Shipping country of origin

Hello evrybody. I am trying to figure out how the shipping method on etsy works. I'am from Croatia and am making t-shirts to be sold on etsy. When being presented with country of origin i have put the real country that prints my shirts which is located in Czech Republic because it is the closest to me and cheapest. I do not know is this correct thing to do, is it good for the final customer and in the end for me.

Problems with the item I received...

I found....pen marks. On a custom dress I ordered. Would it be better to reach out to the seller directly and ask what these marks are so I have a better idea how to wash them off (they are NOT coming off. I've already tried baking soda, soap powder, bar soap, bleach pen and so on) or just leave a review and see if they reach out? The dress also doesn't fit very well. I feel like I should get a partial refund for the marks. The dress measurements being off here and there could still be chalked up to me not measuring myself very well.

edit: ok, I'm seeing the FAQ but I'm not sure if pen marks is considered damage or defective... I'm sorry, this is my first time ordering anything on etsy and I just feel in over my head.

Bought and received item, then suddenly refunded and shop is closed?

About a month ago I ordered one of those "blind date with a book" listings. I found one I was interested in and contacted the seller to ask if I could get replace a regular book with a mystery graphic novel or comic, and the seller agreed. I placed my order, added those specifications, and patiently waited for my package. It took a while and I contacted the seller again just to make sure it was on its way, in which they kindly confirmed. Eventually, I receive my package, adore what I received, and leave a review with photos attached.

Some weeks after I received my package, I receive an email about Etsy sending me a refund for that purchase. I was confused as I happily left a review and definitely paid for it before I received it.

This was the message Etsy sent through email.

"This order was canceled and refunded as we detected that it may not have been authorized by you. These measures are in place to protect you, other members, and the integrity of our marketplace."

I tried contacting Etsy but it's required that you specify an order for a help request and I couldn't choose that order because it's canceled.

Afterwards, I check my dms with the seller to find that the entire shop is closed down. I'm confused. Was my information stolen or something? What could have caused this occurrence?

The seller is Maggie's bookshop

Fake Tracking Number? Lost Order? Scam?

I ordered birthday cards for a couple family members' upcoming birthdays from two different Etsy shops. Both shops had great reviews and I did see that the customers got their item via photos in their reviews.

I live in the US and the sellers are in the US as well.

The tracking only works on Etsy, not on the USPS website. One says the card has been on the opposite side of the country since the beginning of the week, the other in pre-transit, but both have shipped. Here's the problem, neither of my orders have arrived and I placed the orders a week ago and they were shipped a week ago.

I have the option to review one of the items, but how can I review something that isn't here? The other is still god knows where.

To clarify some things

  1. I did not get my address wrong, I triple check I got it right before placing orders. I know it cannot be that

  2. I do not know if the post office possibly lost it, because I've been told by family I cannot file a claim with the post office if there is no valid tracking number or no clue if it's even coming/arrived. So no, I have not gone that route yet.

  3. Both orders are coming from the US, so it's nothing international

  4. Friends are telling me to contact the sellers and say my orders have gone missing, but I have no clue if they are actually missing. So, I don't know what to tell them. If anyone has any advice for this part, please let me know

As a buyer, where to get my digital art POD files printed?

I'm looking at some great (original) artwork on Etsy that I'd like to get printed and framed. I'm trying to find an online printer who can make quality prints. What site do you recommend?

Etsy Scam for sellers

Hi everyone, I just wanted to get on here and warn Etsy sellers of a scam I just experienced. I was in my shop updating listings when I saw I had a message. The message said that I had to authentic a listing that I just published, I thought this was strange at first, I've been on Etsy for over 3 years and took a 6 month break and only recently returned as has changed a lot and I thought this could have been their new change too. I than thought this was legit. The picture that was send was of my brand new listing which was not even 5 minutes activated. And my shop logo and name was included, it looked legit. Anyways I clicked on authentication and it opens out of the app into Etsy, they wanted to authenticate my bank info, silly I put my card info in and got a pop up message from my bank and said approve transaction of £199, thank god somehow it didn't go through and even trying again it didn't go through. All this happened while still speaking via a chat pop up saying Etsy support. I was totally clueless. Till it clicked that this could be a scam. I open Etsy again and clicked on the message name and it opened into an Etsy buyer account liking stuff animals, alarm bells went off in my head and I cancelled my card asap. I feel so stupid. My shop was a new shop with zero sales, so they are targeting new sellers who may not know how Etsy works and opperates. Please be careful.

Label presets showing under internal, can't move them, can't use them

I've always ran into a lot of issues with label presets and just found out that my new label presets are showing up under international packages. I definitely created them under a domestic order and saved it there. I don't know how to move them to domestic and it's really annoying to have to enter in the information every time.

