Hello, as the title suggests I’m looking for some pros and cons that I may have missed in regard to moving to ID.
A little background, I’m a male in my mid 20’s and have been living in the greater PHX area (AZ) my entire life. I’m not saying I’m dying to get out of AZ today or tomorrow but in light of how the state is going, and other factors, I’m considering other places to live if the time comes for me to move. For various reasons (political affiliation, geographical location, proneness to natural disasters, weather, climate, proximity to loved ones) Idaho is pretty much the best option for me if I were to move.
I think I’d enjoy a more rural lifestyle, a more isolated lifestyle (as opposed to living in the concrete jungle of PHX), and it seams more peaceful. All the same I’d miss my friends and family here in AZ and as dumb is must sound to y’all I enjoy not having to drive in snow.
For those living in ID, primarily in the outskirts of the Boise area, please chip in and give me something to think about.
Thanks everyone.

I've lived in Alaska my entire life, and I'm going through the process for getting into air traffic control, and I am finally near the end. I know there isn't a ton of prospects for ATC in Idaho, but you guys from what I have been researching are my top choice if I need to move.
I know the common joke "it's terrible here, don't look into it" to keep outsiders from ruining your state, I get it. But it is Idahos values, low population, low crime, and beautiful scenery that makes me want to move there. I love my 2nd amendment rights and your state seems to be the best for that. I'm just wondering if there is any insights into Idaho that I can't easily get from internet research you guys can give me?
I've honestly been considering moving even if I can get an Alaskan position considering the movement from the left here with rising crime and asinine policy choices. Idaho seems to have everything I love about Alaska minus the coast lines but little to none of the things I dislike about here.
hi everyone,
pls be kind! i just wanted some advice or anything on my situation of moving to idaho, ,my bf and i are moving from california.
my bf and I are going to be moving there sooner than we thought, we have an apartment in mind and i thought it would be a good idea to speak to people from idaho. the city we're planning to go to would be pocatello. so, i wanted to ask, is there any suggestions you have for us on jobs, any places you guys like to go to in the area in your free-time, etc? how do people act there, are y'all nice? LOL. i have done my research prior to this but, nothing better than speaking to people directly that LIVE in idaho. anything you guys can tell us to stay away from, go to, etc would be very helpful. ANY advice at all about idaho, pocatello, or other cities. pls be respectful again
thank you so much.
Hey all, what are some good stores in Ontario, OR to check out for gummys?
Heya fellow Idahoans who hate our flag, I made some drafts and wanted some feedback. Used some of our emblems, like the syringa, the appaloosa, and the star garnet but tbh we don't have a lot going for us symbol and history wise so ... yeah, if/when we actually do a redesign, I bet it turns out very generic. Although just about anything would be better than the seal.
(Also I know the cowboy is missing his hand. Let's just say it was lost in a tragic accident involving a bear and a runaway combine)
I’ve never been registered to a party, for 30+ years. People have interests, and I believe in freedom. If I were a Russian agent, I’d use Reddit to sow division and discord. As an American, I appreciate your insight, but not your regurgitated points someone else thought up. I’ve never had a “my team,” I’ve had my priorities. If you’re Mormon and are focused on 6 children, cool. Hard working Guatemalan working ag, thanks. Let’s give you status and pay your taxes (including your employer). I’ll make money on this skirmish, but my aspirations for our nation and state are much more. I left a blue state because they had it wrong. Can we focus on our principles again, without foreign meddling fostering division amongst neighbors?
Good morning my good people of Reddit. My question is simple. Would you move to Idaho Falls if you had other options? The situation is simple. My wife and I have been bouncing the idea of moving to ID, Idaho Falls specifically. I am 95% sure I am going to get a job offer in my field that pays similar to what I make in my home state. I see this Reddit is divided on the topic of all things ID, so I need to ask. Is It worth the move? For reference we have 3 sons, and no plans to have anymore children.
