Good day guys, I recently arrived to work commuting and when I was going a tough uphill, crankset felt like it skipped really harshly when I put a lot of force on my cranks.
When I got out of my bike and parked it. I noticed that my cassette and rear wheel is turning really slow and has resistance.
Now I don't have any confidence in going back to my apartment because there are intense uphill bridges where I ride alongside cars and motorcycles, I don't wanna get into an accident.
Do you guys have any ideas on what may be wrong?
Some assholes stole my Fuji feather I tracked them down but they didn’t have the decency to store my bike out of the rain so some parts are rusting so I’d figure I should just upgrade.
Currently thinking the freewheel should be the first piece.
Considering the white industries freewheel(do I get the single or trial one?)
Or halo clickster
Looking at a 2023 Bombtrack Arise for $600, was used as floor demo, comes with extra set of gravel tires. I’m a casual rider around the hood but could see myself hitting the dirt roads a bit or even riding to work which is only a couple miles away. Good deal?
Picked it up yesterday and did about a 30km ride. Felt good but I didn’t find the gear ratio suitable for climbs. What would be a good gear ratio for smoother climbs and decent top speed?
So, I commute pretty regularly. Usually just throw a lunch box and fresh clothes in a tote bag which gets bungeed down. Anyone have any pro tips that could change my life?
Hey everyone,
I've been doing some research and narrowed down my options for my first single speed bike. Since I'm just getting started and want to stay within budget, I've found two options that seem like a good fit for me.
Living in Sweden, my local options are limited, so I'm looking to order from within the EU. I'd love to hear your opinions on which bike I should go for. Also, if you know of any other options in a similar price range, please share!
I'll mainly be using the bike for commuting and training, so durability and performance are important to me.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi all. Im not new to single speed life, but I am new to trying to work on my bike at home. Bike Mechanics get expensive, as well, in my small town, they are usually backed up with work a week or more any time I talk to them. As a commuter with only the one bike, I need to be able to fix all the minor things at home so as not to be without wheels.
My bike is 14 years old, and all parts are original except for my pedals. I know how to do the basic repairs, but id like to learn more as I have some minor things id like to improve upon.
Ive found lots of info on bike mechanics, but all are for geared bikes, mountain and road. Havent come across much in the way of Single Speeds or fixed gears, and unsure how much applies or does apply.
Two main examples of what Id like to learn to do at home are:
1: diagnosing and correcting clicking/popping while pedaling.
Maybe simple to some. But Im not the most mechanically inclined and appreciate guides and advice while trying to learn new things.
Thanks for any pointers!
I'm new to single speed/fixed gear bikes, mostly having ridden vintage steel 6 and 7 speed freewheels, but I spotted a Kilo TT Pro at a thrift store the other day for $100, and it seems like a pretty good deal, as well as an opportunity to try SS riding without the financial risk of dropping $500 on a brand new bike.
I've done a lot of research and I'm about ready to go for it, but I was hoping to get some feedback about quality and value relative to the price.
Any thoughts or input would be appreciated.
Thanks!
I am building a commuter single speed build from an old bianchi road bike. Not done with it yet. Any tips aesthetic wise?
Looking to build a single speed this summer for cruising. I've built a few bikes and do all my own wrenching. Any advice as to what kind of frame to look for? I'd like to buy a used (preferably steel) frame and work from there. The rest of the parts I can probably figure out. Also, I have no idea what common SS gear ratios are. Thanks!
Pic related: My Cinelli Gazzetta on DT Swiss, ~8KG 😍
Wanna use it like a singlespeed gravel bike maybe silver dropbars
Thank you
I had to restore it and got the pink 32 panaracer gravelkings tires on it. Mavic open pro wheels with the dura-ace hubs and this thing rolls smooth!
New to me bike day…
