I just finished Mooncrash, and I loved it. However, If I'd known that completing the last objective (and thus finishing the story) meant that my save file would become unplayable, I would've done things differently. I've really enjoyed my time with this game, but it's slightly irritating that I now have to start over, and lose all the fabrication plans I found, just to go back in to get the last few achievements. (including the one for equipping every neuromod for every character, which I was most of the way through, and will take some time to complete now that I have to start over). The game is great, and it deserved more attention than it got, I just wish the situation regarding save files had been better communicated, or handled in a different way.
Funniest thing I learn today is you can stick recycling grenades on enemies.
Terrible quality photo but I did it. I played on normal for every run except for my last, I decided to do a no needle run on Nightmare and I got to tell you, it really wasn't that bad. More annoying than anything and having no powers is not as fun as people said it would, but I did it. I love the game and when I started in the community a few months ago I couldn't even get through my first playthrough. Thank you to this place and now I can actually feel like I can play with the powers I want.
I play on console, so I only have three hot keys. I map them to Psychoshock, Kinetic Blast and Electrostatic Burst. After I've got two levels of each, I kill everything. I just cycle the skills while the others are in cooldown.
I have done human builds with maxed out Combat Focus and maxed out weapons and that's pretty good. But now, I feel like a god. I don't even have a weapon ready.
Even when the Nightmare shows up, I am like, yeah, free exotic material, cool.
The mimics can and will throw explosive containers at you. Ive died a few times to this before realizing what was going on. Though it should take 2 explosive containers to kill you unless your hp is upgraded. Im not sure if other typhoon forms can do this as well as I have never seen them doing it. Mimics seem to take joy in doing this...
Pretty much every AI has the ability to clear the area in front of them if they get stuck. This can easily clear an entire room of stuff, throwing it around like confetti. Watching this happen is quite amusing.
Operators can open locked doors for you. But they have to have a reason to go into that room, so you cant just push them into the doorway.
Operators can repair things. They just dont want to. You can most often see them repairing turrets in Mooncrash, but they also just seem to get stuck in the roam mode
The Huntress Boltcaster can annoy typhoons.
Im not even sure what caused this. I have looked it up and I have tried multiple things to try to fix it and so far nothng has worked. I would appreciate any help.
So I am a big idiot.
I love the dishonored games and have been meaning to play Prey for a long time. Every time I have started the game (3 separate instances) i haveny gotten past the initial visit to Morgan's office without getting pulled into something else and dropping the game. I finally decided to give it a meaningful attempt and I think i accidentally spoiled myself in a big way.
I was looking up a quick question about the early game (i was curious if there was some trick to the tests at the very beginning that gave you a better result than the obvious disappointment of the doctor) and I stumbled upon the sentence "at this point it is revealed the player is not Morgan Yu but a genetically modified strain of (some alien word i dont recognize) or something like that. I quickly clicked off but now my head is buzzing thinking ive somehow ruined the experience.
How badly did i mess up here? Is this gonna ruin the story experience completely?
Edit: it seems to be the case there is still a good amount of story to experience and mysteries to uncover outside of this one spoiler. Im very excited to get into the game more
Just seems to be 2 giant black sections either side when i select this setting, 2560 x 1440 works but stretches it completely, tried to use the flawless widescreen plugin and that just makes it even smaller, does anyone have a solution for this issue?
A follow-up to the music replacement guide. Get foobar and foo_input_vgmstream from https://github.com/vgmstream/vgmstream.
Any and all newly generated .wem files need to have the right 16-bit integer at offset 28. If they use the wrong value, the game will crash trying to use them. This is a core concept necessary to add any new audio into the game and will be referred to as "validating" from this point on. Look at the music replacement guide and the value of the files you're replacing. Most voicelines seem to have 04 00, most SFX seems to have 03 00. I do not know what this value means but it's the key. It may take trial and error to find one that sounds right. Rule of thumb, try the value of the file you're replacing first, or of stuff it sounds like
There are two kinds of audio - SFX, which covers everything except spoken speech, and Voice, which covers all the dialogue in the game. SFX files are created by converting to Vorbis Quality High, and Voice by ADPCM As Input.
SFX is divided into two sub-categories: independent and soundbanked.
Independent SFX are individual .wem files that can be viewed on their own. They’re likely tied to a soundbank, but can just be replaced by a new (validated) file. The challenge lies in knowing which file corresponds to what you want to change - the names are strings of random numbers and going through all the files may take time. You can try using the method I discovered for soundbanked SFX to alleviate this.
Soundbanked SFX are .wem files that are only present inside of a soundbank. The method I used to modify them was to create a new soundbank with events to play my desired audio, and insert the name of the event alongside the new soundbank’s name into the relevant file in Libs/GameAudio - the audio there is labeled so you will probably know what you’re looking for.
Regarding soundbanks - using just Audio.pak will be outdated. You need to override the soundbanks you’ve extracted from it with the soundbanks located in patch.pak in Precache.
Voice is the simplest in terms of knowing what to replace. You need to have localization extracted for this. Find the line you wish to change in the localization text files, and look at the string ID above the text. It will start with BDDB. Search for this ID in sounds and open the xml. When you have the xml open, search for the string ID until you see a file ID related to it. Search for the file ID, and there will be a .wem named after it. That’s your voiceline.
Sidenote - non-gendered lines from Morgan/January will give two xml results. Male January ends in 1033. Male Morgan ends in BB009.
Replace the voiceline - keeping in mind that you have to convert your audio to ADPCM instead of Vorbis, and don’t forget to validate, of course. We will then need to get the soundbank it corresponds to - it shares the name with the xml we found the file ID in. Get that .bnk. You will need to search for an integer - the size of the original .wem in bytes, as a single number, and then replace it with the byte size of your new file. If you don’t do that, the new audio won’t play.

