I’ve started keeping a list of businesses that support(ed) the current administration in the Carlisle area. (I should have started this when everyone still had their campaign signs up, it would have been much easier).
I would love to crowd-source more to add to the list, so if you know of some please add them in the comments.
So far: -NL Minich & Sons
Thanks!
Been living here since July. One bedroom apartment, one floor, super small. We are set at 72 (2 degrees warmer than I’d like it to be)…. Our UGI bill is $254 this month. Maybe I’m in denial. Seems insane.
Our water bill for the quarter was also almost $400. I cannot be THAT high maintenance
Anyone know campgrounds or rv parks that currently have monthly/seasonal sites? Our current campground has become a nightmare and we're looking to relocate asap. Everywhere we've called around either hasnt called back or doesn't have openings. Ideally less than $800/month but a little bit flexible
Does the C bus to Harrisburg usually run late, on time, or early in your experience(s)?
Hi! Having recently moved to the Carlisle area, while not attending the local public high school or schools in the area, I have found it hard to find connections with kids my age.
As a teenager, I would love to have friends to hang out with and explore the area with, but unfortunately that hasn't been possible due to the lack of company.
I am curious for any tips on how to make friends here as a teenager that doesn't attend school in the area. Any advice is appreciated.
I have considered attending Carlisle High School's sporting events, but I am scared people will be judgmental because I do not attend the high school.

(23M) Moved to Carlisle for work a couple months back and it looks like I’ll be staying here for a bit. I go to DC often to see my college friends but it would be nice to meet some young people around to hang or get a drink with. Interested in tons of things including hiking, reading, live music and sports. Any solid recommendations? Very open minded.
Merry Christmas, y’all. Girlfriend and I saw tons of fire trucks as well as a burning building tonight & just wanted to know if anyone had any info about if. Thanks. Here’s an article:
I'm bored to death in Mechanicsburg and have been living here for 4 years, nothing to do. I rarely venture out to Carisle but it is a cool little town. Anything to do out there?
I’m not a dickinson student and dont have a printer. Are there any spots downtown where I can print stuff?
Heyo, everyone!
I wanted to share that I've stepped in to help moderate r/Carlisle. I noticed it might need a little more attention to keep our community healthy and maintain our presence on Reddit. Luckily, u/th3jezter and the u/CarlisleMods team welcomed me aboard!
On my first day, I made some small updates that you might have seen:
Updated the banner on Reddit mobile and New Reddit, which should now be a clearer representation of Carlisle, PA, USA!
Revised the subreddit description to better highlight our location, and I added this information to the submission page. Our sister-city in UK had some good posts here, but many of them were more an annoyance.
Post flair was re-enabled and additional flairs were added/altered. Mods may re-flair posts as necessary. In the future, this will make "filter by flair" much easier to find older content faster
Some very basic "rules" were added; all content on sidebar mirrored to both Old and New Reddit
As a mod on a larger subreddit, I believe in being open about our actions. The rules will allow us to remove comments or posts with clear explanations. I really dislike having to remove content unless absolutely necessary according to Reddit's Content Policy, so I hope these rules help us moderate fairly and transparently rather than restrict free expression. We all have the right to disagree, as long as we do it respectfully.
I've been busy working through a backlog of posts and comments that needed moderation, including some from the spam folder, and I think we’re finally back to a clean slate.
Looking ahead, I would like to see a few more small changes:
User flair? Maybe flair by neighborhood or area, or things like Dickinson College or Carlisle Barracks for our shorter term residents
Monthly event threads to keep useful info about upcoming events in the area sticked to the top of the subreddit
"Best Of" round-ups that will be referenced permanently in the wiki/sidebar: "Best Bar in Carlisle" or "Best Pizza in Carlisle" etc.
I'm looking forward to keeping things active here and we'd appreciate any and all feedback, now or in the future.
Is there anything you'd like to see changed? Let us know in the comments!
Thanks y'all and Happy Holidays!
Hello, fellow Pennie patron. Would you be kind enough share which plan is working out for you (or at least the provider and if it’s an HMO, EPO, or PPO)? Does it get you seen at the UPMC Carlisle?
I’m so confused for the second year in a row. Last year I was advised by a kindly navigator that an EPO might be the way to go, but nobody I called accepted the plans.
In any case, if you’ve got an insurance plan that works it would really be wonderful to hear about it and I’d be very grateful. Thank you so much!
Is W Trindle rd a really busy road? Is it worth looking at a house along it? For someone who grew up in a quieter, rural area, would it be too noisy/too busy to live next to? What are the downsides listed out for me here?
The house I'm looking at is gorgeous, really interested in walking through it. But just want to figure out how much of a deal breaker this may be for someone looking to still live in semi rural area
Do any churches around here sell oplatky? I know a lot of Slovak and Polish churches in NEPA do.
Here’s the flyer for the show in Greencastle on the 17th!
Can someone set me on the right path?
Is there one main bus option or several?
What would you estimate the cost of this, roundtrip?
Thanks!
Oh, also, how do you pay,in advance or at pickup? Cash?
If you live alone, what are your monthly costs for water, sewage, trash, electric, and/or gas in downtown Carlisle? I am coming from Middletown, who has privatized their water and electric and it is OUTRAGEOUS. I am trying to see how much I can expect from Carlisle in pricing.
Please feel free to share how much you pay for groceries too. I’ve never lived alone, only with others, so I’m trying to gauge it. Thanks 😊
I have a large group (~100) for which I am trying to order sandwiches, wraps, etc.
Does anyone have experience with the party platters at Weis (on High) and Giant (on Spring Garden)? What is better?
I am more concerned about taste vs price.
Tonight was the BOC interviews for the vacant council seat. It was a a strong showing of town applicants (5) and a good crowd of locals there to witness! All good candidates, and ended with a tie vote - TBD in the next month or so.
Aside from the candidates and their qualifications, there was a lot of discussion around what issues Carlisle residents are facing in the near to long term, and what should be done about them. To name a few that got brought up tonight:
How do others view the issues facing Carlisle and what do you think should be on the Boroughs mind?
Hi I met Damien and Sara at a music festival recently, but didn't get to exchange info. Does anyone know this couple? They are from the Carlisle area.
Hi my name is Aiden and I work st the walnut bottom mcdonalds and was wondering if anyone had any spare rooms or anything available I get paid next week so I'll pay rent
Hi - I've lived in Carlisle for a little over five years now, but I moved right before Covid, so I never had much of an opportunity to make lasting friendships. One of my favorite things to do is play Dungeons and Dragons (5e, particularly), and I was wondering if the area has any in-person places I can go, or if there are any online groups for the area where I can look into finding a group.
Where do you guys recommend we go for my daughter's ear piercings?