Does anyone know how to update these presets too? If I delete my existing one and remake it, it will show up under internal...

New Listings vs. single Listings with variants

Hello Etsy sellers,

It's been 3 weeks since I launched my shop and I've already made my first sale, which makes me really confident that I haven't completely messed it up.

However, I'm only getting one to two views a day, which I was hoping to improve with better Etsy SEO, more listings and better thumbnails.

I started my shop with 16 products and I'm currently up to 56.

Competitors in my niche often only have 1 or 2 listings and you can choose personalisation, size and colour in this listing. The customer has to enter all this information in the personalization field which seams not really convenient for me.

I have created several listings for example for different sizes and designs.

Now my question is: should I also think, as my competitors also in "less" listings and try to optimise them until I reach number 1 for a keyword, or should I make 100 listings (as it is suggested by the etsy consultant on yt)?

And if the answer is less listings what tweaks can do you make to gain traffic ?

I am very curious about your experience and you tipps

Many Thanks in advance.

Downloading reviews not working

Hello!

I'm currently working on building my own shopify store as an addition and I'm trying to download my reviews from Etsy under the "Download data" section, but everytime I click the download your reviews button I just get a message saying "Uh oh! A stitch has gone awry. Please try again later."

Does this happen to anyone else too and is there a solution for it? I know this button worked earlier as I've once downloaded them.

Thanks

No sure what to do

I bought a T-shirt from a seller in Mexico, but I’m just not happy with it. After just one wash the print is slightly beginning to peel, just a little. But I have a feeling that’s it’s not gonna last long. It’s also a size S, but is extremely small. It fits like an XS.

I paid over €50,- in total for this T-shirt along with shipping and was also charged twice for taxes (not the sellers fault) and I’m just not happy with it.

Now personally, I would really like a refund but I feel horrible asking that. The design she made was stolen by dropshippers and is now being mass produced, so I already feel bad for her.

What would you do? Just ask for a full refund?

Need some Advice - False Copyright Infringement Report

I'm really exhausted because my store has been continuously hit with unjust copyright claims lately. My products are entirely self-designed and manufactured, with photos I've taken myself. I don't use any designs related to brands or trademarks. However, for the past two months, my products have been repeatedly reported by a party with the website address: printerval.com. They repost my products and use them to report my store.

I've countered these claims, and after 10 days of work, my listings returned. But then, after a while, they resumed reporting me. This is now the fourth time, and I've had to close my store until I successfully counter them. Is Etsy's reporting policy too lenient? At the very least, if they want to report, they should provide convincing evidence that the product belongs to them. But no, Etsy allows them to report my store very easily using my own images.

I tried contacting the website admin that reporting me, but they denied that they reported me. Many others in the selling community with similar products to mine have also been reported by the same party. Later, I found out that anyone can use a website's address to report listings on Etsy without providing evidence that they actually own the website or the products they're reporting. It's an overly simplistic reporting mechanism that can be exploited by malicious actors

It's incredibly exhausting, and I hope Etsy pays attention to this.

I need advice (etsy seller)

Hi all, I’m a new seller on Etsy and feel that I have a vision and target market I imagine for my shop. However, I’m becoming frustrated with no sales although I have social media, sponsored ads on FB, and am getting visits, just no purchases. Since I’m new to this I’m wondering if anyone can give me advice on my shop or what I can do differently to get customers and sales.

Here’s a link to my shop: https://bridgekidstudio.etsy.com

Any advice is appreciated! :)

Can I have some advice for large orders from scam-like buyers ?

A few days ago, I received a very large order from a buyer. The peculiar thing is, they paid through Etsy Payment, and this order is on my to-do list. I had a conversation with this buyer to inform them that one of the items' production time would be longer than expected. The buyer expressed a desire to split the shipping to expedite the delivery of the remaining orders. Approximately 16 hours after this initial order was placed, Etsy canceled the order due to unauthorized payment. Subsequently, the buyer placed a second order, but Etsy held its transaction for less than a day, displaying 'processing pending,' before canceling the order again. Today, the same person placed a third order, this time paying by credit card. I noticed they used another account, signing in with an Apple user, but the delivery address and name remained the same, making it easy to identify. I contacted Etsy via online chat and phone to understand how long I should wait for the payment to be secured. The response was 24-72 hours. Then, this afternoon, I received another substantial order from a different buyer with a different address. This order was also paid via credit card, and the delivery address displayed 'USPS not verified.' It struck me as odd because the items in this order were very similar to the ones in the order canceled a few days ago.

