Anybody remember A Different Drum label from late 90s/early 2000s?

I loved that label. I had a bunch of Cosmicity albums from them. They also had a couple of compilation CDs. I think one was called Rising! synthpop vs. The World or something like that. There were two of them that I owned. One had a butterfly on the album cover, but I forget what the other album cover looked like.

I’m trying to find some songs from those two compilation albums. Does anyone know if they’re up on YouTube or anywhere else that hosts music or music videos? Thank you.

Ps I always pronounced Cosmicity as “coz-miss-eh-tee” instead of Cosmic City. lol.

Pleasure Palaces - S/T

Extract taken from our bandcamp description, please take the time to read and listen, it would mean the world:

This a project started as a collaboration between Ryan and Will, with a few songs written by Ryan sending Will over guitar parts, song structures and ideas, Will writing drum sections and providing vocals. Lyrical duties were shared by both. Eventually, Miles was bought in to mix Weightless for release, where they ended up joining full time to assist with the projects development. Over the space of Around 7 months, Pleasure Palaces finalised 8 songs, of which were meant to be split between a few eps and singles taking on different sounds. Conversations about live shows started to happen, as Ryan was so incredibly driven by creativity and the need to bring these songs to the world. Despite suffering from epilepsy, he wanted to conquer his fears and do what he loved.

Unfortunately, this would never come to fruition as Ryan would pass away due to complications with his epilepsy in early October. From here the rest of the band finalised the songs and decided to release it as one whole album, then end the project. Continuing without Ryan under the Pleasure Palaces name would ensure this project would never be the same.

The final track, was only an mp3 file Ryan shared as a brief idea, but it was beautiful enough and summarised our feelings around this band so well, it was decided to be used.

This is an album with many different concepts and ideas explored, love, existential dread, loss, depression and accepting yourself in spite of what you see in your reflection.

Despite what talent may rest in the band, Ryan was the spark that truly made it special. He would’ve killed us if we didn’t release it.

All proceeds will go to Epilepsy Action UK.

This is dedicated to Ryan, his loving family, and his wonderful partner Terry.

Looking for synth heavy 70s songs. Recommendations?

I'm really into synth stuff like Gary Numan, Kraftwerk, The cars and YMO. While many of these were prominent in the early 80s, they all started out in the 70s.

Would anyone have any recommendations for some more obscure-ish synth heavy type songs that originated in the 70s?

It doesn't have to be outright synthpop, I'm just mainly looking for any songs that feature a Moog or something similar sounding.

Another example would be the use of a synth keyboard in Captain & Tennille’s ‘Love will keep us together’ as well as in a few other songs featured on that album.

I really love that sound. Any other songs similar to that would be greatly appreciated! :)
