I came back to the game at the end of last year and then more recently went back into pirating. I'd say it's about as good as Odyssey has ever been for a pirate (OK, that's not a big claim). I'm just wondering if any other old pirates are coming back into the game. I know of a few already.
Where to begin.. the Miners Corporation is a RP based mining Sqadron in the idea of the belter from the TV-Series the Expanse.
We are totaly free and Independet outlaws. Everyone is a freelancer. We are not bound to the laws to aquire Materials.
We mainly mine for Missions in our Squadron and dont realy care where these goods come from. Or if the BGS is touched... We could tie in NPC or even better PVP piracy to get these goods.
Benefits could be:
-shared mining Missions for engineer Mats (grade 5) or Credits
mixed diffrent playstiles and the freedom to do everything you want
at least a social roleplay Home within elite dangerous
We have also a playerdriven carrier based logistic which is very flexible. We can live in every System as mining/pirating nomads. Its most of the time not about Credits we all have earned enough over the years...
Lets make elite "dangerous" again

New player here wondering if trying to be the rp neighbourhood pirate is a good idea or if it will just result in me getting shot at (I plan on doing powerplay as well in order to get better at ship fighting as a whole)?
I'm still really rusty at player piracy after coming back to it. But here's a video of me tracking down a cmdr in an asteroid ring.
The idea is to target their wake, but don't drop straight on top of them. Instead wake more than 40km from theirs. Then lose any ships that appear. These can draw attention to the fact you've followed them. When you get within 40km from them, your bandwidth will go up (It was 90km in Horizons). Then it's time to start looking for them. The wake of npc ships can give you an indication of where they are, but also use your camera to look for their lasers. One improvement in newer updates, is that their limpets also glow and you can find them sometimes, even when they are not firing their laser.
As you can see it's a slow burn activity. But if you enjoy stalking prey then it's great fun.
EDIT: This is all for PVE
Hello, all! I've been looking for ways to breathe new life into the game for myself (I'm on console). I dabbled a teeny bit into piracy in the past, but nothing remotely serious.
I'm going into this knowing fully well that it isn't the most efficient way of making money. I'm not terribly worried about that. For reference, I have an absolute blast doing tiny smuggling runs in my super cold DBS, or getting into fights in my Imperial Eagle. It's not efficient, but I love doing it.
That being said, what does everybody enjoy using for piracy? Of the ships I own, the most viable look to be the Clipper, Python, and both Kraits. I'm leaning towards the Python, but I'm okay sacrificing some efficiency for the beautiful Clipper cockpit. I also own every small ship, which I know wouldn't be as effective, but if people have fun using them, then I'm all ears.
Thoughts? Opinions? I'm open to anything.
Thank you!

What am I doing wrong? So, I bought a python and kitted it out for piracy. My friend wanted to join me, so we multi-crewed my python and went pirating in LHS 1541. We didn't get much, we didn't really know what we were doing, but we managed to interdict an adder and a sidewinder carrying LTD's and stole some.
He had to log off and I had to get some work done, so we sold our stuff. A few hours later, I went back solo to the same system, and every single ship with mining equipment I found had complete garbage. Copper, silver, uraninite, gallium, etc. The system I was in seemingly changed state recently to "Civil War" which I don't think it was when I was with my friend.
I've tried a few other system, and the best I've found so far is ships carrying gold. How do I find the diamond ships?
Some players in the latest CG might be carrying 781K+ per ton item... adjust demands to correct level...
To others carry on nothing to read here... PVP pirate news only nothing for PVE users...
Out ....
I popped back into the game for a little player piracy and the interdiction mini game seems a bit different and harder to win. I usually have no issues beating a conda in the mini game in my Krait, but now I am struggling.
By 'now' I mean since update 14
Fairly new to this trade, I’m thinking it’d be a lot more enjoyable with some friends or allies - are there any active/operational pirate carriers around, either player or NPC owned? Jumping between piracy hotspots with a gang on a fleet carrier sounds great. o7 and thank you
So i made a post on the main reddit but no real awnsers so i came here. My main play style was sitting in anarchy system in one of the main mining locations with my silent running python. i liked to role.play as a pirate stealing players cargo then leaving after i taught them how to turn their ship back on. Is it still viable or have all the targets completly moved onto solo? i quit after spending a full day session changing and no targets coming in
