First time visitors to Idaho falls playing an acoustic duo setup for the holiday. Come say hello and have a pint 7-10!
Looking for input on the local hospitals and the culture of healthcare in IF. May be relocating from Texas!
anyone know what happened to the chip cookies in ammon?
I'm 32 and am here for Halloween for the first time with no plans and no friends here. What is everyone up to this Halloween?
Is it just me that gags every time I drive by this place. WHAT is that smell?!?! I understand it’s a meat packing plant? I ain’t NEVER smelled meat like that. What on earth is going on over there????
Can you fish right in town next to town? If so, is the fishing any good?
Just moved to Idaho Falls. People are generally nice, but I have noticed a reluctance to smile back, when you smile at them. I have lived all over the country and never encountered that before, what’s the deal?
We are a European couple (>35 yrs old) looking for friends!
We are not religious, we enjoy hiking, going out for dinner or coffee, and inviting friends over for drinks/eat. We have two children (0-3).
I know this question comes up often. And as people suggest, we’ve tried making friends through school, Facebook, the library, and even INL (our peers are locals and Mormons). Nothing against Mormons, but after a couple of times meeting them, we both realize we don’t fit in.
So, we haven’t had much success with friendships since we arrived 3 years ago.
If anyone can relate, please reach out! :)
We need to have two bathtubs re-glazed and we wanted to use someone local. Any suggestions?
Does anyone know why? Or when this happened? I was there about a month ago, ik their food isn't michelin star level but I still enjoyed it.
I hear so many folks in this region claim they are "Libertarian", yet they have principally anti-Libertarian stances. Being Pro-Life can technically be argued as going either way depending on what is seen as personhood and therefore infringement, but these "Libertarians" often are:
-pro book bans
-anti-immigration (despite fiscal and anti-government being principal incentives to be a net positive according to Libertarianism)
-pro-drug enforcement (again less market more govt)
-pro-corporate protectionism and regulatory capture
So maybe you've been sitting in the GOP resigned to believing you have to hold your nose so you can't vote along all things you want. We all know a 3rd party vote is a "nonserious vote" outside of small scope elected offices.
Ranked Choice voting is a boon for minor parties. Your vote isn't just "out", and the data gleaned from voting patterns becomes more acute, political machines now have more to observe and vie for. Suddenly, your bloc based on issues starts to stand out more, and even the major parties have to perk their ears as to who, or what, gave them runoff votes. No longer can they just settle on a comfortable pick based on marketability and watered-down appeal to most-common constituent umbrellas, they have to start taking in new flavors.
So put your money where your mouth is. Either you're truly a believer of classic Keynesian/Adam Smith economics, or just admit you're a Republican who is trying to seem more moderate/palatable depending on who you talk to.

I have old furniture, cookware, bags, personal belongings which are not good enough to be donated. Where can I donate them? I have a trailer size stuff that I'm planning to dispose off.
We live in Ammon off 17th down by the Papa Murphy's. Grew up in and moved from the desert. I have seen coyotes out at the lab once but I'm wondered does anyone see coyotes in town in this area much? Should we be worried about foxes or coyotes when letting the dogs out to pee? We're already cautious with them but just wondering how much of a threat there is here. Thanks
i was reading all about this guy, ran a deputy down. how is he still in law enforcement with bonneville county?

Just looking for any advice of where you like to go when pregnant or where to avoid. I just found out a little while ago I am pregnant with my first baby. Will take any advice! I also don’t have any insurance, but I can pay out-of-pocket until I figure it out, but I’ll take any advice about that also on how to go about applying and what not. I think open enrollment is coming up anyways, right? Or do I have other options?
Are there second chance apartments?? My husband has an eviction on his record from almost 5 years ago and it’s hindering us from getting into the newer apartments and on the other hand the other apartments are income restricted. Just trying to find something that will work with us but also not cost an arm and a leg.
We are moving back to IF mid Nov.
Just accepted a job at one of the labs, so we'll me moving soon. Originally from Boise, but ive been in Utah for a while, so I think we know what to expect culture-wise. I'm sure our realtor will be able to answer all of this, but I'm just hoping to see what everyone else thinks.
We know the commute will be terrible, but we noticed Blackfoot is a shorter drive and there are 2 main roads to get to work. Are the winter conditions better one one of those roads, or are they maintained about the same?
Any areas to avoid? Our kids will start school in a few years, and we're also open to living in a very small town. But we would need an area with good internet since I'm allowed to work from home a few days a week.
We went through a local mortgage broker for our current house and had a really good experience, so we're looking for another local place so we're open to suggestions.
Besides the river and mall, what are some good, long walking paths around town?
Also looking for some staircases open to the public. I’m not sure if the ones at IF HS are open to the public or not outside of school hours.
Location doesn’t matter.
I’m looking for anyone that remembers the Smitty’s Pancake & Steak house menu from the late 90’s-early 2000’s. I’m looking for a sandwich they use to have. I believe if was a beef based sandwich with Russian in the name. Any help appreciated!
I’ve never hired cleaners before so wasn’t sure if this was a standard thing they can help with, I’m allergic to mold and the used washer I just got has mildew in it. Are there any cleaning services in the area who can help with that?
