Some cool stuff here, mostly moody looking background videos and 20s music. Think they are all from the library of congress public domain stuff.
Hello, I'm not quite sure if this is the place to ask this, but I've got this 1925 sheet music for the song "I'm sitting on top of the world" and I'm curious as to if Al Herman a stage name for Al Jolson or just a similar artist with a poor record? I know Jolson did blackface and was well known at the time for his african american impersonations, he also recorded a version of this song, but I couldn't find any info on him going by this name anywhere. I could only find a few newspapers referring to this other name in advertisements, otherwise no real record of the man that I could find, which led me to think it was perhaps a short-lived stage name? I'm admittedly terrible with faces, but to me the two men look very similar, which also furthers my suspicion. Thanks (:
(My photo wont upload, if you google the song name it should come up)

EDIT: And the winner is: "Yes, Sir, That's My Baby"!!! Thank you so much everyone who responded! I loved the 1920s recordings of it, and I also found this modern group doing it, which I loved as well (as i could imagine myself performing it like this, albeit in a higher key!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrsLTmFG0EU
Hello, I've been asked to sing a few songs from the 1920s for "decade night" charity fundraiser. I've already found a nice, slow blues song from Bessie Smith I'm going to sing, but I also need a fast, fun upbeat, uptempo song to sing.
Every time I search for faster, more fun 1920s songs, all I get are instrumentals. I need a song a cool flapper girl would sing onstage in a speakeasy while people were dancing and having fun!
I'm a soprano, not an alto, so if it's a little higher, that would be better (so I don't have to change the key).
If anyone could throw some ideas out for me, I could try them out and see if one of them could work with my voice. Thank you!!!
Thank god other people listen to this jazz as i do, it makes me feel better about myself lmao
Jack Hylton really does make life so much better
