Does anyone know what places may still have their toys for tots boxes out? We went to donate today and weren’t aware they had already begun picking up boxes. Thanks!
Let there be rock
Where in town has good hot chocolate? Thanks!
Hi! This is an odd request, but trying to reach out to all avenues. A couple of months ago, I took in a chicken that fell off of a meat truck. Long story short, the breed used in modern day meat processing (Cornish Cross) is not typically kept as pets. If you research them online, you'll read all kinds of horror stories about how they can't even live a week past slaughtering weight, that they'll get too fat and their limbs will break, they will have heart attacks, etc.
Most of the advice I saw online recommended immediate euthanasia, I didn't feel comfortable euthanizing a healthy animal, so I have kept her. I've done a little more research since then and found that they actually can often be kept as pets, they just will typically have shorter lifespans and require a little more care. I've had her two months now and she is extremely healthy, but also lonely, and I would love to get her a friend. I can't get any breeds that are typically kept as pets because her food has to be carefully measured out, as meat birds are bred to have basically unlimited appetites, so a smaller bird wouldn't end up getting enough food living with her.
Does anyone know of somewhere that I could get one or two Cornish cross (or another large broiler breed) hens of approximate processing weight? I don't want to go with chicks because I absolutely can't have roosters and I know I'd get attached if I got unlucky and got one. I live just north of Athens and I'm willing to drive two or three hours in any direction.
Just walked outside to find the sky smiling at me!
Seems to be an incredibly overbuilt (soon to not be) dead end road.
Get it while supplies last!
I can see that the tickets are in my Classic Center ticket account (if I want to transfer them to another), but I haven’t found a way to just download them for use tonight.
…because if not, that person would make all the money.
Trying to get more active and live kind of out the way on East Side so would likely have to drive and park somewhere. Just wondering if there’s any particular route that’s especially pretty or safe I guess
Thanks in advance!! Sorry if already asked before
Artsy Fartsy things and classes in Athens. Does Athens have an active art community?
Does anyone know what's happening with the Marathon station on Lexington by the movie theater? I saw it was closed and fenced off when I drove by today.
Me (bass) and a friend (vocals) are starting a folk rock/old-school country/bluegrass group next semester, and we’re looking for a guitar player! (preferably a UGA student or around college age) We’re mainly looking for someone that plays acoustic, but if you play a Telecaster or a Gretsch or some other country-style electric guitar that would work as well. Experience-wise, we’re fine with anyone as long as you’re alright with improvising/jamming a little bit on the fly.
If you’re interested, send me a DM!
Hey y’all! I am currently trying to find some kind of activity or social outlet for my grandmother. My grandfather passed away 2 years ago, and my grandmother has been rather lonely since then. I go visit her as much as I can, but I’m a busy UGA student, so it’s hard.
She needs some kind of regularly scheduled weekly social outlet where she can meet other people her age, and I was wondering if anyone here knew of any good groups? She has mobility, but knowing her, she is not really interested in any exercise based activities. She likes art, architecture and comedy.
Thanks for the help!
Anyone have any recommendations for carpenters that can assess a deck and make repairs or rebuild if necessary? Thanks in advance!
All will be few-simple
Does anyone have service here with mint mobile?
Today around 11-12 pm my power kept going out in every few minutes, and coming back on a few seconds later. While the power was out, I would hear what sounded like electrical arcing in the distance. This was in the area of Milledge Avenue and the Loop. I called Georgia Power, and they didn't seem to know anything Anyone know what was going on.
Does anyone know of a list of the restaurants in town that are open for Christmas dinner? We've decided to do a nice night out with the family instead of cooking this year, if possible. Thanks!