After reading some posts here, I realized that even if the payment is currently secured and everything appears fine, the buyer can still request a refund from Etsy later for various reasons, such as not receiving the package or other excuses. I believe these two orders exhibit significant evidence of a high spam level, and I really don't want to spend more time later engaging in back-and-forth conversations to deal with refunds. From a seller's standpoint, what would be the best approach for handling these orders? Can we simply cancel the orders from our side?

I would also be eager to know if any other sellers have encountered similar situations in the past few days. Could this be a new spam trick?

How to limit the situation of customers not receiving goods?

Hi, I am etsy’s newbie seller. I have a lot of situation that the customer refuse to do procedure to clearance the package from DHL because the import duty or custom duty fee, sometime DHL tried to contact the customer but do not get the reply although I always try to get both phone number and email. When shipping by DHL, I usually declare a lower invoice value to reduce import tax, but some customers refuse to clear customs with this lower invoice, if I declare If I invoice the correct value, the import fees can be crazy and a lot of customers will also refuse to clear customs or will also leave poor reviews. I don't know how to handle this situation.

Newbie: How do tariffs work? Shipping from US/Korea to Canada

Hello! Hope you're all doing well, apologies in advance for the dumb questions. I am trying to ship a $200 dress from either South Korea or US to Canada. (EDIT: The dress is made in Korea if that matters.) My question is, how do tariffs/duty fees work? What do I have to do and how much can I expect to pay? Also -- I have friends in both countries. If I had the etsy seller ship to their places, and then my friends personally sent the packages to me -- would I still have to pay the same amount in tariffs/duty fees?

Thank you so much in advance!

“Extra shipping fee”

Is there such a thing as an extra fee when shipping with fedex? So this week I’ve been talking to a shop in Bali and I put in an order for an item, shipping was $40 to where I live in Canada. Later that night I messaged asking if I could add another item to the existing order. I was reassured I could and to purchase the second item and leave a note saying it’s to be combined with first order and one shipping charge etc. The next day I message again asking if I will be reimbursed for the second shipping charge. They responded they will weigh the items and I will be sent back the overage cost. The day after that I get shipping confirmation emails for two separate orders. So I message the shop they responded saying that the overage I would have received went to the an extra shipping charge to my location so there is no extra money to refund me. I am very confused by this since I have my address in Etsy and shipping is charged by location or am I wrong? I asked them to cancel the second item and then they told me it would be an extra charge of $20US to ship just the first item! How can they charge me more after I’ve already made the order!? After all this I asked to cancel both items. Hopefully I’ll get my full refund. But is that normal?

Advice on buyer asking for refund

I sell perlers on my Etsy the ones you put the beads on a board and then iron it to melt it together. I worked on a large piece for someone and when they received it they are now asking for a refund due to not being completely flat at the bottom and because the photo looks smaller. There is a photo of the item next to a tape measure so buyers can see how big it is. But I don’t know ow what to do when it comes to refunding them for the small bend at the bottom. These perlers are very Time consuming and I put a lot of love/time into them. Some beads don’t melt nicely like others. If I would have melted that area more I most likely would have melted the colors into each other way too much.

Policy help

Hello, I have had a couple of times where I get a package returned to me because either the address wasn’t deliverable or they didn’t add a last name and USPS was unable to verify they lived there so it was sent back to me. I am wondering how to add a policy to my page to say the customer is responsible for extra shipping costs if this happens? I checked in store policies and didn’t see anything for my exact situation in either my shipping settings or return and exchange settings. Or wondering if I should just take the L. Thanks!

Question about leaving a negative review

I ordered from a seller that takes a pic of your pet, and then embroiders that pic onto a hat. There were a couple different shops offering the same thing - I went with one that only has a few reviews, one of which was negative. The price was better so I thought I would try them out. I sent in the pic, they sent a mock up of the embroidery - it was adorable, I approved the mock up and they sent the product. The embroidery on the hat was completely different than what I received. They were both cat faces, but different colors, different stitching - it wasn't my cat. I contacted they seller and sent a pic of what I received vs. what I approved and asked for a refund. Seller replied that he would send a refund (haven't received it yet, but this just happened today so I'll give him time.) Onto my question - should I leave a bad review so other buyers don't waste their time? This item was gift - now I don't have the gift and don't have time to order from another seller. I feel like as a prospective buyer, I would want to know that this seller now has multiple unhappy customers and maybe not worth trying to save what amounted to maybe $5 vs just going with a shop with lots of good reviews. Any thoughts?

Digital and physical products in one shop?

I currently sell digital illustrations only. Recently, I began crocheting plush toys and would like to try selling some of them as well. However, I have a few things that I’m not sure of:

  1. Is it okay to sell the crochet toys in one shop with the digital listings? Or is it better to open a new shop?

  2. I’m not very familiar with the shipping process. (I’m located in Europe.). When someone orders, I need to pack the item, fill in the buyer’s info, go to the post office, send it, receive a tracking code, and enter the tracking code somewhere on Etsy, so the buyer can track it. Am I right?

