I’ve played both but dishonored back in 2018 and death loop back when it released so I don’t remember much of either. Which game has more of a Christmas vibe if either?
Imagine if they made an entirely new game set in the early 1900s, with dark themes and mechanics similar to Dishonored, and an LA Noire vibe mixed with doom jazz. You’d have a city that feels like New York, New Orleans, and Dunwall mashed together, with narrow alleys and tall, cramped buildings perfect for parkour. You’d play as a detective with powers, diving into twisted cases that go beyond just solving crimes.
It would be like BioShock meets Disco Elysium and Shadows of Doubt, creepy and intense, but also deep. The cases would dig into people’s messed up lives and psychology, with every choice actually meaning something. The doom jazz would set a moody vibe that pulls you in as you figure out secrets and unravel layers of corruption throughout the city. Imagine being able to read minds or mess with people’s emotions to get clues, making each case feel different and personal.
I’m sure nobody really cares, but it just popped up in my mind and I just had to share it.
Hope it is.
Arkane cant be disolved like that right?
Ok guys hear me out.
We are all starved of Dishonored content. We all want more. Here is an idea for a new storyline.
How many of you have played the critically acclaimed but long forgotten game “Clive Barker’s Undying” which an old horror FPS written by Clive Barker.
I feel that game can be revived and rewritten for the Dishonored Universe.
There is an element of otherworldly horror in the game which in the game came before sourced from the void, which is in a state of chaos now that the Oursider is dead or gone.
The game can start with absolute chaos and can end with either survival (high chaos) or stability (low chaos, with maybe a new outsider figure)
Thoughts? Opinions?
I was replaying death of the outsider last year and realized that it has district maps in certain spots on the city, but you can't take it with you to look anytime you want. I think this is a problem in most arkane games of setting on the waypoint marker by default to guide the player, undermining some of the exploration and discovery of the game instead of giving a map for the player to figure out their own path.
Prey has waypoints turned on by default, but it has a map of talos-I as well so it's very easy to turn off all markers and just use the map as guidance. I think it's good to include waypoints as an opinion since there's people who have difficulty with first person games or with direction in games in general, but leaving them on by default means that mos people will be inclined to play the game that way just following the waypoints.
I feel that games like prey and dishonored are better playing a second time specially because I play without the waypoint and it feels like I'm exploring more. Even compass rose style waypoint (like the one in skyrim) are better than the ones in dishonored or prey; Mini-maps like the ones in baldur's gate 3 or RDR2 are also better solutions than waypoints on screen.
I have yet to play the game, so maybe it has something to do with the story, but from what I've seen it's a mostly typical fantasy world.
Any ideas on why it's called "Dark Messiah"? (No spoilers please)
Thank you
Given how Arkane games never seem to sell anymore, this seems like a bad sign? Do you think it will affect development?
1. im broke
2. some part of me doesnt want to do this (its getting completly overwhelmd)
3. those are last arkane studios left to buy for me (except prey moon landing whitch i may buy later and redfall whitch i wont)
I read somewhere that it would be the case. Was there an official annoucement about it?
I'm a PS5 player so I kinda want to die if this is the case, never got a PC that could run new gen games, so I might go geforce now but that would downgrade my experience compared to a PS5 game
There are only three studios I deem competent enough to create the next Star Wars game. Those are Arkane Studios, id Software, or Rebellion Developments. All of them excel in either first person or third person games with superb game play and atmospheric levels.
In terms of Arkane we have games like Deathloop, Prey, and Dishonered. Sure, there was Redfall. But I think any of these three would revive Star Wars in interesting and new ways.
Then we have Respawn who did a great job with the Jedi-games, but I believe it's a good thing to try new competent developers to evolve any franchise.
Anyone know how to fox the crashes in dark messiah? I fixed it for the most part but now I can’t load into chapter 7 as soon as I grab the skull of shadows and start loading chapter 7 it crashes

Arkanes co-director Harvey Smith has been really talented & has also written a book "Big Jack is Dead." i'd reccomend reading it if you haven't checked it out. but what do we think will happen to him? he has made many games, & credited in other things, Harvey Smith is basically the Outsider both him and his team) are the ones that decided which ending is canon yet he worked on deus ex, & redfall, and his whole story of greedy real life blood suckers... most of his works in games are about populism & the middle class suffering.
