Hope y'all like this one. Thanks for listening! 😘
Hey guys,
Dub techno is literally medicine for me, so I get a bit bummed sometimes when I talk to ppl and they're like "oh you mean skrillex?" or when I show others tunes that I'm digging, and they say stuff like "oh this is nice background music" haha.
I'm trying to get an event off the ground at the moment in South UK, and I'm finding it difficult to find people who are interested. I want to live somewhere where dudes live and breathe this stuff, and other deep electronic genres like ro/minimal and deep techno... so I'm wondering if somewhere like this exists?
I know Berlin of course, and Romania/some spots in South America for minimal, but is there anywhere else that has a particularly strong scene for these sort of genres over harder techno?
Thanks for your ideas :) coupla recent favs if you're keen for a listen:
Hey guys!
I wanted to share the process and steps I'm taking to release my first cassette compilation in 2025.
A bit about me: I started collecting tapes in the early '90s, back when everything was called "house music." Before I even had a vinyl or CD player, I was "mixing" cassettes on a double cassette deck as a young teenager—just before the internet was around and before I even knew what a DJ was! I'd record bits and pieces onto blank tapes until I had some kind of mix.
Later, when I got into vinyl mixing, I started recording mixtapes regularly, sharing them with friends and playing them in my car. I did this up until 2003.
Now, more than 20 years later, my interest in cassettes has been reignited, thanks to many great labels I discovered on Bandcamp. Since 2011, I've started several digital labels, one of them being Crossfade Sounds, where I release a lot of dub techno music from artists like Sasha Dive, Anton Lanski, Heavenchord, Nicolas Barnes, Mielafon, Riccicomoto, Savvas, Vidno, Krissky, Symbol G, G-Day, Dott. Santafeo, Davor Tosovic, and many more!
Since the label’s Bandcamp page is growing nicely, I thought it would be cool to do our first physical release. Vinyl is a bit too expensive at the moment, so I decided to start with a cassette release. Earlier this year, I started collecting tracks from producers around the world, and just a few weeks ago, I confirmed the final track for the compilation.
The next step was to find a company to produce high-quality cassette tapes. Thanks to another thread here on Reddit, I came across https://gotape.eu/, the team behind TapesTM, based in Slovenia.
I got in touch with them a week ago, and their communication has been fantastic—quick responses, even on weekends. They use top-quality RTM tapes and offer runs starting from just 30 cassettes, which is great. Their prices are also really reasonable.
Right now, my mastering engineer is doing an analog master for all the tracks, and I'm super excited to hear the results. In the coming days, I'll also be finalizing the artwork.
I'm also planning to pitch this cassette release for a feature on Bandcamp. I’ve heard you need to do this at least two months in advance, so the release probably won’t be until the end of February next year. Has anyone here ever gotten a feature on the Bandcamp homepage? I imagine a physical release would be a great way to reach new listeners and bring more exposure to the label!
This project is definitely not about making money—the costs of mastering and printing the cassettes will likely be more than any return. But for me, this is a project for the love of the music.
I'm also planning to buy a high-quality secondhand cassette deck to start recording my own tapes. Maybe, if there's enough demand, I could do a limited cassette for each EP or album release on the label. Nowadays, you can get everything you need to do it yourself at a professional level.
I've seen several other labels on Bandcamp doing this, usually selling out every release. So, I think it's definitely possible if you have a loyal audience!
To everyone reading: Do you still listen to cassettes? Do you buy them, or maybe release them yourself? Let me know in the comments! :)
I'll keep you updated over the coming weeks about the progress of this release.
And not to spam, but if you want to follow the label on Bandcamp

I am not here self promoting. I love electronic music and have seen the early 90s. I started messing around with mixing and posting them on the site as a way to listen to them later. I've really been digging the deep side of techno lately and particularly the Deep Techno section of Bandcamp. I think the tracks would be great for you all, and even though I'm an amateur dj, I tried to put them together in a good mix. Anyways, check these tracks either singularly or in my mix format. Thank you.

"Cinege" is an atmospheric track that aims to capture the colder autumn and winter vibes, all wrapped in a dynamic arrangement.
"Egy hét" is specifically designed for the dance floor, with a faster tempo, chordal sounds, and lots of delays. It was made in a minimalist style, but care was taken to avoid monotony through automated chords.
