Is it worth the hassle for online?

I don't wanna make an account with Bethesda. Honestly, would rather not interact with anyone at all, just play at my own pace. But I'm smart enough to know the game is probably balanced around online.

Are there even people still playing?

Pact of Smoke in-game hints

So I'm trying generally to play this game without looking anything up and I stumbled across this smoke machine and found the hints about switching the device to have each member survive and steal their codes. But outside of the document mentioning Vanya and Anatoly's names, how the heck are you supposed to find out their locations? There was a brief mention of Karl's Bay in the audio log but that's a big stretch imo...

How does Deathloop compare to Prey and Dishonored?

I'm a big Arkane fan and played all their games day 1 since Dishonored 1 (I had played Dark Messiah before Dishonored).

It pains me to see how Microsoft has ruined them. I always knew this would happen from the moment they announced they would purchase Bethesda.

Anyway I had completely forgotten about Deathloop after it came out! Unfortunately it came out at the same time I was pulling all-nighters to finish my thesis while having a full time job. I simply couldn't play any game for a while.

Is Deathloop the same quality as Dishonored 1/2 and Prey? How did the gameplay evolve from those games? Before it launched, I feared it would be a bit repetitive, hope that's not the case.

How long is the game from start to finish according to you (quickest and completionist)? Thanks for your answers

Ideas for a DLC

Okay okay i know it’s looking extremely unlikely that we’ll ever see a new DLC for deathloop, but just for fun, what would you want to see? New exploitable areas? New visionary/boss? New slabs? New weapons? New lore?

Opinions on the exploding bullets rifle + quick reload?

It's my favorite weapon and trinket combo in the entire game (aside from perhaps the silenced pistol + bang on + dead on + lightning strike), but it feels like I'm cheating when using it online?

Screen regularly going white (only markers left)

This is driving me insane. 1 in 3 sessions, after 20 minutes of play, everything suddenly goes completely white. Only the markers are left. If I go back to the main menu, I have the texts "break the loop" / "protect the loop", which I can select, but no graphics, no hands, no gun, nothing.

I have a geforce GTX 1070 with AMD Ryzen 5 1600X 3,60 GHz, my drivers are up to date. It's the only game where it does this, and, with their peculair save system, it means 20 minutes lost each time. Maddening.

Anybody got that problem? Found a solution?

Multiplayer Trophies

I’ve been wanting to platinum this game but haven’t been able to get the multiplayer trophies (Dressing Down & Nowhere to Hide) since everyone still playing online is a sadistic pro. Which I respect but I can’t beat em 🥲 if anyone would like to play a match or two and get the trophies lmk and we can work it out 🫡

Edit: I’m on PS5

How is performance on PC now?

Pretty much the title. Saw it's on sale right now and looks interesting but I've seen some mixed reviews about performance.

Franks fireworks

I just completed the balad of ramblin frank but now I’m confused. I’m going on to do all the other leads but do I need to mess with the flaps every loop or just the one?

Xbox Achievements bugged cause and fixes (No/minimal Spoilers).

Leaving this here in case anyone is wondering why their achievements aren't unlocking and wants a solution immediately without trial and error.

It's because of quick resume, this means that exiting the game to the home menu or using a different app for even a second will make all achievements unobtainable, you have to either play until you unlock all Achievements or close the game while still being in it (haven't tried that yet).

Solutions: Reset Colt's Progression (this is unlocked upon finishing the story) will fix the issue completely until it's put back in quick resume.

Alternatively if you have all story (hopefully so you can keep your progression) and have the Xbox app on PC and Gamepass it'll always award the achievements after the requirements are met, and finally if an achievement for a slab doesn't work then drop the slab or reset the loop to morning so it is removed from your inventory if you infused it already however then you should be able to sacrifice it and obtain it again on PC to receive the achievement. If it's a story mission achievement just quit to main menu and redo it on PC to unlock it. You'll have to restart your progress anyway if you didn't unlock a story achievement regardless.

Hopefully this helps people with their achievements!

so... nevermind. I didn't move on from Deathloop, and I'm now obsessed with the PvP element.

About a week ago I made this post discussing how I'd finished the SP campaign, loved it, and decided to move on from Deathloop and not try the PvP because multiplayer isn't my thing.

I actually started a different game and played it for two days, but couldn't stop thinking about Blackreef. Started reading stuff online about people's experiences with PvP and the amount of strategy potential got into my head. Said to hell with it, it'd be fun to see what resetting Colt's progress and replaying the initial part of the game would be like after having gotten the hang of things. Turns out it was awesome (I really struggled with the early game the first time around) because I had gotten good. So then I said to hell with it, went Online, and have been fighting Juliannas.

