So by the end of the season, everything comes together, who Laura De Mille is, Rita's double who got her killed by the death laser, the weird face guy in the underworld, and how time travel did it all. Rita went back in time and had a new life in the bureau of normalcy. So many questions there alone like, did Niles Caulder never even interact with her there? Or he wasn't around at that point?
And it seems like every other oddball with oddball superpowers is immortal, yet Niles didn't show interest in them? Like fog lady or the guy with a bicycle fused to his back or the Japanese lady with indeterminate powers? You'd think he'd have studied them too instead of going out of his way to make cliff, jane, and larry happen. Fog lady seemed like the ideal situation out of all of them, immortality for his daughter and power side effect that's manageable.
Also how does future Rita locking past Rita in the room and ensuring her death guarantee her future of going back in time and meeting Malcolm and the gang? If anything it would be better if she got away no?
But what I wanted to ask is: so we find out what Laura did is betray her friends to the bureau of normalcy. So... how the fuck does that get her demoted and/or fired from said bureau? She did exactly what the bureau wanted, so what Niles's letter have to do with anything? If anything wouldn't Niles's letter implicate Niles as having a soft spot for "metahuman freaks" and sic the bureau of normalcy after him, not Laura? That part didn't make any sense. It makes sense for Niles to have disdain for Laura for betraying her friends, but it doesn't make any sense for her to lose her job because of... doing her job. If someone could explain that bit?
Even though it all came together at the end I still felt it was a little bit messy there. Still mostly liked the season but... yeah I feel like season 1 was best and 2 was a good follow-up. Timothy Dalton was missed, but Alan Tudyk was especially missed.
Just finished season 1. I might have missed it but the only question I have is was there any explanation of how the original doom patrol started aging? I was under the assumption that since Niles put them together and how it was revealed he was studying immortality at the end of the season, wouldn't they also be immortal like the new doom patrol? Or was it the drug that Niles' coworker (bad with names) injected them with that stopped their immortality? Or is it simply that Niles wasn't studying immortality at the time and these were normal people/mutants/supers with no immortality?
Seen a lot of "how the doom patrol never age?" questions but never this one
Just started Doom Patrol last night but I’ve read it’s got connections to Titans, which I wasn’t really interested in watching.
I’m not really used to shows connecting to other shows, that’s part of how I never got into the Arrowverse.
But if I need context or anything I can give titans a shot.
He sings this in the season four episode "Immortimas Patrol". Every other song in that episode seems to have an official version to listen to except for this one. The only mention I can even find of the song is a single YouTube video featuring the song that a fan put up.
I don't know what's wrong with me but I'm I the only one who finds him kinda hot in his costume only (bandages, glasses and robe) and his voice omg😝. Maybe it's just me but he makes me feel like "I want to fix him" sorta way. I think it's because he's kinda emo and just sarcastic and dramatic in a low key way. Like you can't guess what he's thinking.
#watch #explore #pride
I just got back into the second half of season 4 (didn’t know it had resumed, max didn’t even make it show in continue watching) and I am so quickly reminded of what a demoralizing idiot he is. I truly think they would have been better if it was just a robot.
Was Cliff also like this in comics?
When part one of Season 4 came out I watched it as the episodes were live but when part two came out a couple of months ago, I just couldn't get myself to watch it.
Why? Well see, when I started the show an year or two ago, I thought it would be just some lame super hero show cause it's DC after all, right? But boy was I wrong.
I loved this show. I loved the characters, loved the individual stories, the plot twists, the overarching plot, the way the individual stories would tie into the overarching plot. I loved the humor, the drama and the very serious topics the show touched upon. Loved the ridiculous way they win against most villains. Loved the character growth arcs (Dorothy's was my favorite). Loved the time travel cause who doesn't love time travel? Amazing actors? Check! Two of them aren't even showing their face in 90% of their scenes!
This show had everything I wanted and enjoy.
And I couldn't get myself to watch the last episodes cause then it would mean it's over. So I delayed and delayed. Until yesterday.
And just now I finished the last episode. Now, I wasn't expecting a happily ever after, it's Doom Patrol after all.
Dorothy's missing but okay.
Vic finds his purpose after being a confused lost young man for the first 2 seasons.
Jane accepting what happened to her was gut wrenching to watch. Glad she finds happiness and peace.
Even Niles got to have the satisfaction of helping Jane and we see him pondering whether to drink the memory wipe tonic.
