For those of us who are worried about what Elon Musk has been doing in our government, I wanted to give you all an easy way to contact our Idaho representatives and let them know. There’s a pre-written email detailing a lot of the worrying things Elon Musk has been up to that you can just copy and paste, in my emails I changed the “Dear Members of Congress” to “Dear Russ Fulcher” and “Dear Mike Simpson”. At the bottom remember to change the “Sincerely (your name)” to your name. Thanks all!
P.S. I’m not trying to have a debate or anything, this is just a PSA for those concerned
Looking for local Idaho food challenges
https://search.app/vwn33nBUxwChtQbWA
Okay, I'm curious how people feel about this. I have an idea of how some of you will answer, I think. And if you agree that there should be restrictions on what people can buy, do you really believe it's worth spending 1.1 million dollars on right now?
At least the photo ID part makes logical sense to me. That would keep people from selling or trading their food stamps, but not being able to buy candy? That feels a little unnecessarily controlling. Why not make the unhealthy food taxed out the ass to discourage everyone from being unhealthy, instead of focusing on the working poor and trying to control every aspect of their lives?
What are some things to do in February / march around the nampa area? Preferably with kids ages 1- 10 And maybe some recommendations on great places to stay!
Oh, Idaho ... It's so cute that you want to cut down on welfare costs but don't get that the best way to do that is to have an educated population.
Hey all, I hadn't seen any word of this till like 10 minutes ago, and hadn't seen anything here or in r/boise. I know 2/5 isn't a weekend, and it might be hard to go, but it is my weekend, and I'm gonna try and be there. I hope to see some of you there!
Hey guys, this is my first time visiting Idaho (I’ve had a great time, your state is beautiful) but I’m not familiar with the highways and which ones are best in snowy conditions. My car is AWD and has snow tires but I still want to be safe as possible. I’d appreciate any advice, thanks in advance
I filed on the 27th. I got my processing notice. Does anyone know how long they take to get your refund? On their site it says 7-11 weeks but I’m hoping not lmao.
Single, 33M, into camping, mounting biking, some snowboarding, and hunting. Dont like big cities, but like to occasionaly have a nice dinner. I guess it would be nice to have some ‘city access’ for purposes of dating. Fully remote work.
Would want to buy/build a humble house. Budget 400-500k. No HOA is a must. Would like to be at least on 5 acres but the more the better.
What area gives the best chance of finding all or most of the above?
TLDR: looking for some land with no HOA, access to nature, some access to city amenities. Don’t neeed a fancy house. 400-500k budget. Where would you move?
Going forward, calling people illegals or using a phrase that involves the word to describe them will be removed under rule 1.
This is not meant to stifle discussion. All points of view remain welcome. The issue is that calling people illegals is seriously dehumanizing. Regardless of immigration status, everyone concerned about the current state of affairs is an actual living, breathing, feeling human being who deserves at least this bare-bones amount of dignity.
If your opinion is that the deportations are the right thing to do, that's fine. We're not going to stop you from saying it. Just call them what they really are: people.
Going forward, we're going to limit discussions about ICE and the ongoing mass deportations to this single megathread. Allowing multiple threads, all of which are magnets for comments that break the rules, clearly didn't work. As a result, we'll now be removing other related threads and directing conversation here.
Side note: if the only thing you have to say is "hell yeah, get them gone" or "fuck ICE," your comment will be removed as a violation of rule 1. Comments in this megathread must actually contribute to or start an ongoing discussion.
Hello, I drove through Idaho to Montana about 4 years ago. We stopped to camp at what I remember being called, “Idaho Falls Campground”. It was really nice, surrounded by trees, we camped along side a river where people passed by on their giant donut floaties.
Now I would like to go back but I just can’t find it on the internet. I feel like I’ve looked everywhere and it just doesn’t pop up. Does anyone know where I camped? Would really appreciate it if anyone can help, it was my favorite stop.
Hi all,
Senator Ali Rabe here! There has already been some discussion on this sub about a bill (S1042) that would limit rental application fees. The bill is moving forward and will soon have a hearing.
Unfortunately, it has been getting some pushback from a small handful of people because they think limiting how much landlords can charge for rental applications is “government overreach”. Meanwhile, renters are getting gouged by excessive and unnecessary fees just to apply for housing.
I need your help! Please consider learning about the bill and emailing committee members to encourage them to vote for this bill.
**What does this bill do?**✅ Limits landlords to charging application fees for only two tenants at a time✅ Requires fees to be directly tied to actual costs (like background checks)✅ Stops property managers from profiting off of renters. You can read the full bill here: https://legislature.idaho.gov/wp-content/uploads/sessioninfo/2025/legislation/S1042.pdf
This is common sense reform to protect renters from predatory fees, but some Senators are siding with corporations that exploit Idahoans who are in need of homes. Let them know they should vote YES on Senate Bill 1042!
📧 Email these senators and tell them to support the bill in their committee: TLakey@senate.idaho.gov, bshippy@senate.idaho.gov, dricks@senate.idaho.gov, DForeman@senate.idaho.gov, DLent@senate.idaho.gov, BLenney@senate.idaho.gov, jkeyser@senate.idaho.gov, mwintrow@senate.idaho.gov, jruchti@senate.idaho.gov
📝 What to say? Please write “Support Senate Bill 1042” or some variation in the subject line, and write two or more sentences about why you support the bill. Make your language personal, and tell stories about how you have seen application fees not working for tenants. Personal stories are very much recommended! In the email, you do not need to note your district or city but please note how long you have lived in Idaho.
Here also is some language to get you started: "Dear Senators, I’m asking you to support Senate Bill 1042, which will limit the amount of rental application fees tenants have to pay when looking for a rental. Renters should not be exploited with excessive charges just for the chance to get into a home. This bill ensures fairness and transparency in the rental market without undue and burdensome regulations. Property managers and landlords who are already operating above board will not need to change the way they do business with this bill, but it will encourage bad actors to stop exploiting regular Idahoans with excessive fees. Please vote YES on S 1042 and stand with everyday working Idahoans. Sincerely, [Your Name]"

I apologize if this isn’t with the theme, but I’m looking to start cutting my own firewood next year.
Does anyone know of an area anywhere from St. Anthony and northeast with a decent amount of dead standing/fallen trees?
I’ve tried to pay attention during our adventures this fall and winter, but haven’t seen anywhere that wasn’t just all live timber.
I'm looking to move to Boise area to rent and eventually buy property for horses. Does anyone know of any active Facebook groups for the area to tap into? Rental properties that have room for horses don't tend to pop up on Zillow etc. Also curious about the drive to Emmett and if it gets bad in the winter or full of traffic. I'd like to be within 30 minutes to Boise, so any advice for nearby towns would be much appreciated. Thanks!
