This is the home of Bike Polo on reddit.
Cycle Polo (or Bicycle Polo or "Polo-VĂ©lo", French or "Radpolo", German, etc..) is a team sport, similar to traditional polo, except that bicycles are used instead of horses. There are two versions of the sport defined by the surface type: grass and hardcourt. In both versions, teams of players ride bicycles and use mallets to strike a small ball into a goal.

I have an opportunity to build a semi permanent court. I used to play back in the day, is the sport growing at all? I'd love to play again but hate driving into Chicago. What's the interest out there. I'm talking about the West side of Lake County.
The dominion a2's are on a wild sale right now. I have a4's on my mountain bike and they're far and away the best brakes I've ever used- but too spendy for a polo bike. I'm tempted to try to try the a2's but worries that the 2pots just won't have the same jam as 4 pots. Anyone ever tried them for polo? Thoughts / opinions?
Like the titel says. I have my back wheel turns down. I can endo with both hands and even endo 90 turn. But going to a one handed endo turn just feels impossible. I keep sliding of the saddle and not being able to endo at all..
Any tips?

would be grateful if anyone could share any useful skills exercises for solo practice (& if you have any videos you'd recommend to accompany it, that would be amazing)
trying to get a secondhand mallet and ball to practice alone but finding it trickier than i thought to figure out where to get it online (i'm in london), and if i'll have to build it up rather than just buying a complete mallet. any recs for this would also be appreciated!
I'm not very experienced, but even on bikes that I have tried more times, I don't have a technical awareness of what's making the bike feel how it feels.
so I wondered where to ask, and is thus the only or most active online group / place for questions?
Bike polo calendar and the NAH website have dates but no location. Jordan park?
Anyone know where to sell polo bikes in the US? I have 4 but not sure how to find the right platform to sell them
Hi. New to bikepolo, literally borrowed my friends setup for 10min before their game and now I want in.
However I like my main bike to run it on court, so thinking about building one on a cheap. Right now I have a couple of candidates: build old 26" mtb into a single speed bmx-style, OR get a 700c fixie and slam a front disk brake on it.
I've seem both types of builds, and interested in pros/cons of both.
How are folks traveling by plane with their bikes these days? Product recommendations? Hacks to protect gear? Can mallets be a carry on or is that based on if your airline agent is going to give you a pass?
Hi again, thank you all for being so helpful and patient. I'm learning that there's not a lot to choose from in my area +150 miles or so. I did find this Pure Cycles bike, and for $20 I'm thinking it's worth taking a look. Is this amount of rust worrisome? I figure I'll throw on a new chain and brake cables, plus add a rear brake and pedal straps and be good to go as a beginner. Maybe. Thoughts?
They have an Instagram but I can’t tell if they are an active club. Anyone know?
I like riding to polo 18t fixed and playing on a 23t freewheel (sue me). I also appreciate the shins, ankles, and front wheels of my fellow polo players.
Anyone make a purpose made cog cover or know of any better ways of protecting the world from my nasty habit other than throwing a cut up tube and some zip-ties around it?
Thanks in advance.
Hello BikePolo,
Does everyone use a front break (leftside) for right hand shot on their bike polo setup?
TY
Basically title. There are woods that splitter less and orienting the grain right will help. It might be heavier too.
Just moved my daily driver to fixed. Can I use a fixed (w/ easier gear ratio) for polo? - read in threads and ppl have said ppl moved to single speed at some point, but forgot reason...
This is a fairly common occurrence for me. We got into contact, and then I tried to gently drive through him. Looking at section 8.3 bike contact, the initial contact was incidental, and the whole thing was not dangerous. But I can't say it didn't affect play. I was using it to play for the ball, and my goal was to make him dab. (When he fell, he was using his steering hand to push on me (it's off screen, you can't see it in the video) which is either the penalty of extension, or self defense, depending on what you think of what I did. Which is why the bike fell weird.)
I'd like to know everyone's thoughts on this. Is this how you play at your club? How would this be called in a tournament? Thanks.
Looking for one with big stopping power, good modulation, and mineral oil. Shimanos seem most common for polo but they’re more on/off vs. smooth modulation