Rita's ending was deserved, >!her funeral was very much inline with the show's nature. And yet her final scene in the afterlife, touching and fulfilling.!<
Larry had a fitting end too, being brave and taking his chance.
Cliff. Okay so he still has Parkinson's, guess longevity can't save him from that, that's okay he can live out his last days with his family. But then the crystal Immortus gave him ties in.
!And then Cliff powers off!< and the credits role.
I did not expect that at all. Overwhelmed with a flood of emotions and the tears just started rolling. Cliff was the starting point of the show, the first protagonist. And it was so fitting to have the show end with his story.
I wish every good long running show gave a proper last episode and proper endings to it's characters. This is how you do it!
Thank you to all the people involved in creating this masterpiece of a show. I know it's not super popular but it will go down as a cult classic in history.
Without getting too deep into it, the love Larry and Rita had for each other just reminded me of my wife and I quite a bit. Larry’s quote here especially hit me in the feels because I’ve felt this way about myself and how my wife feels for me and just loves me anyway.
Such a damn good show, with a pretty proper send off for its characters.
I just finished watching season 1 and I can't understand why Niles was trying to become immortal. I thought he already was? Can someone explain?
So i watched the series finale and after drying my eyes 138 times… I started to wonder what happened to Dorthy? I know she was in the season and brought in Cassie, but where did she go?
Song when Rita meets Malcolm, at about 43 minutes +-.
Anyone know the name of the song?
Finally went and got my Robot Man tattoo I've been wanting for a while. Hope you guys like it.
They hit me in the feels in a way that I did not know I had for these characters in the final episode. It's weird feeling for these characters as deeply as I did given the comedic outlook they tried to portray. I hope someone has the opportunity to feel for them the same way I did some day.
so with Doom Patrol now officially over, which season was overall your favorite?
In all likelihood, I feel that this show will eventually be re-found by a larger audience. I just hope the cast and crew feel appreciated for the achievement that was this show.
And maybe it's not a good idea to compare it to Marvel films and tv shows, considering the ever-increasing discourse that is Marvel struggling to connect to the newer generations and buckling under its own output....but...for those of us who aren't sick of superheroes, Doom Patrol did do something that Marvel kind of sucks at....
I'm going to miss it. I would have appreciated more of their adventures. But I was left so proud of these characters for who they became by the end of it- they all came so far.
Yes, seriously. That’s why I loved it so much. It told real truths that no other show has done. It used metaphor to do it, but did it nonetheless. And so well. No other artistic endeavour has meant as much to me, or helped me feel so much that my understanding of the world makes sense to someone else. It has helped me love and feel loved.
At least on Apple's platform, so far: https://tv.apple.com/us/show/doom-patrol/umc.cmc.56oudgovxclsp7s4q34mvtf64
Now I can play the musical episode on repeat without being tracked by Discovery!
Interesting that the intro is back to the old HBO max and not the new and improved max.
It's a real shame we've been in the dark for so long. The past couple of years it's been released on Starz shortly after. But the series just ended and theres no word. There's not even of a DVD release. It's a shame really.
(I want to watch legally, we also don't have Superman and Lois S3 or Stargirl S3 yet either)
So in the Underground we see that each alter has a distinct look, including the old primary Miranda. However, Jane looks the same in the Underground and out of it. I assumed this was cause she’s the primary, but once again Miranda looks nothing like Kay. I’m assuming the external appearance of Jane/Kay is just Kay’s actual physical adult body, but why does Jane look like her and Miranda doesn’t or any of the other alters? Same with Karen, why does Karen not have a distinct look either, she’s just Kay with blonde hair. Is this just random? or is Jane actually Kay or what?
This is my favorite TV show of all time and watching the finale made me soo emotional. That cliff scene felt like watching your friend get hit by a car and die instantly. I'm sobbing, I got soo attached to the characters and watching such a beautiful ending was not the easiest thing to do. Rita's ghost was stunning, I hope I'm not the only one who found Larry hot with the bandages and glasses.
They finally got their peace and I want it to stay that way. To be honest I hope they won't like reboot it with Gunn because I'm afraid of what could be and sure cameos of the living ones will be a treat but I'm happy and satisfied that it's ended like this. It's been a wild ride. THANK YOU DOOM PATROL!!! 🥳🥳🥳😭😭.
I’m not really a fan of super hero tv but this show was amazing. I love the fact that it is not a people pleaser and raw most of the time.
I just didn’t like how they solved the Immortus problem but everything else was perfect.
Overall, which season did you like more: season 3 or 4? Most people agree that season 1 and 2 are better but which would you say is after that?
