A subreddit for chronicling how Advanced Capitalist Society is not only dystopic, but also incredibly boring.

SUBREDDIT RULES

1. Off-Topic Posts: This subreddit is a place for aggregating anything that relates to Mark Fisher's concept of A Boring Dystopia; That is, the mundane horrors of late-stage capitalism we are forced to adapt to. Posts that are off-topic will be removed and bans may be issued.

This rule may be suspended temporarily in the event of a one-sided media environment regarding anything dystopian.

2. Reposts: If a post has been submitted or featured on the front page of this subreddit in the past 14 days, it will be removed and result in a possible ban. Common reposts may also be removed.

3. Conversation Etiquette: The goal of this subreddit is to facilitate an environment where people can comfortably and constructively converse and discuss. Deliberate attempts to disrupt this environment will result in a ban and comment removal.

Examples:

-name calling; be it plain insults or online buzzwords, for example "bootlicker" or "tankie"

-arguing in bad faith, using logical fallacies, derailing the discussion, etc.

4. Advocating violence: Advocating violence is against Reddit's sitewide rules. Violations may result in a temporary ban, with a permaban for repeat or serious offences. This rule includes thinly-veiled threats, or slogans such as "Eat the Rich".

5. No Low-Quality Content: Video clips, memes, webcomics, pictures of text, and other low-effort content will be removed and bans may be issued. This rule may be suspended temporarily in the event of a one-sided media environment regarding anything dystopian.

This rule also applies to overdone topics, including but not limited to: Medical bills, mass shootings, police violence, high price tags, charity/activism, partisan political discourse, etc.

6. No Low-Quality Ads: Certain types of ads or products do fit the sub's theme, but we reserve the right to remove any post deemed to help the ad campaigners.

Allowed examples of ad posts include: Placement of ad is weird/invasive/dangerous; Depicted product is relevant to sub (if it is an art concept, it must be flaired "Art"); Ad language or intent is relevant to sub.

Overdone examples will be removed and bans may be issued for topics such as: diabetic strips for cash, army recruiting, targeted advertising, etc.

7. No Social Media Content: Mark Fisher was against "recirculating 'content' and sending links, keeping people inside what [he] would call capitalist cyberspace instead of looking outside at their own environment".

To this end, any social media screenshots or links will be removed and bans may be issued. This includes Reddit, Twitter, TikTok, etc. unless you get prior approval in modmail.

8. Misinformation: Bans may be issued for deliberately spreading misinformation in either posts or comments. News submissions must include a source link. Satire must be flaired "Satire", and art concepts must be flaired "Art". If you are making a highly-debated claim, provide reputable sources in your comments.

9. Site-Wide Rules: Bans may be issued for any other violation of site-wide Reddit Terms of Service, including but not limited to: promoting hate or hate organizations, ban evasion, brigading, or other community interference.
