Can anyone tell me what this icon means under my volume level on my phone? Sorry for my ignorance and thanks for any help
I'm having this issue where my browsers will 'randomly' take 10-20 seconds to load a webpage. This happens in both Chrome and Firefox, and it seems to happen on any given site. At a minimum it happens on google search, youtube, amazon, reddit, and aliexpress.
relevant info:
- specs:
- I have tried launching Firefox in 'troubleshoot mode' to disable any addons, but it still happens.
- Chrome and Firefox are both up-to-date
- Sometimes it happens on both browsers at once, sometimes it only affects one browser at a time.
- ping stays below 50ms even when the issue is occurring
- CPU stays below 10%, RAM below 70%, temps below 60C
- Virus scan comes up clean and I have recently 'refreshed' windows (unrelated timeline to this issue)
- PC and router are regularly restarted (at least once per week)
- I also seem to have random lag spikes in counterstrike 2 but i'm not sure if that's related
- I have a wired ethernet connection, ISP provides 300mbps/20mbps via cable and speedtest shows these speeds while the issue is occurring. the issue occurs over both wifi and ethernet
Here is a video of the issue happening a few times, with a minute of non-issue in-between: https://youtu.be/sah5sMAtkNY
Any idea what could be causing this and how to fix it? I have an intel 14900k but i updated the microcode to MSI version 129 (i have MSI mobo) prior to receiving this replacement processor.
Hi, I currently have a USB hub with 4 USB A, 1 HDMI and 1 x USB 3.
I use it to charge my laptop, connect to my monitor and connect my keyboard, mouse, midi keyboard and sound card (I produce music).
I want to connect an external HD as well and have an extra space spare incase I need it for anything else but can't find anywhere that has that amount of ports. Does anyone have any advice or know of anything suitable? Thanks!
I currently own an iPhone 14 Pro and have been considering switching to the Google Pixel 9 (non-Pro version). While I enjoy my iPhone, I’m intrigued by what the Pixel 9 has to offer, especially its camera and Android experience. However, I’m unsure if this switch would be an upgrade, downgrade, or simply a lateral move.
I've tried almost everything I've seen online, it happens randomly or whenever I open a game. This started happening around a month and a half ago and I found some temporary fixes since then, but now even those don't even work. I can't even play any games because it black screens like 10 seconds after I load up anything.
My pc is also new, I built it back in late July. It was working perfect until around a month after.
I don't think it's overheating, I've check my temps w/ MSI Afterburner and it's not even going high.
Please let me know if you need more info!!

what does Custom mean? does it mean the user actually uses the app or it was a recurrent behavior if this app was installed in your phone while using Facebook?
Help! Basically what the title says!
I was sat at the desk in our office room with a hot chocolate, accidentally knocked it off and it's gone all inside his 1k computer! What do I do?!
I am so nervous to say anything, almost in tears- how can I try to fix it or help fix this!! He loves his computer and I feel absolutely awful.
Hello, so this has been started happening for maybe like 2-3 weeks now and I can't seem to get what the issue is. It started happening when I started recently playing god of war 2018, before that didn't have any problems, after 4-6 normal hours of gameplay, my PC would randomly just shut my monitor off, most of the time I can hear the game in the background but my controller unplugs and only thing I can do is restart the PC manually with the power button. That happens mostly randomly, one day I was playing 3 hours and it didn't happen, today it happened 2 times in like 3 minutes of gameplay. A few times my pc just straight up shut down and restarted, and 2 times the game crashed and it gave me a window telling me it might be my drivers need updating or my GPU is overheating.
I have put GPU and CPU usage and temp in the corner, it's normal, the frames per second are normal.
I done diagnostics on my memory and it seems to be okay, as well as updating the newest drivers.
I thought it was just GOW 2018 that maybe had some corrupted files or something of that sort that could cause that but just now I tried to run Apex Legends and the same thing happened after like 2 minutes of gameplay.
I really don't know what's causing it and it's starting to really annoy me so if anyobdy can help with this I would be happy.
