are safe, secure and flat (plus you can actually look at them!)
If it’s worth standing in line for hours, then spend the extra money and invest in a portfolio. This one cost me $135 shipped and can store 40 18x24 prints (or 100 if you buy more sheets), which comes out to $3.37 per poster if it’s full. It comes in bigger sizes as well, and is acid free!
Happy holidays everyone!
I've been messing around with how music changes the tone of scenes, and I thought King Gizzard's energy would be PERFECT for one of the coldest fights in Arcane. Jinx is just so wild, and this track nails her vibe perfectly!
I love how the lyrics ‘Got you in my point-blank range as I take aim, I'm coming at you like a hurricane' is LITERALLY what's happening in the fight. It amazes me just how well it worked 😆
This is of course just for fun, and as a huge fan of both Gizz and Arcane, l'd love to hear what you think! Does it work for you?
A super-fan user over on Quadraphonicquad.com recently brought my attention to KGLWs bootlegger program and I jumped at the opportunity to mix one of their live shows in surround sound. I'm a little late joining the Bootlegger train (more of a casual fan before this) but I hadn't found any other surround mixing projects here so I thought this might be of interest to some of you. I chose the first night at Red Rocks primarily because the fan had been at this show.
Thank you to the band for being so generous with their live stems and to Jackson Devereux at Heapskeen films for giving me permission to share his awesome concert film on Youtube and as a download alongside my Dolby Atmos and 5.1 mixes.
There are a few download options in this Dropbox folder:
I mixed this in my 7.1.4 home studio and I tried to recreate the big immersive ambience of being at a live show. I think this is one of the strengths of multichannel audio; creating a sense of space that can otherwise sound a little flat in stereo.
It was tough to pick one song at times as there were so many great renditions with a lot of variety. Some hold personal sentiment, but if you have a version of a song that you think is too good to have been left off let me know! I'm open to recommendations for swaps. Whenever the last show(s?) get added I'll make the final update. Happy listening!
Merry Gizzmas!
i used to watch this live recording of gizzard at the red rocks playing work this time. it's like eight minutes long, he messes up the beginning a little n then shreds at the end for like two minutes. it got taken off youtube recently and can't find it anywhere, wondering if any of y'all could let me know. thanks !
i just recently listened to petronicdagonic apocolpyse fully through for the first time and something that has stuck out to me since when the album came out was the the album which has of course has the dragon on the cover but to me it looks like it could has be like a symbol/image of the King Gizzard and plus isn't a dragon kind of the king of lizards aka a king gizzard idk this is just a theory/idea i had but what do you guys think?
This is probably the most my coworkers have seen me smile- I was so happy.!
And by “should” I mean “please.” I’m not up to the task, personally.
i used to wonder why people would rate Polgondwanaland as their favorite/the best because i always leaned towards their garage rock side, so i felt Nonagon Infinity was their magnum opus. the next ones i loved directly after that one were FMB and Gumboot Soup.
however, i’ve been revisiting it much more recently and it honestly is quickly getting close to being my favorite right now. i totally get what Polygondwanaland fans see. i see the fourth color.
it’s so dense with so many thick layers that interdependently weave in and out of themselves, ending up with a twisted but intoxicating groove. the polyrhythms perfectly evoke that fourth color/fourth dimensional feeling.
Hey y’all - wondering what you think is the best song by the band to show first-timers, specifically of the baby-boomer generation. Obviously a lot of great psych and more “classic rock” sounding tracks to choose from.
Inb4 questions: O.N.E. was the track playing when I had this stoned thought
Hey all, I have been in the Raleigh/Durham area for a bit and I am looking for some like-minded people to play music with. I am a guitar player with about 18 years of experience and have been singing for longer. I play a variety of music, but tend to play blues, funk, and metal. Anyone nearby that would like to play some music? I am not opposed to playing shows, but mostly looking to have fun.
Reading th GQ article, and Joey wanting to be a DJ!?! Late nights and disco balls 🤞
Just came out. Very excited for next year’s Phantom Island release!
I recently got a synthesizer and want to try and recreate this part of Acarine.
