New to Boise!

New Jersey transplant that recently moved to just outside the city. I'm learning some of the local roads what to ride what to avoid. I'm a road rider, at the moment but I'd like to get into gravel and mtn in the future.

BUT What are some good loops and groups, and when is a good time to ride. Back home any time after 10AM was a death sentence but I'm not getting the same scary feeling here.

Snow MTB - Surly ICT

Just picked up this Ice Cream Truck and I'm currently using it for doing dad stuff....I put my Kids Ride Shotgun on it and the fat tire stability and cushiness of the large volume tires are awesome for riding with my kiddos.

I'm curious, though, how many of you ride in the snow? If you do, what other snow gear should I look at?

Idaho City

Will be in Idaho City for a couple of days in September. Looking for 2-3 hour gravel or single track rides for experienced rider near the town. Willing to drive to a trailhead if it is better than anything close by.

Boise Gravel & MTB groups

Hey yall, new to Boise and looking to link up with some riders who rip gravel and/or MTB. I’m in the foothills with super easy access to the trails. Are there groups you can recommend for gravel rides and MTB rides? I’ve been riding and racing for about 25yrs. (Bike photo for attention)

Mistakes were made

Recently I decided to ride down Cole to get to pleasant valley rd,it was 98 f out with a light to moderate head wind, and I got to W lillalyn Rd and I had to stop and turn back only after 7 miles.Rushed to the nearest bathroom. My question is what did I do wrong or was it a combination of factors cause I made sure to stop and drink every couple miles. Was it due to wearing a backpack that had my spares, pump and a bigger filled water bottle(10 - 12 lbs in total) ???

Stolen bike

I know this is a common occurrence here, but this evening someone stole my bike from right by my front door, which does not have easy access to a public walkway or road. Black Specialized Allez, older model (not sure the year), orange tires and black wrap. If anyone has any information, please let me know!

tubeless or puncture resistant tires?

how many of you have tubeless tires? i mountain biked in the foothills once this year and already have a flat. I don’t want this to be a recurring issue. Are tubeless or puncture resistant better? what shop or brands do you recommend?

Table Rock Loop Alternative

Hey All! I'm looking for a way to get to the Quarry trail (#17) on Table Rock from the Tram Trail trailhead across from Warm Springs Golf Course. You used to be able to ride the Table Rock Loop but with the new neighborhood that trail has disappeared and I'm not awesome enough to ride the upper section of the Tram Trail. Looking for some additional options! Thanks in advance.

How are the trails approaching April?

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I’m looking to move into the Boise area, but I’m curious if the trails are rideable this time of year? Are they drying up? Still snowy? What’s the current trail condition?

If it’s not rideable, when do y’all suspect it’ll open up?

Shout out to Eastside Cycles

I had been looking forward to my first day climbing of the year all of week. I was going to take my buddy out on the loop I like to do for his first time on Saturday. Friday night my puppy decided to snack on my new bike shoes and ended up ruining one of the BOA dials. I had to scramble Saturday morning to try and find a replacement and after hitting 5 bike shops and calling 4 more spots, I came up empty. One of the guys at Eastside went home, took the dials off his own shoes and sold me two of them for 20 bucks (which I think is cheaper than I can get replacements from BOA). Please support your local shops!

From Austin > Cycling in Boise

Hi everyone, I’m looking at moving into the Boise area in August/Sept this year. I’m an avid mountain biker (love XC, enduro, DH) and occasional graveller. Looking at Trail Forks it seems there’s a good bit of trail there, but curious to hear from you all about the MTB/cycling scene there. How friendly is the city itself for commuting etc? How are the trails?

We’re looking at being in the Highlands area specifically for the trails, but are there other areas better with nearby trails? My requirement is to be within a 15min ride to a trailhead.

Biking all the the greenbelt

I saw this was done a couple years ago but the trail has changed since and wanted to know if anyone had any advice. I really want to bike the whole trail from Eagle to Lucky Peak. Is there anything I should know/bring? I have a road bike so I can't really do any gravel or unpaved areas. Are there any parts that are unpaved? Anyone have a combined map of the greenbelt trails? Any safety precautions?

Has anyone done this route?

Hi There,

Visiting Idaho later this month to visit my wife's family. I'm bringing my gravel bike and wanted to do a long gravel ride. I mapped this route out but I'm not even sure if these are legit roads. Especially the National Forest Development Rd 015. Anyone ever done this route and know if its ok for cyclists? Don't want to ride any trails that are off limits. Looking forward to the trip though! Did some mountain biking in Ketchum last year and had a blast! The route: https://www.strava.com/routes/3124735439058490424