So.. i have win7, and im not sure how to pick correct drivers for my gpu. its an ASUS Radeon HD7750, and i have win7 64bit. idk what else to say. i had wrong gpu drivers which made me bluescreen in nfsu and i really dont want to kill another gpu
My iPhone X was working fine but I dropped it and the screens ruined does anyone have any suggestions on what phone I should get next I was thinking Samsung but I’m not sure which ones good ideally I don’t really want to spend more than 250-300
Joined a new team, currently in knowledge transfer sessions with a 15 year associate who is retiring next year that I'll be expected to replace. I'd like to take the hundreds of weekly, monthly and annual tasks she has documented and move them from an excel checklist to either a product like MS project or planner maybe but I'm struggling with finding the product to start working with.
She has tasks documented in an excel spreadsheet currently, but I'd like to be able to to assign dates to them at the beginning of each year automatically ( one task is last week of every month), many tasks key off an annual date for a major project we manage but the date changes annually (example: 8 weeks prior to xx date schedule meetings with certain technical teams, 7 weeks prior to xx date schedule meetings with other teams etc). Tons of recurring tasks for quarterly contracted deliverables (reports, budget reviews, document reviews with multiple technical teams etc).
This associate I'm replacing has done a great job of documenting the TONS of tasks I'll be responsible for, but if I don't find a way to automate reminders and have a weekly/monthly/quarterly dashboard view maybe ...I can't imagine ever not letting things slip through the cracks. I'll also be having to train another team member once she retires at years end and I'm overwhelmed just trying to grasp the tasks myself.
I could really use some advice on where maybe to start getting all this down. Thoughts?
I need some advice, I need a laptop and I'm undecided between a ROG Zephyrus g14 with rtx 4070 (€2,499.00/$2,635.75) or a refurbished macbook pro m1 pro with 10-core CPU and 16-core GPU and 16 GB of ram (€1649/$1739.23). I would mainly use it for studying, producing music and editing videos. I'm in doubt because I already have a main desktop PC which is already very capable, so it makes sense to buy a g14 which costs almost €1000 more, the 32GB of RAM and the 4070 attracted me.
Also consider that I have never had a MacBook so I don’t know anything about MacOS. What do you recommend?
Are there any other interesting notebooks for my uses?
Hi, I live in Ontario, Canada, and am wondering about switching our internet, phone, and/or tv provider, because I think we are paying too much. I have done some reading on different subreddits about recommendations, how to bargain down a price, suggestions about providers, but I want to understand if I am actually paying too much, if it's fair enough, or what could be paying.
In Canada, we have very limited options of 3 big companies, and a handful of networks (ex: Telus and Bell run on the same network), so you get the same service either company. The monopolies, which drives our prices up. Some alternatives exist, like Tekksavvy or Xfinity. Every companies has controversies and people who have received crap service, of course. No one company is unanimously "the best". Company loyalty doesn't seem to matter, because they're only ever offering lower price to new customers, or with Win-back deals, after you've already gone through the trouble of switching. The posts/comments I have read so far advise to just keep hopping services every couple years, or complaining to your current provider to bargain the price down. However, I am woefully lost in all the articles and reddit chatter about how to go about seeking affordability.
My dad is a long-time Bell customer. He's never had anything different for phone or internet. We used to have Rogers Cable, but they refused to give us any deal (in 2012) even though they were offering new customers cheaper plans than loyal customers. We pay $176.79 for 3 phones (58.93 each). Our internet is $101, and our TV costs $119 /month. We unfortunately do not have access to Fibe in our area, so use Satellite. Some of reddit suggests just paying for different subscription services and living off that. My parents don't use mobile devices to watch things. So... are there alternatives, there? I can only think of trying to jump tv providers.
For internet: I don't think we're renting our router/modem through Bell, but if we haven't purchased it, Reddit suggests to just buy our own router + modem outright and set up a home network. Apparently that can cut the cost of the internet provider? No idea, couldn't see any pricing proof. I'm not knowledgeable enough to do that, but I'm really willing to learn anything if it will save us money. Is the best thing to hop providers or complain in hopes of a lower price? Most of reddit and advice blogs use all sorts of acronyms for tech speak, which also confuses me. Unsure of what to do, but very sure I want to pay less.
Hi everyone, first ever post on here. I wanted to ask for some advice on how to get into the tech industry, the best ways about to go about it and what jobs pay the best. Thanks in advance.