When I go into a room, I normally lock the door if I can. But Riley Yu's office door does not have a button outside to open it, which means I can get through with Clair. Tried using an EMP, which does unpower the door, but does not unlock it (which it should, since that should be a safety feature).
Anyone know of a way to get Clair through that door? Without resetting naturally since that would be the easiest way
Can someone confirm if you can or cannot replay the character story missions?
An email and announcement talk about a missing briefcase. I can't seem to find it, does it exist?
Or just use what the game gives you for a more natural progression?
Yes, his toolset is probably the least flexible but as Stalin said: "quantity (of HP) is a quality of its own". A mountain of HP + the ability ruuuun across the landscape much faster than any typhon, practically ignoring any opponent you don't want to deal with. I think I have the most fun with this guy.
Yes, I know the time constraint is part of the appeal but I would love to have an option to play the game at my leisure. Is it possible?
What happened to cause the screen to not work? I cannot select Activate.

Which is VERY clearly inspired by Prey, I have no idea what I walked into but it’s sooo sweet. Last place I would have expected to see such influence is in Call of Duty but here we are!
First playthrough and I’m actively just not having fun with this section. Fighting 5,000 Military Operators and having to stop every 30 seconds to do health suit and psi repairs because I’m burning through those (literally on the first two) so fasg is just grating. Then during that I went to meet with Igwe and got chased into the office by, surprise, 5,000 MO’s perusing me, so he bails out of the room and after more obnoxious fighting I finally get him to quit cowering out on the ground floor and he just stands there doing nothing. Apparently it considered the dialogue for his side quest triggered without actually doing anything, because next thing I know that quest updates with all the info from the convo I never got to hear, then he literally crabwalks from his position sideways to go back up to the office. I see I still have dealing with the confrontation on the side quest for the fake call for help, so I look around for the operators to do that in medical and after killing a couple, get an update that I failed only incapacitating Dahl? Suggesting I killed him I guess but he was never there?
Idk what the fuck is going on but welcome any suggestions. This part of the game just really sucks to me. I want to like it but between he relentless enemies and glitches I don’t even want to play it atm.

I wanna do this so that I can work on my german listening skills while having fun. Having english text and subtitles makes the game playable for me.
Had this shower thought today after I finished my 4th playthrough a week ago (The 'disabled' run I posted here if you remember).
!We wake up in our apartment and according to the story Morgan thinks that he's on earth, that means the first neuromod he installed must have happened while he was in his apartment or at least somewhere on earth, especially since Alex says that "We'll be in orbit next week, I promise" just before the test begins.!<
!We know that when we remove a neuromod - our memory resets to the moment before it was just installed.!<
!But in this case, doesn't that mean that Talos 1 sent a neuromod to earth ALREADY? That means the typhon cells were already on earth (Unless human neuromods do not contain any typhon cells in it?)!<
!Now if we assume that the first neuromod Morgan installed was when he had already reached Talos 1 then it makes no sense that Morgan doesn't have this memory that he's on Talos 1, so the previous assumption must be true, that 1 neuromod was brought to earth and Morgan installed it. Then got onto Talos 1, did some stuff there for 3 or so years and once the tests begun they strip this 1 neuromod (And all the neuromods he installed afterwards, hence no abilities) so he would think he's still on earth, at home.!<
While he is still alive, do recycling charges keep respawning or are there a set number of charges and locations and then no more?
There was a post here earlier with links to Google Drive, but the links are outdated. I know the algorithm for extracting textures from game data, but it's a very long and complicated process. Maybe someone saved those copies?
In particular, I want to figure out the scientific whiteboards there
