Lived in Boone a long time and the county is usually great about salting the roads. These last two (relatively small) snows, the roads haven't been salted and have been treacherous. Does anyone have any insider information on why they aren't being cleared and salted?
I'm trying to just get some creativity out and if something dope happens- even better.
About me: Play piano/keys and currently learning violin but very every beginner. Can sing and harmonize. My musical style and loves are more on the metal/experimental side. Think Tori Amos meets Acid Bath who briefly had a really annoying Tool obsession.
I honestly am just trying to find other women to connect with and so even if you just want to chill and don't play music at all, still feel free to reach out.
I'm 28 and would probably get along with someone over 21 for sure. Have a basement we can jam in. Hmu!!!!
Hey all. We are here from Ohio staying in Zionville.
Trip was planned 8 months ago & rental place said come. So. Here we are.
I've had mixed feelings since the devastating floods.
2 dogs with us. Both fairly well behaved at home. But on vacation they are bit nervous. They've travelled with us before but this trip they are a bit anxious.
Are there any drop in doggy day care services in the area for an hour or 2?
We try to do our yearly getaway to Boone or Asheville every winter with the kids but after Helene I heard it is just a complete cluster trying to get up there Is this true? Word is the main route up there is still completely closed down
Hi everyone! I am from South Florida & I will be visiting my parents in Boone for Christmas. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good used bookstore or a thrift store that has a good selection of books that I could stop in to get some books while I’m there? I would prefer if it’s in Boone/Blowing Rock. Thanks in advance!
My wife has to work Friday and Saturday, so no travel plans for us. It's just the two of us and she doesn't want me to waste my time cooking a traditional Thanksgiving meal. So, what restaurants are going to be opened on Thanksgiving? It would be better if you could be home with your family, but if you have to work, I'm willing to come in and eat.
Hi! Me and my bf were thinkin about going uo to Boone for his birthday today and checking out the blue ridge parkway, however I read recently that there's some closures due to helene + winter weather. I keep seeing conflicting things online about what’s open and not .. Does anyone know what sections are open if any? thx :)
I know many waterfalls around the Boone area are inaccessible now thanks to the hurricane. I am wondering if anyone knows which ones ARE possible to get to? I am visiting the area from Raleigh and really want to see some waterfalls, but also don’t want to waste my time trying to get to one’s that are closed off
Looking for affordable housing (preferably one with 2bedrooms) that is lower than 1k does anyone have any recommendations to look?
Jake the Raven will be live at Lost Province Brewing Co. On November 30! Special guest Ellie K will be debuting her newest singles!
Hi, looking for suggestions for a post-graduation ceremony brunch/lunch (our graduate will be participating in the Saturday morning commencement ceremony in December) in the Boone or Blowing Rock area. We want somewhere at least a little nice that’s open around lunchtime. I’m seeing several places in Blowing Rock that don’t open until 4 or 5 unfortunately.
Where would be the best place to take a cat for neutering/regular vet services? Boone is preferred but if someone has an option that was a better (and more affordable) experience, please let me know!
Hello everyone I’m seriously considering a career shift and am looking to start a new service based business in the local area. I’m interested in hearing from local residents about what services they think the local community needs. I have considered starting a window cleaning, gutter cleaning, yard work business but I’m wondering if there’s already enough of those guys here or not? Have you ever said something along the lines of “You know what business would do really good here, …?” Also just a one man operation starting out. I’m physically capable of working hard and getting my hands dirty. Thank you in advance!
I will be in Boone on Sunday. Any new restaurants you would recommend???
Looking for a place to buy a pumpkin for Thanksgiving. Anyone know where I can find one? Looking for one that’s good to eat, not just decorative.
Uber and Lyft are not responsive. How do I get a ride around here? Thank you. In town visiting
Where in the hell can I find Pokémon packs? Ori’s is out, Dragon’s Den is out, Walgreens and CVS are dryyyyy. Man just wanna open some packs :((
Hey. There was a car accident yesterday evening near the intersection of NC-105 and Wilson Drive around 7:15pm.
Looking to see if anyone was near the area and witnessed the accident?
Look, I’ve never been into paranormal/witchy stuff— I don’t charge crystals in the moonlight or burn sage or decide if someone is boyfriend material based on an astrological profile. But a friend a I were talking about our experiences living in Boone, NC, and we eventually both came to the conclusion that the town is cursed. I heard people say this while I lived there—that there were “strong, dark forces” in Boone—but I always shrugged it off. Those “strong, dark forces” were probably just untreated mental illness in majority of the population, I thought. But now that I’m out and can reflect on it a bit more objectively, there’s definitely something sort of unexplainable about Boone.
I could go more in-depth about my observations/personal experiences in Boone that have led me to this loose, somewhat silly-sounding conclusion, but I doubt anyone would be interested in reading that chaotic novel.
So, I just want to hear input from others on this. Do you think Boone, NC, is cursed?

Anyone know of a good spot to get fresh corn tortillas?
so I know the first instinct is to not visit obviously, considering the situation, but I also know yall kind of depend on business from travelers/tourists from what I've been told. We normally visit a couple times towards the end of the year (between November and December). Is everything "back up and normal" for the most part or should we avoid this year. Anything to know if we do plan on visiting? We normally stay around the Boone/blowing rock areas and visit a few trails near there.
Hello all. I’m visiting Boone and will be there for New Year Eve. Any recommendations for restaurants to enjoy a nice dinner? Thank you
Does anyone know of places to go for turkey day? Besides Daniel Boone Inn (not even sure if they're open, but wife has to have gluten-free, so I don't think they can accommodate).
Suggestions?
I was thinking the Omni Grove park in or somewhere around Boone? Anyone have any opinions about this?
Years ago (at least 10, because that’s when I was in grad school) Lost Province had a breakfast pizza. All I remember is that it had two eggs cracked on top and baked in the oven. They don’t serve it anymore, so I can’t find it on their menu, but I was trying to tell my husband about it earlier and couldn’t remember anything beyond the eggs. Anyone remember what I’m talking about and what was on it?