  3. I currently have a star seller badge. If I will be selling everything in one shop, are there any mistakes that I should avoid in order to prevent the loss of the badge?

Thank you for any help and advice! :)

Best way to deny exchanges?

I’ve had countless times where buyers reach out requesting exchanges due to them disregarding my listing descriptions and purchasing an item that isn’t the correct size for them, or seeing an item they like more. My store policy has always specified that I do not offer exchanges and a lot of customers acknowledge this but still ask. Sadly I sometimes cave to avoid negative feedback and end up out of pocket as my items are made to order.

Do any of you guys have an efficient way to say no to these requests without completely pissing off the buyer?

Hundreds of rare antique cards. over 80 homemade scrapbook pages. date 1939+ Valentine's, x-mas, get well, birth, Easter, and more. carefully preserved in a large scrapbook and stored in a tote.

I buy online storage unit auctions. This was in one. There are so many cards here from every holiday and occasion. Many have dates. The oldest I have found is 1932, however, I can not open a majority of the cards because they are taped in. What else would you like me to keep an eye out for? What other unique finds could I easily overlook when going through these units? What are the crafty and clever Etsy crowd looking for?

I can't send any seller a message, it just says "Sending failed."

I've tried on my pc in google and firefox, I've tried on my phone in google and on my phone in the Etsy app. I've tried logging out and back in. I've tried deleting the browser cache, and turning off all of my browser add-ons. I've tried to send a message with 3 different accounts. I've talked to customer support and they all just said they'd send all the info about my situation to another team, which will apparently send me an email at some point, which I'm honestly a bit doubtful will happen.
The only thing that worked is one of the support people was able to send a message from my account, but it was a test message of "Hello", and they can't send any more messages for me.
I don't know if I've ever been more frustrated. Has anyone else had this issue and is it fixable?

Edit: If I turn on my VPN and set it to the US then I can send messages. Why? Who knows. But atleast there's a fix that might help other people aswell.

Etsy Payments in South Africa

I've just started my Etsy store in the last few weeks, and I'm wondering if there are any other South Africans here who can give me some more advice on getting paid by Etsy. I'd like to know if anyone knows a way for me to get my Etsy payouts faster than I currently am, like a day or two?

I have a Payoneer account connected to my store, but as a small store I don't have tons of money for overheads (I am starting this business as a side hustle.) I sell print on demand posters so already the profit margin isn't massive.

I get an order and have to pay for it directly from my South African bank account to process it, then Etsy pays me out to Payoneer on the same day, then about 3 days later it arrives in my Payoneer account and I can send the funds through to my South African bank account. The only catch is the $50 withdrawal limit. The product cost $44, by the time Etsy was done taking fees etc, I had $38, Payoneer took another $1.

So not only can I not send myself the money I've already paid to Gelato to print off a product for me, I have to wait for someone else to order another product, pay for that product myself, and wait for Etsy to pay me before I can FINALLY pay myself out for both orders. In the meantime I've already paid nearly R1000 and received no money in return, it's all sitting in a virtual account I can't touch.

There has to be an easier way than this or another service provider like Payoneer with a lower minimum payout threshold, like maybe $25? I have a PayPal account but from what I've seen that's only for buyers, and there is no option to get paid out to PayPal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: Payoneer just took $30 as their annual banking fee so now my entire profit and cost of the product has been devoured by banking fees. So if anyone could help me I would be eternally grateful 🙏🏼

New Update??

I got a notification from Etsy stating that my order had been shipped. I tapped on the notification so that I could look at which order that was, and the notification just took me to the home tab in the app. I was trying to look for the order in the app, but I realized there’s no tab for updates on orders anymore.

Does anyone know where to find that now? Or even how to find past orders? I’m so confused. I’ve looked through all the tabs (Home, Deals, Gift Mode, Favorites, and Cart) and I can’t find anything to do with my reviews, past orders, or upcoming orders. There isn’t even a messaging tab to talk to sellers. Anyone else get this update?

Confused

I had purchased this painting mid April and had to go out of town when it was expected to be delivered so I had it sent to a FedEx facility so I could pick it up when I was home. Seller decided to return the package to himself stating that he thought it had gone through too much transportation for me to pick it up as it was, which didn’t really make too much sense to me. Now he has canceled the transaction and purchase altogether.

I’m not going to post the name of the seller because I don’t want to bash them, but I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on this matter.

Are they taking it back because they could sell it for more? Am I fully out of luck?
