/r/JihadInFocus
JihadInFocus is intended to be a gathering point for individuals interested in aggregating, discussing, and analyzing the phenomenon of militant Islamism (of any sect) and global Jihadism specifically. News, videos, press releases, analysis, and other related items are welcome here. Non-jihadi militancy or violence is better suited to conflict-specific subreddits.
This subreddit is intended for people of all demographics to have an environment to discuss Jihadism civilly, and in an effective manner. This place aims to be a haven for mature and level-headed examination of the Jihadist movement.
SUBREDDIT RULES
Fairly common amongst the more serious discussion subreddits:
1: Keep discussion civil. This is fairly open ended, and will be interpreted open ended as well. Disagreement can happen without the need for rude or uncivil behavior.
2: Do not editorialize submissions. Save your opinions for the discussion itself.
3: Bigotry, racism, sexism, Islamophobia (or any other violent anti-religious rhetoric), and similar behavior will result in an immediate ban.
4: 'Add nothing' sarcastic one liners will be removed with extreme prejudice.
5: Cheering death, in any form, is unacceptable.
6: Violations of these rules, or behavior that doesn't contribute to a civil environment, will lead to warnings and bans up to and including permanent bans. Play nicely.

Like many of you, I find this subreddit a much needed haven for discussion in a sea of misinformation, bad actors and bigotry. Unfortunately, due to the moderation of this sub falling to non-existent levels (1 suspended account, 1 inactive for some time, and 1 who seems to just collect moderation roles on subreddits as a hobby) we've had someone who is here for all of the wrong reasons spamming this place to shit.
The last time this happened I managed to get hold of one of the 2 remaining mods to take action but it's beginning to be clear that this will be a recurring problem and will continue to make this sub a very offputting environment to engage in reasonable discussion and sharing of information. I feel guilty to do this as I have nothing but respect for all the people who went into creating this sub, alumni of r/SyrianCivilWar and the like but the only solution I can see now is starting fresh, at least until mods become more active or they recruit new active members to the team.
I've thrown together /r/EyeOnJihad. I've never ran something like this before but I hope in light of the current situation it can become a fruitful space for everyone that is here for the right reasons. Over time I intend to clean up the appearance and more importantly, appoint some mods but for now it's just a blank slate and I invite all of you (sans spammer) to make use of it.