I'm looking for some new commute/gym headphones, since my JBLs recently (and very unceremoniously) kicked the bucket. I'm located in Germany, my budget is around 50-70 Euros. I would prefer in- or over-ear to on ear, but I'm not particularly picky. ANC isn't really important to me. The only two musts for me are no JBL (due to how my old pair of Tune230's went out, I'm not interested in dealing with them ever again) and a decent bass. Thanks in advance!
Hello,
for a couple days now, I've encountered a weird problem with my AOC 27G2G4 monitor. After booting up, I get weird pixelation errors from my monitor, only at the bottom. What's weird is that this problem only occurs at 144hz. Going to 120hz or below resolves the issue.
Also, within 15-30 minutes, the issue slowly gets less worse, until it's gone completely. Like something has to warm up. But even then, I've noticed that the issue differs through different tabs. In my browser it's pretty bad, but in other Tabs the issue isn't as bad, also sometimes it fades away completely for a brief time (like when I get a Steam popup message)
I've tried another hdmi cable, which didn't fix the issue, also another monitor, that works fine, but also doesn't even go to 144hz.
Tried different gpu drivers as well. Nothing worked yet. Do you think it's more of a gpu or a monitor related problem.
Hello! I just ordered a Lenovo Yoga laptop. Since it's touch screen, with a pen, I feel like a screen protector is warranted? Will it affect the sensitivity of the touch screen negatively? Should I get with tempered glass or a matte finish, like the "paper feel" kind?
This is my first expensive laptop, and I want to take care of it!
It’s been a while since I last built a website, and I’ve noticed some big changes. For instance, PWAs (Progressive Web Apps) are popular now, AMP is basically obsolete, and native lazy loading plugins are no longer needed.
Could you suggest some current "technologies" and features I should consider? I’m interested in things like PWAs; the idea of a website that stays online due to caching is very appealing.
Currently, I’m using WordPress’s Performance suite and LiteSpeed cache, as well as Yoast for SEO, IndexNow for instant indexing (I noticed that Google briefly supported a similar feature, but now it only works with certain types of content), and AVIF images.
Are there other technologies or features I should look into? As I mentioned, it’s been a while since I last built a full-fledged website. What’s new out there?
So, everything works fine, it's not the disk - but somehow, everything is red and there are these artifacts around the font.
I just got a new phone and I like to have privacy when I’m on my phone. But my biggest thing right now is why are there so many privacy screen protectors so expensive??? Like everywhere I look the are nearly $60-$70. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get one for a decent price??? (At least somewhere that isn’t Amazon)
My husband has two very old Mac laptops that won’t turn on. I want to recycle them but he’s worried that they need to be wiped first because of old tax documents etc. He also has a dream that he can extract old pictures from the computers as well. I believe this was pre-cloud. Can I extract pictures or is there someplace that does this? Can I wipe them? Or should I just recycle them as-is?
Please be patient with me, I'm a complete novice when it comes to tech!
I live in a very old house with thick walls and floors. Because of this we struggle with our WiFi reaching the upstairs, where we use it the most to stream video and play console games.
I made the mistake of buying a 15m long ethernet cable, without checking on what exactly I was getting. I had planned on running the cable from the wall outlet, up the flight of stairs and having the router on the landing upstairs. Of course, the cable is an ethernet cable to connect from the router to a device, not connecting the router to the wall outlet.
I was wondering if I bought a TP-Link WiFi Access Point and connected it to the router via the ethernet cable running up the stairs, would that increase the range of the network?
I have used the plug-in range extenders before, but have never got on well with them as they create new networks and find devices never seem to connect to the correct ones when you want them to. What I would like is to make the network stronger upstairs. Do I buy the WiFi Access Point, or return the ethernet cable and buy the correct one to move my router upstairs?
So for context, I had 2 monitors connected to my pc some time ago. Back then I had an nvidia gtx 750 ti which has 1 hdmi port. one of my monitors is connected to my pc with a dvi-d to hdmi cable, since it doesnt have an hdmi port, and the other is connected with an hdmi to hdmi cable.
Recently I got an rtx 3060 which also has 1 hdmi port and I cant figure out how to connect both monitors to my PC. I tried plugging one of them in the motherboard hdmi slot.
In the BIOS settings there's an option to enable IGFX multi-monitor, but even with that enabled, it doesnt work. Please help.
Thanks in advance
