There is an urban legend that tells of a shinigami that can release people from the pain they are suffering. This "Angel of Death" has a nameโBoogiepop. And the legends are true. Boogiepop is real. When a rash of disappearances involving female students breaks out at Shinyo Academy, the police and faculty assume they just have a bunch of runaways on their hands. Yet some students know better. Something mysterious and foul is afoot. Is it Boogiepop or something even more sinister...?
All submissions on this subreddit have to be related to the Boogiepop series.

The scene in the op between her and Boogiepop never happened :( Maybe we'll see something about this in 2030?
Is there a guide or tutorial to start on Boogiepop? I've been told the whole story is splitted between manga, anime series and novel books and even sequels like Boogiepop Phantom, so what should be the correct order to start?
Thanks

(The last part of it actually came out last week, but I forgot to make this post at that time...)
I'm quite proud of how this chapter came out! I had a lot of fun making it, and working on it helped me to figure out a lot of new techniques (instilling dread in the listener, utilizing background ambiance, line pacing, etc...). I also discovered I have a knack for voicing "evil" characters, and I want to work on more books like this chapter in the future!
I hope you continue to enjoy my future episodes as they continue to be released weekly!
Sincerely, Ectro ๐๏ธ
aside from because it eats people e.g. what it did mean during that part when saying girl I forgot name of will become a walking corpse?
Been a long while since I watched the series. I know Boogiepop isn't really horror but I want to promote Boogiepop! What's a good creepy scene, perhaps something Manticore?
Thinking of maybe something from first arc but been a long while since I watched the series. I know Boogiepop isn't really horror but I want to promote Boogiepop! What's a good creepy scene?
Ive always wondered why the anime was listed as avant garde on MyAnimelist , but the LN wasn't. Must have been due to the animation being experimental in general , but idk.
How many volumes are out and how many are translated (doesn't have to be official translations) and what is the current status of the LN, is it still publishing?
I recently started the boogiepop and others anime series n I have enjoyed it. I am looking for a the light novel. Is the physical copy out of print or something?
Well maybe not that extendedโฆ. I like the soundscape in this shot.
Gonna give this anime a try. I see a lot of people recommending reading the novels first, but I don't really have the time nor commitment to read the novels. I was planning on just watching the anime, or should I just not bother and revisit Boogiepop some time in the distant future when I will be able to read the novels.
So if I am to watch the anime, should I watch Boogiepop and Others first, or just not bother with it and watch Boogiepop Phantom?
The Silver Case from Suda Goichi
They are similar in terms of art style, atmosphere and unique soundtrack.
The story of the game is fairly obscure though, unlike boogiepop phantom.
I donโt want to spoil that much so this is it. Hopefully you will like it.
In Boogiepop Phantom (1998) episode 4 it plays a little melody at the end of the episode. Like the very end b4 the credits. (When the guy is screaming Rie's name over and over in the background)
Im curious I know I've heard this tune lots of times possibly in other episodes of Boogiepop Phantom (or other anime? )but what is this sound. Is it like the school bell noise in Japan, or maybe something it plays at crosswalks? Does anyone here know? Does it still play this sound anywhere?
Thanks in advance โ๏ธ
I finally found the 1st volume at a decent price and was wondering if the end of vol 2 is the definitive ending?
Iโve only watched the 2000 anime and a little bit of Boogiepop and others but From what Iโve read in the wiki I really prefer phantoms interpretation over the rest. Anyone else agree? Does light Novel saotome become more fleshed out or similar to Phantom version? I was kinda looking forward to reading the light novels but it looks like in these versions heโs just the stereotypical sociopathic anime antagonist.
This is a repost of an old thread in case any newer people are interested.
I've been thinking about how we might convince a publishing company to translate more of the light novels into English. The fan translations are great, but it's such a shame that only the first six have been officially translated. Even of those, almost all of them were done pre-2007.
Other than emailing Seven Seas asking for more, which is fine but probably won't help, what other things could we try? Who else is out there? Here's a list of places I could find, along with their contact pages:
Feel free to mention some others if you know them.
If you want to see more official English translations of the books, please consider firing off a message or three to each of these places, asking them to license and translate more Boogiepop novels. They also probably have social media too. Put in some effort -- explain why you like the series, who wrote it, how many untranslated books there are, etc. Maybe we can make something happen. Thank you for reading.
Wow that ending! Gave so many reasons to rewatch and piece the mystery together better than the first watch through lol. 10/10 I wish I could watch it all over again for the first time
What did you guys think of that last episode conclusion?
Just wanna know the basic story of it and whether it would be a good read for when I actually learn Japanese lol.
Better yet, anyone tried translating it?
I was rewatching Boogiepop and Others, specifically the Vs Imaginator arc, and im either mistaken or ive stumbled onto a plot hole. Episode 8 ends with Jin confronting Spooky E and directly manipulating his heart/flower. But in Episode 9 when he tries the same with Camille, it doesn't work because shes a synthetic human. Is Spooky E not also a synthetic human? How did it work on Spooky E, but Jin isnt even able to touch Camille's flower?
I know that this is an overture to Wagner's Mastersingers of Nuremberg, but nowhere is there a guide on how to WHISTLE at least the beginning of this work, maybe someone found a guide or tried to learn it themselves.
pls let me know or write down a guide, Iโm sure the entire community will be grateful!
