Hi!
I've created a graphic novel that reimagines the Chinese classic, "Journey to the West," as a post-apocalyptic saga featuring a rebellious anti-hero born from a dinosaur egg. And it’s LIVE on Kickstarter with only 48 HOURS left! 👉 Link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/zeoniu/monkey-vol-1-a-trippy-post-apocalyptic-action-comedy?ref=36pfr0
Is Monkey a punk rock hero, an unhinged jester, or the true savior of the new world? It's Forest Gump meets Tank Girl - History’s coolest figures meet history’s coolest monsters in Monkey.
"Monkey: A Graphic Novel Vol. 1" is a vibrant reinterpretation of the Chinese classic, "Journey to the West". This novel traces the extraordinary journey of Monkey, a rebellious anti-hero born from a dinosaur egg in the Nevada Desert during the height of the Cold War. His existence challenges the US government, leading to a cataclysmic World War 3 and catapulting the narrative into a post-apocalyptic wasteland 500 years later. The tale is a blend of historical and fantastical elements, featuring an anachronistic mix of real historical figures and the unruly Monkey. Join us on this bizarre adventure as we delve into the legend of Monkey, a figure whose very existence continues to divide the remnants of humanity in this dystopian future.
If you’re interested, please pledge and/or help share it to spread the word. 🙏 Appreciate your support in advance!
Thanks!
Hi, folks. First-time comic attempter here and I'm trying to figure out the best way to lay out a page for my panels. I'm doing initial drawings on paper, then scanning them in, so these questions probably don't apply to folks who do both design and draw on the computer/tablet/etc.
Do most folks do a single panel per drawing page, then merge them on the computer, or do they draw the entire layout together on a single page?
What's a good size paper to use? I've seen famous old-time cartoonists using huge drafting tables with really large paper; is that the ideal size if you can make it work? Or can you work on 8.5x11 or smaller?
How accurate are you with your initial panel boxes? Can they be cleaned up on the computer afterward, or do you nail accuracy with a t-square/ruler before even starting?
Is there a good book or other source of info on laying out and designing comic panels? I know there are tons of sources on the illustration part of it, but I'm hoping to see the behind-the-scenes stuff.
Thanks!
