Hey there! My name is Alyssa and I’m an engagement reporter with ProPublica. You may have heard from me or one of my colleagues asking for your input on a project we’re working on about industrial facilities and the toxic air pollution they release into the air. Now, we’re writing to share the story that 1,000+ people’s input helped shape: https://propub.li/homeishotspot
We hope you read it and, if it resonates with you, that you share it across social platforms, with family and friends, as well as with your elected officials. Thanks for helping us do this work!
Hi there! I’m working with ProPublica, a nonprofit investigative newsroom that just published a map visualizing hotspots of cancer-causing pollution that spotlighted parts of North Carolina, including communities in Burke County. I'm writing to alert you all of this by sharing the map (propublica.org/toxmap), and asking for your help investigating. If you have any experiences with industrial pollution or questions about this work, our reporters are eager to hear from you. Visit propublica.org/tips/pollution to share. Thanks for your time!
Anyone heard about a movie being filmed in the area?
Out of Asheville NC this morning 1/10/2020:
"Please be advised, there is a spike happening in central/downtown Asheville which began yesterday and continues today. Individuals are consistently reporting using meth and not knowing it was tainted. Due to the volume of overdoses in such a short time, I am sending this out to those who can get to participants the fastest on the weekend. A wider alert may go out on Monday should the spike continue.
Thank you for all each of you do to save lives."

Ok, so I’m not sure if I’m allowed to post this but I’m asking for help compiling information on the Brown Mountain Lights. I just created r/BrownMountainLights as a place to consolidate any and all experiences, theories, and documentation regarding this relatively unknown phenomenon. If anyone has anything to add or say concerning the Brown Mountain Lights it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
