I’m living in a villa, and 43 days before my agreement was set to expire, my landlord decided to raise the rent by 20%. I let him know that this increase was not allowed by law—that he could only raise it by 5% and needed to inform me 60 days before the lease expiration. I told him I wanted to renew at the same rate as the previous contract and also expressed my intent to renew on the TAMM app. Unfortunately, we couldn’t reach an agreement.

After the contract expired, he offered a 5% increase, which I also pointed out was still not legal, explaining the law again. I confirmed I was still willing to pay the same amount as before. This back-and-forth happened a few more times.

Now, six months later, he’s sent me a legal notice saying he wants to end the contract. He’s asking for the rent amount for the past six months (at the previous rate without any increase) and is demanding that I vacate the property as soon as possible, threatening legal action if I don’t. For context, he has an identical house next to mine that he’s converted into six studios, and now he seems to be pushing us out.

I’d like to pay for the past six months and stay for the next six. Do I have any options left?

Hi everyone. So I've been in my current building for like 4 years now. About a year ago, a fire broke out on my floor and the fire alarm system was turned off. At 3 am I smelled something very bad and when I opened the door my floor was filled with smoke you could barely see. I proceeded to ring the doorbells of people on my floor and scream to wake people up so that we could run out. Again, no alarm was ringing. The smoke was so bad now you couldn't see anything save for the light of the fire. We had to call the watchman of the building so that fire fighters could arrive.

I ended up having chest pain and coughs for weeks after it. The smell on our floor and apartment was terrible. (the fire burned all the garbage on our floor).

Despite this, I never asked for anything from building management.

Now currently with the situation in Lebanon, I wanted to get my sister and dog here. My building has always been that no pets are allowed I explained the situation and asked if they could allow my dog (he is very well trained). They refused.

I have been looking for another studio to move into with no luck. I asked if I could have one more month to look and they said new rule now you can only pay 3 months or 6 months (this was not the case before).

Idk I feel like this is personal almost? Like what are the odds the new "rule" comes when I need 1 month (I usually pay 3 or 6 months but I have paid monthly before).

I also need to mention that my floor's false ceiling is filled with black mold and my toilet had mold as well which they have told me is just "dirt" on the ceiling since I moved in. In fact I had mold on my wood (my window wasn't closing well) and they cleaned it with just water.

I just don't see why they're acting so entitled when I'm living in such a situation and just asking for at least another month to search for another apartment.

What's the point with sites like Bayut and Property finder? In most cases the properties description, photos and attached floorplan shows a whole different property.