This has nothing to do with sales or real estate and doesn’t break rules. I’m curious about people’s perspectives and just trying to understand what others thoughts are in this country where we have freedom of speech and value sharing with each other for connection, like mindedness and family. 🙏
The influence of PragerU on our children would be a massive mistake, it is a propaganda machine aimed at children and young adults. Our kids deserve better than this.
Some examples of their video titles, “Income Inequality Is Good,” “Make Men Masculine Again,” and “Are Some Cultures Better Than Others?.”
One video has a cartoon Christopher Columbus telling kids, "Being taken as a slave is better than being killed, no? I don't see the problem."
Hey everyone, I’m planning to move from California to Boise soon. I have never been there before, but I have heard great things about it! Do you recommend this move? Also, what kind of job opportunities are available in Boise? and what’s the Rent range for a nice one bedroom apartment? Thank a lot, i appreciate any advice!
Spent a week at Shore Lodge in Idaho, and honestly, it was a huge disappointment. The cleanliness was terrible. Room service trays sat in the hallways overnight, and there were fries just lying on the floor from the night before. My room’s AC unit looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages—it was covered in thick black dust and grime. For the price, I expected much better upkeep and a sense of care that simply wasn't there.
Adding to the disappointment, the pool was closed, which felt like a bait-and-switch since we were looking forward to it. And as if that wasn’t enough, they don’t even offer day passes to the spa. Unless you pay $150 for a massage, there’s no way to access the spa. So I basically spent the week sitting in my room with a view of the spa, but never got to enjoy it. That policy felt ridiculous, especially given what we were already paying.
Weather was snowy every single day, which made hiking difficult. There was barely anything to do at the lodge itself. They didn't have any of the amenities they boasted. No firepits with marshmallows. Hot tubs weren't accessible since they were covered with snow on top of them. The Internet was awful, literally dial up DSL 1 Mbps, making it impossible to watch Netflix. Our room had 2 TVs that didn't work.
Customer service was just plain bad. I let them know ahead of time that my spouse has a disability and would need elevator access, but they were still surprised when I asked for a room with it. At one point, they even suggested she just take the stairs daily, despite her trouble walking! To make it worse, it was our honeymoon, and they did absolutely nothing special to recognize it. No little touches, not even a simple gesture like a towel swan—just a regular room with zero effort.
Even dining was frustrating. At Cutwater, we waited 55 minutes just for avocado toast, and they forgot the cream cheese. Instead of fixing it, they just handed it to us and made us take the sandwich apart ourselves to add it back. Honestly, the whole stay felt like a total waste of time and money.
TL;DR: Shore Lodge was a mess—dirty rooms, no pool, no spa access without pricey massages, awful customer service (especially for my spouse’s disability needs), and a terrible experience at the restaurant. Not worth it.
Edit: I AM NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT WINTER I really enjoyed the snow. I'm just shocked the lodge itself was a letdown while we were trapped inside.
You’d think they could do better than that asshat. He actually is a vet…kinda. 2 years in the Guard. From KBOI TV.
“Another celebration is being held at Kleiner Park with a public ceremony at the Rock of Honor Veterans Memorial in Meridian on Monday at 11 a.m.
The event will feature a keynote address by former U.S. Senator Larry Craig. The ceremony will also include an invocation and benediction, the laying of a wreath, a rifle volley and the playing of Taps. The gathering is expected to last approximately 45 minutes. Attendees are encouraged to bring folding chairs, lawn blankets and umbrellas in case of inclement weather.”
My mom has a friend who is a real estate agent. Way back in the day she made this page to get clients, and invited everyone she knew to join so they could share how amazing Idaho is or whatever. My mom and I fucking hated that and never participated.
Now the page has become just a place for these people to spew hate and garbage about left-wing politics and to rally around their Christian far-right conservatism.
This is a thread I found this morning calling for even native born people to be pushed out of the state.
I just moved here recently and my son and I are living with family. I’m wondering where do I sign up for Idaho Housing or who do I call. A number would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Just saw this article and I'd really like to know what business this Robert Zeko from Eagle owns so I can make sure not to ever give him a dime of my money. Anyone know?