I enjoyed his work so it was sad that he couldn't keep his job.... & was let go with the rest of austin, Harvey Smith has worked on games ranging from OG System Shock, OG Deus Ex to Dishonored 1 and 2. He's a legend in the industry along with many other credits... so its kinda stupid he wont get any new positions or keep his job.. is it possible he could work at wolf eye studios with Raph? or do we think he wont do more writing for immersive sims or could he form another team or get hired somewhere else? When you make many games from the depressing world of dunwall, to talos to a world where Drs/therapeutics stealing blood & almost every character must be defeated ... how effective will these stories be going forward & could harvey get more work on future projects, or do these games in another job/field, or form his own studio? Monsters are always metaphors in these games... so hope he goes onwards with his art style & writing. ;/
what do we think?
(I copied this from u/CrimsonAlpine's posts in r/Prey and r/Dishonored. Thought it fit here and check out their profile) AUSTIN, TX. (August 8, 2024) – Wolfeye Studios, Inc., an independent development studio co-led by President Raf Colantonio, founder of Arkane Studios and co-creator of the award winning and critically acclaimed games Dishonored and Prey, today announced that their next game, which is a First-Person Action RPG, just wrapped Pre-Production and is now full steam ahead in Production. Wolfeye's intention is to get input from the community early on in the development process to help make the game the best it can be by running an exclusive and limited private Alpha. This announcement follows a playful tease at Game Developers Conference (GDC) where the studio shared an image of a whiteboard from their Austin office with the words “Retro Sci-fi” and “First Person” scribbled on it.
Wolfeye Studios is a team made up of world class industry talent who primarily came from Arkane Lyon and Arkane Austin, the latter of which permanently closed in May this year. Co-founded by industry veterans Raf Colantonio and CEO and Executive Producer, Julien Roby, also a former Arkane executive on Dishonored and other Arkane Studios games, Wolfeye Studios first game, an isometric 3rd person action RPG called Weird West, made its announcement debut at The Game Awards in 2019 and was published by Devolver Digital in March 2022. It was also nominated for "Best RPG of the Year" at the 26th D.I.C.E. Awards. This next game will be an ambitious new IP built upon the DNA of earlier Arkane games to deliver a rich and detailed world, freedom of how to play and a deep RPG experience.
“We are so happy to be able to officially confirm that our next game is actively in production and that it is a First-Person Action RPG,” explained President and Creative Director, Raphael Colantonio. “Fans of the past games I have been involved with such as Dishonored and Prey will feel at home, as well as fans of RPGs in general. While we look for the right publishing partner, our sights are firmly set on getting our community involved with the game’s development with a limited private Alpha in 2025. We cannot wait for fans to see what we are working on.”
Gamers who want to enroll for a chance to get a spot in the limited private Alpha are encouraged to sign up to the interest list which is forming at www.wolfeye-studios.com/signup
What the title says. Someone PLEASE hire Arkane Studios stuff and rebuild the studios because they made GREAT GAMES, went out off the beaten path, I did not like all their games but they were great, they deserve BETTER than what F*****G Microsoft did to them. Those who 've played their games know.
In the bank mission an contract had you come across this vault which had the name morgan yu same as the person in prey.
I know the spirits are low since Arkane Austin has been shut down, were not able to bring Redfall to the state they wanted and couldn't develop another single-player experience - but Arkane Lyon are still very much operational and their future seems bright despite the loss of the sister-studio. I've seen a lot of gloomy perspectives on the future of the studio, so I decided to share my view of the current situation.
Mind you, the following are speculations, and given how projects can be cancelled and studios can be closed on a whim, we should wait until Arkane Lyon share the information themselves.
Since arkane is shutting down is blade going to be cancelled or given to another studio
Arkane is a victim of corporate greed. With the recent closing of Arkane Austin, it seems that Microsoft is not interested in making smaller innovative games anymore, and will focus primarily on profit from big IPs. Arkane needs a lot of resources and creative freedom to make their masterpieces, and Microsoft is not willing to give them that.
Now who could provide that? Valve. Valve knows the value of high-quality singleplayer games. They have worked with Arkane before. Arkane needs a corporation to finance them, as their games are expensive, and I cannot think of a better fit for this than Valve.
Hi!
So, this is meant as a discussion / speculative post.
I'm a huge Dishonored / Prey / Deathloop fan and I've been wondering how much that signature "player's choice" element Arkane games have will play a role in Blade.
In Dishonored, you could play "good or bad", help an old lady cook and eat a guy, choose whether or not to free prisoners, etc. Similar things were possible in Deathloop and Prey.
Now that there are two hardcore mainstream players involved (Marvel and Microsoft), I just hope player's choice and those morally grey areas will still be present in Blade. Also, I'm curious what they'll look like.
I'm interested in what you guys think.
