I'm looking for the easiest way to add an outline for example a black outline, to my current selection in Gimp.
I've found an easy way in Photopea but would prefer to keep working in Gimp I'm quite new to it and all I know is self taught so bear with me :)
Currently the size slider from tool options for brushes and other tools goes from 1px all the way up to 1000px, however I mostly work in the range from 1px to 100px. Is there a way to change how large that bar is? Selecting via bar is preferable to me than typing it in every time I want to change, and using mousewheel doesn't really help all that much as it changes the value by .01 instead of 1.
Im looking for the equivalent of the Photoshop Shape and Pen tools in Gimp3. (Paths tool only makes paths, not editable shapes)
For prototyping I mostly just need flat colored shapes with automatic outlines that I can edit afterwards without having to redraw them.
Is there anything similar to these:
i found a tutorial on a steam page looks pretty easy but it's using photoshop can anyone help me how would i convert to a normal map texture in gimp? i tried using the same method as in the picture but it doesnt work the same i guess. this is what im trying to do in gimp
this is the texture im trying to convert to
pretty excited for gimp 3.0 to release, but I cant get pen pressure to work in it even though i've had it work flawlessly in the previose versions of gimp.
Gimp knows that the tablet is connected
I also have dynamics enabled as well as its set to pressure size.
My tablet works fine in krita as well, so if anyone else knows any other settings i can try. Or that you have had this issue as well help would be appreciated
I'm writing a paper on gimp and I really appreciate your input :)
I am trying to make isometric pixel art using gimp in a 32x16 grid. Is there any advice/hacks/setup that makes it easier to make isometric pixel art in gimp?
Hi guys,
I am wanting to put a picture onto a canvas. The canvas is 50cm width x 100cm length.
Can anyone show me how to edit this, with good resolution, to be able to print to canvas?
I am using vista print for the canvas art.
Thanks
When adding text, how do I make the outline have a shadow-like effect like this?
So I've been using gimp for a while, and I like using alot of layers for drawings, and today somethin happened for the first time, when I try and draw on any layer that isn't background, the brush becomes incredibly pixilated is there any fix for this?
i animate on CSP and really like gimp pencil's properties.
I find it annoying to have to constantly extend the layer boundary.
Gimp 3 has become my new favourite drawing app on Linux. Since I can still use .abr photoshop brushes and create my own gimp brushes Im very happy. The 3d transform tools are very responsive. The filter fx non destructive workflow is amazing and selection and moving of several layers now works as old photoshop. Gimp really is becoming more pro, I don't miss photoshop anymore. Two thumbs up.
I never had a crash in Gimp 3 rc1 even if I was editing all over the place.
OS used: Linux mint. I hope win users are having Gimp as stable.
Positives: Fast app start. Easy fast workflow once set up. Seems very stable.
Negatives: Text was cut off in half on filter sliders. Not enough vertical space or text was too large?
Someone mentioned fx filter doesnt scale when layer is up scaled?
Is there a way to make it where when you’re drawing on this rectangle for example the drawing stays inside the object? So if I draw it’ll stay within the rectangle instead of having to worry about staying inside of the border and the paintbrush not going outside of it. Thank you!
I have a great photo of my wife and I in Maui but she's not happy about her double chin. How can I help with that? I tried to lookup some how toos on YouTube but there's nothing out there for Gimp. Please assist
I've used both. I kinda wanna know whether people really prefer one over the other
I've looked at tutorials on Youtube and when I follow those guides to the best of my abilities (the tutorials are a few versions old) the letters just cross over itself and look warped with big chunks of each letter missing. Does the font I choose have anything to do with it? Are some fonts better for this or anything like that?
I want to make a circular profile image with my channel name along the border.
I know this is going to be a revisiting of the subject but...
Has anyone designed a good UX for this yet? I've been trying to learn to love GIMP but the interface is prohibitively counter-intuitive and drifts far away from DMMT and KISS.
Is anyone working on this because it's a deal breaker every time I try to like it.
Why doesn't this subreddit have a profile photo? If you think it should have one, do you have any suggestions?
I'm not sure what it's called but the area to adjust the various tools (see photo) moved from directly below my tool box (which is on the left side of the screen) to the right side of the screen. I'd like to move it back to the left side but don't know how. to be more specific, The area I'm speaking of has things like brush size, aspect ratio, angle, etc. This is how to scale the tool you're using. I hope this is not too confusing.
With the release of GIMP 3 RC1 the GEGL plug-ins are not accessible from script-fu anymore.
(script-fu:47540): scriptfu-WARNING **: 10:37:13.589: While executing script-fu-mcbluna-test: Error: eval: unbound variable: plug-in-colortoalpha
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/12279
So I'd like to move from my script-fu scripts to python3. I've read this tutorial https://testing.docs.gimp.org/2.99/en/gimp-using-python-plug-in-tutorial.html, but still have no clue how, it works.
Please point me in the right direction, how to migrate this script-fu to python3

I'd like to make a video, and in it, there would be a song that would last about 7 minutes. Over the duration, I want a picture to fade completely black by the end of the song.
Is this achievable using GIMP or how can I do this?