TWIN FALLS, Idaho — Two hunting trips to the South Hills have led to 114 charges, after investigation shows a group of men didn't have tags for Game Management Unit 54's controlled hunt.
13 hunters face 114 charges.
Eagle resident Robert Zeko faces 34 charges — including 14 felonies — including illegal taking of game, out of season game, trespassing to hunt, and wasting of game.
53 felony charges for wildlife crimes like taking out of season, taking over limit, and wasting game for only taking trophy heads and leaving whole in-tact animals behind.
Individuals are all being charged separately, preliminary hearings begin this month.
(Below is the transcript from the broadcast story)
A group of men were identified on a series of hunting trips in 2023 in the South Hills, just north of the Nevada border in southern Twin Falls County.
Investigators say they observed men loading five deer heads into an enclosed trailer but did not see evidence of coolers large enough to store meat from five deer.
In Idaho, hunters are required to salvage a certain portion of meat from each animal, to not do so is considered wasting of game.
Upon contacting the hunters, investigators say they were unable to produce evidence of possessing tags for unit 54, a controlled hunt unit.
But that's not all.
Investigators used surveillance video from local Jackpot businesses, cell phone records, and geodata for photos and messages which helped them identify the location of the crimes. They also received warrants to search phone data and social media accounts, turning up still more photos, videos and messages from previous illegal hunting trips.
Boise business owner Robert Zeko is a central figure in the case, facing 34 charges, with 13 of those being felonies for illegal taking of game, illegal possession, and illegal wasting of game.
Fish and Game Senior Conservation Officer Jim Stirling was not able to speak about this case as it is still under investigation, but he did talk to me about the enforcement of wildlife laws.
"Unit 54 is pretty unique unlike many other places in the state, access is very high," Stirling said. "There's over 800 miles of road and trail so access to sportsman is very easy."
Stirling told me that as a controlled hunt area, game management Unit 54 had only 300 deer tags available this year, making it a coveted hunt. Generally controlled hunts come with the possibility of a better-than-average large game harvest, for people seeking trophy-quality deer.
"Having that as a controlled hunt helps us manage those animals just a little bit better so we can set the number of animals that are potentially going to be taken," Stirling said.
In all, the investigation has led to 114 charges, with 53 of those being felonies.
"We kind of reserve (felonies) for the people that are purposefully out there trying to do it wrong," Stirling said.
Hello, from Hawaii. I recently moved to Portland, OR, and I kind of don't like the education here. It's imbued, and they force you to take many useless classes. (This happens because it's progressive) and downtown is a shit hole. (people shit on the street, open drug use) So, I wanted to ask a couple of questions.
How is the job market for part-time jobs
How is the job market for people in Business marketing
does Idaho have good nature? (I like looking at trees and mountains)
Are the big areas/cities/towns safe & clean?
What is there to do in Idaho?
Oh and last question yall have good asian food?? like Japanese izakayas, American Chinese, and or Korean BBQ?

During a "routine inspection", my friend's landlord bound her dab rig out in the living room. For that reason, she's being evicted. However, she was never given the required 24-hour notice for the inspection. Had she been given that notice, she would obviously have hidden the rig and any other related paraphernalia.
Suppose a cop were to unconstitutionally search your home or vehicle, and they found drugs or paraphernalia during the search. You ultimately couldn't be convicted for any drug offenses because the cops should never have searched your home or vehicle in the first place. So I'm wondering if the same thing applies here.
If the landlord shouldn't have been in the apartment in the first place, can my friend legally be evicted for the drug paraphernalia her landlord found?
Note: I'll start a comment thread where people can talk about whether or not it should be legal. Otherwise, I ask that you only comment if you can affirmatively answer the question one way or the other.
i keep checking my vote status online, and it keeps saying did not vote. has it not been updated, does it only show mail in ballots, or has my vote really not been counted?
What is the biggest, or some of the biggest, and best, gun shows in Idaho. Really looking for a carnival of guns, knives, coins, millitaria etc. Would love to hear about stuff in northern Idaho.