It's hard to emphasize just how much this changes the gameplay and really improves the entire Deathloop experience. Everything just matters more... I have to think about every aspect now. Whereas before I just leaned on a certain playstyle and kind of coasted, every slab/weapon/trinket loadout requires deep thought before starting a level where you might get invaded by another player. Map knowledge is incredibly important. Your approach to clearing out enemies and turrets/cameras (or not). Your approach to level goals. And how you're going to try to control the engagement with the other player.

And the rewards are way different. First of all, it feels terrifying to face another player and incredible to come out the victor. Keeping your own gains and then sometimes being rewarded by their drops. And then continually building the skills to be able to hopefully challenge the really elite players someday.

Really glad I gave it a try. Can't wait to try playing as Julianna at some point too.

Interesting vehicle post

Saw this and thought it's pretty much the same style of vehicle from the game

Possible to kill Aleksis during Day 1 (The Longest Day)?

Just started playing the game, kinda just wandering around and what not. Ended up ignoring the mission to open my safe for a bit and wandered into the wolf party. Colt starts mentioning some dialogue about Aleksis despite me not knowing that he's here (I think) so was wondering - has anyone actually tried finding and killing him this early in the game? Dont really want to spend a long time myself it he just isn't actually there.

HOW the world do I turn off online? I'm so angry right now.

I'm so mad right now I'm still learning don't know the maps and this actual playing just owns me.

I could do nothing but flop like a fish.

I'm not angry at the player. I'm angry at the game for just throwing you online without warning. WHY do that to a new player? WHY! I get that its a PVP mechanic but folks tend to learn the game faster or the game has been out long enough for folks to learn stuff.

I REALLY just cant handle that. I DONT PVP!

So again not angry at the Julianna that PVPed me its not their fault the game just throws new player into the acid pool with sharks.

But come on...

"You want me to break the loop; You don't want me to break the loop. Which is it?"

For real, this is a real plot hole for me. What was Jule's true motive here? She instigates Colt to break the loop to the point that he eventually thinks it was his idea. Maybe he eventually would have tried to break the loop and she just speeds up the process, but it seems weird that she pushes him down the path. We know that this has happened enough times that she even has favorite "parts". Maybe he's just her favorite book and she just wants to skip to her favorite part. What's everyone's thoughts on this?

Final Loop done. What a fucking amazing game

So I just beat the game for the first time and holy shit, I’m actually blown away. And spoilers btw, I’m gonna mention a couple specific things so if you’re still getting through your loop, begone! BUT before you go hear me out: if you’re stuck figuring out some puzzles and are considering putting the game down KEEP GOING! I promise you it gets so much better, you just gotta put those first couple pieces into place and then it snowballs so much. You can do it, I believe in you!

I really liked the vibe of deathloop right from the start. Straight away I was just amazed at how the game looked and felt. I mean, Blackreef is truly such a stunning setting and it was so cool going my first few loops enjoying the rundown but still beautiful topside facades, and then each new day peeling back the curtain into the absolutely polar opposite military base areas. The setting of Blackreef alone is burned onto my brain like no other game setting has for me in a long time. And the movement in this game? Chefs kiss, my god. It’s such a satisfying game to sprint and shift around in once you get over the initial “the eternalists are everywhere therefore crouch permanently” phase. Also the writing is absolutely phenomenal, I loved listening to every bit of dialogue I could. The logical side of me doesn’t want a deathloop 2 because it feels right being just the one, but I’m greedy and want more of these masked fools just chatting god damnit.

But I had a moment where I almost called quits on it and I’m so glad I didn’t. I’d figured out some mysteries but nothing that really made me feel like I was getting closer to the final loop. Ended up playing Juliana for a while and ended up just naturally exploring more of the map I hadn’t as Colt while trying to hunt him down. So I’d then go back, figure out what was in those new areas as Colt and everything started to click into place. It felt amazing when I’d finally read that note plastered everywhere in Karl’s Bay about the generators below the control centre (I was also so annoyed that I hadn’t seen that note for so long lmao. It’s EVERYWHERE) and then finally figured out how to get behind those HZN doors that eluded me for so long. I never had to listen to ‘Cheesewheel?’ ever again. And like I said in the intro, that was the snowball moment for me. Doing that final loop after so long felt so damn good.

Good job Arkane! Knocked it out of the park

What was your "this changes everything" moment?

You know...when you discovered a path, weapon, slab, trinket, strategy, or discovery that completely changed the game for you and gave you the upper hand and made doing something so much easier

For me it's when I realized that if you turn off aleksis beer tap it completely Isolates him...making it easy to kill him
