What’s the end goal

Is the end goal for this league trying to compete with what the European leagues doing but to a smaller scale? I also wonder why they’re not scheduling it right after the Super Bowl if they did a short season right after the Super Bowl it could act as a true feeder league to the ufl

2025 IFA Schedule Release Megathread

Since the league has now released the majority of the schedule information, I have pieced together what the full schedule looks like based on what's been made available.

##Season Structure

The season will kickoff on May 31, 2025, and the regular season will end on August 2, 2025. Each team will play 8 games in the regular season, 4 at home and 4 away. The regular season will run 10 weeks, and every team will get at least 1 bye week (the Alabama Beavers and the Tampa Tornadoes will get 2 bye weeks). There will be 2 semi-final playoff games at the end of the regular season (the top two ranked teams in each division will qualify for the playoffs), and an IFA Championship game to end the postseason.

Further details are still to be released.

Games will all be played on Saturday nights (either a 6 pm or 7 pm start).

Note: All times are assumed to be as per the local time zone of the game location. Dallas Pioneros stadium is supposedly De Soto High School but the official schedule information thus far lists this as "To Be Determined". There is no news yet on where the Ohio Valley Ironmen will play either. All game times not yet set are assumed to be either at 6 pm or 7 pm local time.

I will update this thread and the pinned information megathread when more information is released.

EDIT: Please note, the Tampa Tornadoes schedule and the Baltimore Lightning schedule contradict each other on the listing for July 26th. Baltimore lists this as a home game in Baltimore, and Tampa lists this as a home game in Tampa. I'm presuming the Tampa schedule is correct otherwise Baltimore gets 5 home games and Tampa only gets 3. Will continue updating as more info is released.

No announcement yet on where the IFA Championship game will be held.

Are the rosters set or qbs known yet?

I was wondering if there’s a list of players signed anywhere, I’m interested in the player type that this league will bring in. I assume it’ll mostly be really small school guys and current arena league players

####IFA Championship

DateAway vs HomeTimeStadium

The 7 teams in the IFA will be divided into two divisions. We do not yet know what the division names or team alignments will be. It is presumed the 2nd place team in each division will travel to the 1st place team's home stadium for the semi-final round on August 9th. No announcement yet on where the IFA Championship game will be held.

##Players

Each team will carry a 53-man roster (40 active on game day) and seven players on the practice squad, with a maximum of 20 American players (similar to the Canadian Football League), with a goal of attracting international players. The players will be selected after participating in IFA-organized combine tryouts. Each team must carry two quarterbacks on the active roster and one on the practice squad. Players with dual citizenship (United States + 1 country) may be submitted against either the 20 American player cap or the 33 International player cap (per team). For the 2025 season, each team will carry 53 man roster with a minimum of 5 international players.

###Compensation

Salaries were first reported as "similar" to the ELF, XFL, and USFL. The league later announced that "player pay will be determined per team, with league standards are $400–$1500 per game," but the league would later state that all players will get paid $400 per game, while only active QB's making $1500 per game. During training camp the players will make $100 per-week, plus room and board.

##Will games be televised?

In September they announced that league games will be available in the US through Roku an Tubi. In January 2024 the IFA announced they reached broadcast agreement with Right Now TV for over-the-air and streaming broadcasts.

More information is to be released.

##League Personnel

Ownership:

  • Jason Bradly Adams via Collective Entertainment Group, LLC

Commissioner:

  • Juan Manuel Bladé Cavazos

##What is the long-term outlook for the IFA?

The IFA's aim is to "deliver the highest level of American football," and "build a unified and solid American football ecosystem in Mexico," while the league mission statement reads: "The International Football Alliance mission is bridging the gap in international professional football by delivering the highest level of American Football within the locations of Mexico and the United States, implementing NFL based standard rules of play, and creating an international alliance. Together with our team ownership, teams, players, and fans, we will work to build a unified and solid football ecosystem to grow American football in Mexico".

The league intends for all teams to have their own ownership groups, and continue to expand into Mexico and select US cities.

##Anticipated Announcements

Aside from the announcement of the full schedule, more details are expected to be released on all of the coaching staffs, player rosters, broadcasting rights, the official IFA Draft Rules and invites, etc.

Note: We will update this thread as more information is released.
