I'll try to leave out a ton of details to keep this as short as possible.

Born with neurological condition that did not impact my life for the first 19 years. Then in 2002 needed emergency brain surgery which has led to over 13 years of complications including non-conventional eating disorder, extreme weight loss, and eventually severe Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

Because all of this happened in my late teens to now (early 30s), my work experience is practically non existent. Somehow through this I did graduate college with a B.A. in Political Science and later obtained a paralegal certificate.

Medication has taken care of the anxiety for 90% of life. That last 10% is having a job. I do really well at GETTING a job but in the past I have voluntarily quit on Day 1 or within Week 1 because I feel I'm going to get fired soon any way. No work experience has left me questioning being told I'm smart my whole life. If so, why am I not picking this job up quickly? Why am I asking so many questions? Why am I making multiple daily mistakes?

My last job, before recently moving to a new state, was working for two years for the family company. Office work. The extended family new about my anxiety and issues. And yet still, even with knowing it was a 'safe space' with family, I had severe anxiety and called in 'sick' pretty much weekly.

Severe confidence issues in my abilities to learn and in my intelligence with not much of a track record to look back on as motivation. Plus severe physical symptoms of anxiety when I go to a job and while there which only makes paying attention and learning that much harder.

I've been told I have a ton going for me. Attractive, smart, very personable, kind etc etc. And rationally I agree up to a point. So that if I could just get out of my own way I'd not only survive but thrive.

I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Suggestions on how to handle a new job and not quitting? Advice on how your journey with anxiety and/or imposter syndrome has gone? Words of encouragement from someone who isn't family or paid to listen?

• Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
• Contribute to and maintain system standards.
• Contribute to and maintain security posture of the system in accordance with SOCII audit standards.
• Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage resources.
• Install and maintain security patches on the operational and development system, which includes but is not limited to, Debian Linux, Windows 2003/2008, Tomcat, VMWare, PostGreSQL, Rabbit MQ, and Apache web services.
• Report Security Patch compliance in Online Compliance Report System (OCRS).
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
• Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
• Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
• Create, change, and delete user accounts per request as necessary.
• Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
• Participate in the on-call Out of Hours Support process.
• Lead, coordinate and participate in key process improvements as they relate to the hosting our software products.
• Design and implement policies, procedures and technologies to ensure system performance, availability and security meet future known requirements.

*Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols and standards in support of all infrastructure projects, procurement and development efforts.

• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
• Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs.
• Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
• Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource
• Work with CTO to ensure proper controls and settings are enabled for a successful annual SOCII audit.
• Optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

Required Qualifications

• Familiarity with Linux operating system and command line
• Experience administrating common Linux services (HTTPD, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, LDAP)
• Construct script for common administrative tasks
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
• Administrate common Linux services (HTTPD, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, LDAP)
• Programming experience: Bash, Perl, C, Python, PHP, Java
• Database experience
• Understand common networking concepts
• Able to travel as necessary (California, Minnesota and Virginia)
